It's in the first village you have to use a super bomb somewhere

You should have the Lens from the first bonus level.  Use that somewhere between Link's house and the exit to Hyrule Field and you should find it.

The directions he refers to are the cardinal directions of where certain areas are at in the world. For example, the mountain is north.

Use the spacebar map and see which cardinal direction each instance of the hint is located. That's your answer.

past the dead end with trees. You need to burn them with the wand and book.
