This is something I was going to pursue for Russ' two week contest, but fell flat and sort of just forgot about it.  Decided I want to return to it, though, after finishing my 5th Quest Entry.

 

It's unfortunately just village stuff so far.  I'll try to get some other things done, hopefully consistently.

Nice looking screenshots, Shane! It makes me wonder ... you seem to have a time stone thing going on there, and I'm curious how it will be implemented.

Basically, you hit the Timeshift Stone and you warp to either one of the maps depending if you're in past or present. Past provides a more lush desert, free from quicksand. But due to the past being a wasteland, the trees die and open paths that were blocked in the past.

 

The present also reveals secrets such as a invisible bombable wall in the past, you'd be able to pinpoint the location by seeing a cave entrance in present time.

Mind you these aren't really official shots. I'm just trying to capture a unique feeling with each area. I may implement them into the areas tough, who knows.

I like the colors and overall layout, but I personally think those trees look a little too spiky on their own. Maybe have a patch of round ones and a patch of spiky ones for contrast? Just a thought.

I'll admit, I rushed the tree choice. I got better trees in mind that weren't included in the EZGBZ set.

 

But thanks, I made the palette along with the desert palette. :)

I love the Timeshift Stone idea! The design choice is nice as well. The colors are very fitting too. Perhaps the ground details could be changed in the past, though? it seems odd for them to be the same. A++ either way!

I love love love it! The ground details blending into the tall grass near the middle (I think?) is a wonderful idea. Colors are great, and I lvove the house in the mountains idea. A+!

Perfection!! The colors really help bring the town together. Very simple yet great amounts of variation, such as the three roof types. To be honest Scoot, I didn't even know you were capable of using the GB set, and even ZC so elegantly. :cat: A+!

Edited the trees and palette. Unlike the previous overworld shots this one will be in the game. :)
