Figured I would post the map of level 9 from the first quest I ever made back in 1.92 beta 183
:

In short, the idea is to get 6 keys to complete the dungeon in addition to the Fire Boomerang and Golden Arrows. However, the dungeon with the Master Sword has the Magical Key in it, but by then it's useless since you have to do a majority of level 9 anyway, rendering it pointless. It suffers from too many bullet hell rooms (fake difficulty) and being too linear. Not to mention if you die anywhere after the room with the boomerang shaped formation of ice blocks, it's a long way back. Oh and there are a few trolls that boot you back near the start. Overall, it's okay, but it's more of an enemy endurance and all of the bullet hells don't help either. One really annoying thing is in one of the rooms with a 2x4 space of tiles with a ton of 4-heart damage spikes, you would have no idea the middle two columns of spikes become safe to walk on after slaying the Gohma 3 there. Near the end there is a hidden Fairy Fountain and you will need it. This place pretty much makes the Lens of Truth mandatory.

Pretty pretty, Astromeow.

I really like your overworlds. I find that, most of the time, FF-styled overworlds don't look too great in ZC, but yours always do.

It looks decent. Those rooms filled with shooters, however, look unforgiving in the extreme.

Sheik showed me the trailer for a game called Apotheon, which gave me tremendous inspiration. This is definitely not plagiarism; right, guys?
Yeeeah, YEEEAH. More Metroidvania is always good
forgot to mention: RedmadeAdam you are a good Classic user, even with an old map. I like the stairs to nothing room with tons of blocks

My first quest was full of rooms like that, and to be honest, back 4 1/2 years ago when I made it, I thought it was okay. When I LP'ed it last year, I really came to realize how awful that design was. I mentioned a lot how most of the rooms were intended to slowly drain you so the big boys could finish you off once you limped out of the "Touhou rooms". I mean 6 statues in one room is enough. Doesn't help in the Master Sword's dungeon, I made ALL 84 floor tiles and blocks in the room shoot at you. However, there it actually could save you. Regardless, I thought I would share the level 9 map anyway. I like to look back at other peoples' older designs and see how much they have improved.

Oh hey, I remember my trek through that Level 9, Adam. To be honest, I only liked it along because of the song choice (Leon's Theme I believe it was, or something like that). But yeah, as for this:
I like to look back at other peoples' older designs and see how much they have improved.
I do that too, but for my old pieces of work just so I can see myself improving in screen design. Nonetheless, it's still a good Z1-style map.
Edit: Didn't see Geoffrey's map there. Looks like a really cool Castlevania setting, but at the same time I can see some vibes of Metroid in there too.

I will probably release a demo later today. The levels take absolutely no time to make, thankfully. I will probably also release the tileset before long.

Thank you! At the moment I am using all the default sprites. If I feel up to it later, I will make sprites to fit the combos.

Those trees in the middle need some sort of black outline to their foilage to match the style and tone of the trees in the lower left of that map.

Here's a map I had for my 2nd quest "The Quest of Beings" made back in 2010:

Don't ask what's up with that random dark patch on the top-left, since I honestly don't know what the point of that was. This dungeon's gimmick is to collect all 12 keys to go to the 2nd floor where they all need to be used up, similarly to RedmageAdam's Level 9 from earlier.
