Why am I missing a key in level 4?  Is it that well hidden?

 

If you're where I think you are in Level 4, there's two possibilities for where the key is, as I had the same issue for a bit during my run of this quest.

Try killing all the enemies in the room northwest of the entrance and see where that gets you. (This is the key I was missing for the longest time.) Alternately, not far away from the door I suspect you're missing a key for is a room with a Bat Wizzrobe. There is a hidden passage in that chamber which will lead you to another key.

Considering I don't have a shield: do blue Like Likes eat anything important? Every time I get caught by one, I find myself frantically checking through my inventory for anything missing, and I'd like to know whether I need to do that.

And now I'm stuck in the desert maze. I have the key from going right a lot, but can't figure out the path at the point with the 4 crystals in the middle. I've tried everything to get hints from that room - killing everything, pushing the crystals, and using every item at my disposal on the crystals - aaaaaand I just figured out the hint and got through, lol. This happens to me a lot.

 

EDIT: I know there are some secrets on these screens (roughly in decreasing order of certainty), but I can't find them:

Also, I've found the final spellbook upgrade previously, but didn't have enough Hearts for it - now I do, but I can't find the book again. :/

 

Which enemy drops the red Rupee ring (which I'm assuming exists)? Never mind, sorted this out.

 

Finally: are there Pieces of Heart in Level 9 and the bonus dungeon? (Don't need to know where they are - just whether I'm barking up the wrong tree.)

There's a wall on the right that looks bombable, but isn't. Is that intentional? Am I doing something wrong?

 

I shot this switch a while ago, and all I got was some low rumbling noise. What did it do?

The last question can be answered without a spoiler tag. The answer is no, there is not a Piece of Heart in either Level 9 or the bonus dungeon. The last spellbook can be found...

... on Tropara. If you blew open the entrance before, just go back through caves until you find it. I believe it is in the central bit of the maze.

 

As for your other question...

The Gibdo to the north of the maze is right. Keep your eyes open as you wander the desert and watch to see if you can find something that hints at the solution to that central maze. You should retrace your steps all the way back to the key as you do so.

Yeah, I've been looking around there - no luck so far, but I haven't completely combed it yet. (EDIT: Found it.)

1. That's a tiling mistake.
2. It activates something on another screen.

And alright - I'd noticed that so many screens had a pickup, cave, fairy, or warp point that I thought they all did. Restrict my query to the first image, then.

i can't find level 6. i can't find that "green ring" i can't figure out the maze path the one that in classical zelda would be to lv 5. and don't know what some of the hints like "defeat the walking chests" is meaning.

Level 6

Level 6's entrance requires you to bomb a rock in the lower right of the west-most blue area of the overworld.

 

Green Armour

It's sold in a shop that you have to bomb open, and it's located in the eastern parts of the pink area on the overworld.

That hint isn't of any use to you... yet. You'll know what it's talking about when you find it. Same probably goes for the other hints you don't understand.

Maze path

I had to guess that one. There's a cave on that screen with an NPC I think is meant to indicate the game doesn't give you the answer anywhere.

 

I can't remember the exact path, but I do know that I needed the Flippers, that the final direction is north, and that all that's up there is a chest full of Rupees.

Old man

I don't know for sure, but he's the one from Zelda 2, and he shows up in the ending - which, combined with how the room looks, suggests to me that the final scene takes place in Tropara.

i'm really not digging "confusion" level. even if i've played 2 quests with that kind of theme dungon and my likelike quest(help to finish with me?) has something like a dungon with directions that go to the other room.
