Ooh, hi there. Thanks for this. Okay, in order:
- for spikes, maybe have them do 1 heart base instead of 2. Early on in some of the caves, a couple of missteps into spikes will be costly.
Sure. This is an agreeable claim. Not like we have an easy mode or a hard mode.
- Mansion - at end, replace up and right locked doors with shutter doors. should never have a key behind a locked door, especially if nothing behind there anyway. Door going down is ok to keep locked
There are keys behind the north and the east doors; one each. So you use a key to get a key. You're back to square one, all within half a minute. No worries. Why, is there some way to mess this up? I can't really think of one off the top of my head.
- on 10:27, is that hint the same as the one hint in dreameater city? Just to make sure, for L3 sword, you just need to talk to the person in the desert past the maze paths?
Yes, apparently it is a similar hint. The thing is, though, to talk to the person in Dreameater city, you need the L2 Gauntlets. But that's the only area where you need those during the quest to find the L3 Sword. If you buy the hint from the jerk in the desert
(Which I made, which makes me a jerk too. Yay.) you don't need the L2 Gauntlets for that hint.
But the thing is, you don't need either of those hints to unlock the sword. The only thing that actually unlocks the ability to dive for the sword is walking around the last hint from the Dreameater in the bottom of that large 2x2 conveyor desert cavern on 24:53.
- in Mines, is there a use for the boss key? didn't seem to see a boss door anywhere
Yes. It triggers secrets on 15:2A, which causes the floor to turn into warps, which use an Insta-Warp style warp, which leads to 15:2B, which lets you walk north to the "boss" room.
In Dreams of Yesterday, the item which resembles a Boss Key is not actually any kind of key. It just has the appearance of one to simulate such a behavior. It instead triggers a "boss room flag" type thing which kills enemies on two screens; one being the key screen, and the other being the door screen. When enemies on the door screen all die, secrets can be triggered, which replaces parts of the floor with warps to an identical screen where the door is open.
Found the Mirage Temple and it's kicking my behind. I'm running around in circles with one key.
Okay, first of all, definitely kill every enemy that you ever see. There is one screen on B-1 in the sand with some conveyors and leevers that drops a key onto a blue square in the middle of spikes. There's also a screen on B-1 with a 4x4 bunch of conveyors in the middle of the screen and 4 individual blocks, one on each corner of the screen. Push the upper right one to reach a room with a key.
