Haha, thanks guys. I'm sorry to say, but these are from 2011/2012 and aren't being used. I might revive the Legacy tileset (used in the second last shot), but I want to wait until I can become good at sprite making. Otherwise, the screendesign for (most) screens will be implemented in a future project. ![]()

So what's the point of showing off screenshots to ask for critique when you're not using them, or even the tileset, anymore?

I asked for critique? I never asked for that specifically nor did I even reject critique. I simply said these shots aren't in a upcoming quest.

All I was implying was that Russ implied I personally asked for critique. Hence the keyword in my previous post being specifically.

The point, is that all creative work, even past work and cancelled work and the feedback received from sharing it, is valuable to the creative process of current and future work. What should it matter that it is a screen from an upcoming quest, something old, or just someone dicking around with ZQ? Anyone willing to share for feedback or even to just take pride in their work or even boost their confidence should be encouraged to do so.

If it helps any, I'm kind of appreciative that he posted those pictures. I happened to be wanting to replace the Pot graphics in my quest, but The Spriter's Resource was down. One of those pictures happened to have the exact pots that I was looking for. Probably not Shane's intention when posting the images, but a rather happy coincidence on my end.

Okay, I suppose that makes sense. I dunno, to me, it always seemed like this thread was more to show what you're working on an ask for advice, but more and more, it seems like people are just using it as the ZC-equivalent of Facebook. "Hey, look at me, look at what I did." ![]()
For what it's worth, those are very nice screens Shane. So why let them go to waste? Do something with them! ![]()

Trying something a little different with the subscreen. It's fun to pose Link and other objects in the gaps! I am of course open to criticism, but don't knock it too hard until you've seen it in action at the expo. ![]()

It's a nice subscreen! Sadly, there's not much to comment on because of it's simplicity (And current lack of items). ![]()

Ooh, I love semi-transparent subscreens like that. My only real complaint is that the item name is kinda hard to notice, down there all its own without a box around it. And semi-unrelated, but I love how it looks like the trap is going to slide up through the subscreen into Link. ![]()

I don't want to spoil too many of the game items, so I cheated and deleted a few from the shot. As far as the simplicity of the overall design ... my original subscreen was even simpler. Instead of having a whole lot of bells and whistles, I like focusing on little gimmicks like the color changing and the transparency. But I know it doesn't exactly blow people away like some of the more complex subscreens out there.

This is something that looks pretty awesome. I like the simplicity look of this and it looks more spread out over the 1st quest's subscreen. I also like how you can see the dungeon behind it ![]()

Here is the second screen of the same place of which I have posted a screenshot in the last SotW. It's not from an actual quest, just a little something I made for SotW.
