I'll make an obvious exception for stuff like Wii bowling, but when it comes to a targeting reticule for weapons fire or collecting star bits, the Wii Remote really would have been so much better if you didn't have to point it at the screen. Wherever your wrist is comfortable resting should be set as "aiming at screen's center", and then the movement of your wrist, not your arm, should cover all four corners of the screen.

I've been playing Actraiser 2 and having a blast... once I got a handle on the controls that is. The first half hour or so I was just getting my face beaten in, then it all started to come together. It's clear Volgarr the Viking took a lot of inspiration from this game, and I loved Volgarr, so Actraiser 2 scratches that same itch. Now, if only there wasn't so much unnecessary downtime every time you run out of lives! At least I can skip the waiting around with save states (though I never use them to scum my way through the actual levels - that's cheating).
It's a difficult game, yes, but 90% of that difficulty is just learning the controls. When I was sampling all the available stages at the start (it's partially non-linear) I was getting my ass handed to me non-stop - including the first level. But once I was good enough to beat the first level or two I found I could get through the other ones pretty easily, often on my first go. The volcano stage can go fuck itself though. Seriously. Still stuck on that one at the moment. There's one jump where the game's controls work against you and it's frustrating as hell. Died so many times, and it felt cheap as fuck every time.

I've been playing Persona 5 still, and started playing Danganronpa 2.
For some reason, I've been having some issues with Danganronpa that I didn't have on the first game. (PC version on both) For one thing, I tried plugging in my laptop to my family's television and playing the game with a controller plugged in. When I did that, every time I tried to turn the game off, it would lock up after hitting the "Exit Game" button. Once I disconnected the controller, it would turn the game off. Not a deal-breaker, but kind of odd.
Also, the game crashed for me in the middle of loading a dialogue box. The background animation kept going, the music had no issues, but the text would not appear and none of the buttons would do anything. (Note that at this point, I was trying to play without a controller)
This seems to be one of those games where it's going to have the strangest solution to the problem, similar to when I played the Neptunia Re;Birth games. In those, random battles would lock up nearly every time unless the game was played in windowed mode. When I looked online, I was not the only person to have that issue, but I seemed to be the only person who was able to use windowed mode as a solution. Similarly, the Danganronpa game has crashing as a frequent problem, but no working solution or work-around. So, I guess the things for me to test would be controller/no-controller, and full-screen/windowed to see if that helps any.
On a completely different note, like I said, I'm playing Persona 5. I'm just starting the first Palace after Summer Break. (Palace 5, I think?) From the plot, I'm seeing some similarities to Persona 3 regarding Apathy Syndrome compared to the shutdown cases, so I guess it's nice to get some additional details about what was going on in P3. Also...

Yesyesyesyesyesyes please! Can someone mod it!? But yeah, seriously, that not only would make more sense, but it actually seems like it'd be easier, and more reliable to implement as it would use the gyroscope exclusively, and not need the IR pointer at all. My theory is that, since they had to make Wii Motion Plus eventually, this just wasn't an option when the game was made as the gyroscopic mechanism it shipped with may not have been advanced enough
.
Been playing some more mods in Hat in Time, and seeing how we've been talking about Mario for like 20 pages now, I thought TS might appreciate this mod (No major spoilers, besides that it has mods, if you wanted to go in blind. There's also hats). I don't expect you to watch all 8 minutes, but it's a nice little mod that you might recognize given your recent playthrough of Galaxy
.
Yeah, also, shout outs to me for not actually achieving anything at all in 8 minutes. ![]()

I actually saw that posted on their Twitter. Hey, it's that Galaxy I skipped entirely because it's just a copy of Honeyhive Galaxy but backwards! ![]()

I did take a 55-hour break to collect all the moons in Super Mario Odyssey, though. Man, that game is a blast. The controls are so tight and the kingdoms have a really nice flow to them. Not to mention the music, which is catchy but diverse and atmospheric. I'll admit that I did pay for one moon hint in the game, but that was it. (Also, The Satellite, you are crazy fast on those freerunning challenges!!)
Eventually, Splatoon 2 is going to get old... And then what do I do? I think I'll pass on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 because I wasn't a big fan of X... Maybe go for Skyrim? I still have to finish Darksiders: Warmastered Edition for the Wii U, so I might polish that one off before anything else.

Some of my friends have even faster... though I did manage to pick out optimal routes in most places. Maybe I might go back to the game at one point just for freerunning top times. ![]()

For what it's worth, Xenoblade 2 is more like the original game and won't share too many similarities with X other than... well, actually the battle system is a little different as well. Even from the first game, from what I've seen. I'm not sure if this game's meant to be more of a linear or wide open adventure, but if it's Xenoblade 1 linear, then it's a good linear, with huge open areas unlocked as you go that have tons of quests. Also hopefully the story should actually be much better this time around, since the writing team is from Xenoblade and not from X.

And it surprisingly works exactly how you'd expect, down to the capturing which is really impressive. It's not without its fan made jank though, but in a charming way. I just hope all these Mario mods don't land these guys in trouble. New chapter: Murder on the C&D Express.

The Wiimote only has an Accelerometer in it, no Gyroscope. The Wiimote+ adds a Gyroscope.

Oh, ok, welp, that explains that then.

Alright I dunno if I mentioned it before, but sometimes the camera in Galaxy is just downright awful—
... a fair few annoying camera screws...
Okay so apparently I did reference it. Such spots are usually scattered and don't dominate the game, but they're plentiful and terrible enough to hamper the overall experience at points. There's a late level where you have to chase three bunnies in the snow under a time limit, and the little fuckers like to run around near the edges where the camera warps if you get near them, throwing off your angle entirely. There's also other levels where the camera warps at a poor moment and throws my movement. I don't really blame the lack of proper camera controls via second thumbstick, because I think the screwy camera would still exist just due to the game and level design philosophy. It's honestly quite aggravating.
There's still a lot of good in Galaxy, amazingness even, and it still has the best sense of scale as well as sound design in the entire series, with plenty of great level design. However, at least from memory, I would actually also give it the honor of "worst camera" in the series. Odyssey's camera is perfection. 64's could be sometimes screwy but I don't recall it being as screwy from memory. It's been a while with Sunshine but I don't recall it being too bad either, especially since you have the C-stick to adjust it however you like. Did Galaxy 2's ever get this annoying? Honestly can't remember, but no time to go remind myself. Gotta beat the last few stars with Luigi... which is just beating Bowser to unlock the purple comet and then go through purple coin hell. And then beat Bowser again I think, I'm not sure how the 121st star gets unlocked with both bros...

So I just started playing Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. I played the original Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga back in the day and loved it. Finally get to play another in the series. Liking it a lot so far, and holy cow is it gorgeous! Especially considering this is DS. Guess I haven't really played much non-3D games on DS, but the large sprites, great color use and slick art style and animation all look awesome.
I don't know much about the DS Library to be honest. I've also got:
Mario Kart DS
Pokemon Diamond
Pokemon Black 2
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks
Mega Man Zero Collection
Mega Man ZX
Mega Man ZX Advent
Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble
Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt
Sonic Rush
I'd like to know what games you think are great on the DS, I kind of checked out of gaming for a while during that era.

Depends on the type of game that you like.
For straight-up platforming-
New Super Mario Bros. DS- Yes, it's like every other 2d Mario game. That isn't a bad thing.
Super Mario 64 DS- The classic game, with 3 new playable characters. You must switch out who you play in certain areas to get things. Adds a level of challenge even to those experienced with the game.
For action RPG-
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
Kingdom Hearts: Re: Coded- You have to be a fan of the series to understand the plots of these. Both have a good level of difficulty in some of their challenges; though the first is the better one in my opinion,
For normal RPG-
Chrono Trigger DS- The classic SNES game, with extra content in the form of two long bonus dungeons and a new ending.
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time- This one is slightly better than Bowser's Inside Story in my opinion; both in plot and gameplay. I've only beat it once, but I definitely enjoyed it.
Radiant Historia- I cannot praise this game enough. It takes the concept of time travel in a game to an entirely new level and has a ton of missions and endings.
For strategy RPG-
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift- While not as good as the PS1 or GBA tactics games; it's still decent.
Anyways; those are the ones in my library not on your list.
Oh; and I'm currently playing No Man's Sky.

Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume is good, but hard.
Dragon Quest 4/5/6/9 are fun, especially 9.
Solatorobo: Red the Hunter is a charming game, but is very expensive. Like, $70 loose expensive.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is probably the best one in the series.
The three DS Castlevanias are pretty fun as well.
All 4 Kirby games are fun, though all pretty different. (Squeak Squad and Super Star Ultra are kinda similar)
Fossil Fighters/Fossil Fighters Champions are fun little games as well.

That reminds me, I had to quit Chrono Trigger (Wii VC) for school when I got to the last boss a year or so ago. Is there a list of sidequests somewhere in the game? I know there are a bunch to do before you should take down the boss, esp. as I'm not strong enough yet.
