Just finished up the optional mini-dungeon area where my heavily modified hookshot, currently just called the Spear, can be found.  It's technically reachable as soon as you get the ladder, since that's the only dungeon item required to get to the mini-dungeon... but I don't think anyone (short of the people who do crazy stuff like fighting roomfuls of blue Darknuts with 4 or 5 hearts and a wooden sword) is going to be getting it quite that early.

A couple screenshots of me testing it out in one of the areas somewhat near the spear's location.  It should be at just about its full length in both shots.  There are a few spots with pits and hookshot-grab type combos which you need the spear to cross, but none of them are required to play through the whole game (though some do lead to very useful stuff.)  For the most part it's just used for combat... though using it to catch fairies--by stabbing them, of course--is fun, too. XD

This stuff looks great man, I'm really excited about playing your quest. Do you have a demo?

And Charizard that crypt is really big, does the exterior match the interior? I like the older version a bit more, but these graphics are real good to say the least. Also, if that's the palette you made: it looks fantastic.

Thanks! While I love the previous screen myself, I wanted to make the Graveyard Mausoleum really huge and ominous. It's a really important place in the quest and I want the screen to scream it out at you. Also thanks about the palette. I referenced Nintendo's and a few custom palettes made by fellow palette makers.

Also FYS, looking great! Loving the lava.

Ah so it's a mausoleum, that explains the size and makes it perfectly suited. I expected it to be an underground crypt from the previous screenshot.

@Charizard That looks awesome! I would love to see this when I'm playing ZC! Great work.

@FnrrfYgmSchnish (how the hell do you remember your username? lmao) I love these classic screens, the lava pouring out of the cave walls was very clever. Good job to you!

I haven't really thought about uploading it anywhere yet, but I suppose there's more than enough there for a demo already--I have 7 dungeons plus every currently-reachable overworld room done, so I guess I could put up a demo version that's just missing levels 8 and 9 (plus the upper-right corner of the overworld and a couple rooms here and there of other areas that aren't reachable yet.)  I'd just need to finish up a cave area and add in one last thing right after level 7 before it'd be ready for people to start testing it without running into blank rooms.

I also don't have a clue what I'm going to title it, but I suppose I could put it up with a placeholder for now and then come up with the real title when I have the final version done.

Heh, I actually don't have any difficulty remembering Fnrrf Ygm Schnish.  Probably because they're nonsense words I made up over a decade ago and have been using pretty consistently since then.  If you think spelling it's hard, you should try pronouncing it! XD

Challenge accepted  :glare:

Also, I think a demo would still be nice... but from what I'm seeing, I'd rather wait until the quest is actually fully complete  :D

I don't think it's necessary to have a demo of such size, 1 dungeon would be satisfying to me, or videos. This quest is looking great.

Wow, looks amazing! I feel like the lamp posts at the bottom are too close to the edge, though. And the lights on the path look a bit off, too.

Also I see "PIT" two combos to the right of the blue roof. ;)

I liek dat village.

Looks like a very nice and peaceful place to live in, the way the tiles are arranged gives a very relaxing atmosphere, great work!

Normally I (and others) don't like showing incomplete shots - but I seriously would love suggestions before fleshing this out more. This is the Forest Temple of my game, I guess the screen kinda speaks for itself on how it plays out. I need a decent-looking background. I am personally not fond of the clouds in the tileset.

If I remember right, one of the Oracle games had faint blue hills you could use for above the trees. As for clouds themselves, a quick look on Spriter's Resource got me thinking that coloring the small background clouds from "Kirby's Dream Land" on this sheet would look nice.

Otherwise, I think that coloring the background panel from "Cloud Castle" on "Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge" might look nice placed over those trees on the horizon. (small square with clouds, pillars, and mountains. Should be easy to expand into the proper width.)
