Just finished playing Spirit Forest. I must admit it was a nice game, pretty fun. But the final boss was terrible. It just wasn't fun, I ended up quitting, sorry, I wasn't that invested in the story to really go through with it.

@NewJourneysFire: Yeah, I admit.  The final boss is not that great at all.  I'm probably going to completely replace him when I polish this game for the database.  I'm glad you enjoyed at least a good chunk of it though.  Whenever I get the chance, I will watch your play-through.  Thanks for playing.

About "Turtles Hate Candy":

HeroOfFire, I think I've found everything I can find, but I still can't complete level 1.  I've found the stick, the candle, the boomerang, the bracelet, even the guantlet (but can't figure out where to use it), and I've bought a shield and 2 potions (lemonades).  In level 1, I got the boomerang from the goriyas, but there's a locked door to the north that I can't find a key for.  There's a bombable wall in a room with Stalfos all around, but no bomb bag to be found anywhere.  After getting the gauntlet, I tried pushing on all the skulls and solid rocks in the desert, but none of them budged.

I found the skull guy that says the hint about vines, but I've tried burning all the vines I've found and nothing happens to any of them.  I can't find the bow, bomb bag, ladder, raft or hammer (though I've seen places I could use them); I don't know what triggers the crystals (wand, maybe?) but I can't find that, either.  I'm not sure if the arrows trigger the green shield, but I can't find the bow, neither can I get close enough to see if the candle works on it.

A little help here??? :(  I really like your quest, but I'm stuck and can't find how to proceed.  Moosh couldn't either.  I think you might've overlooked something, unless you hid something under a rock with a burn flag or something unusual like that...

The vines you have to burn are red. They're the only ones like them on the overworld. Good luck with the rest of the quest, since it only gets more obtuse from there.

@newjourneysfire: After watching your playthrough of Spirit Forest, I feel there are some things I should note.

First, the music.  I wanted to actually focus on finishing the game in the limited time that I had, so I didn't spend as much time looking for more obscure, but unique tunes.  However, if I am using a midi that is widely known from another ZC game, I always want to know what game it originated from just to make sure I actually can give credit to the game that the music is coming from (I hope that makes sense).  For example, The Lost Isle Swamp is from Duke Nukem 3D, Waterworks Palace (Isle of Rebirth Level 6 music): Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and the Final Boss Theme (Or Venser's Theme): King Fighters '96.

Like I said with the final boss, I'm completely revamping it and finding a scripted enemy to replace it.  I didn't want to spend too much time looking for a scripted boss while I was running short on time.  I'm sorry that it kind of ruined the experience, but I'm glad you enjoyed at least most of the game itself.  Once again, thanks for playing!

Did you try shining the Boss Signal into the sky? I hear that's how you summon Bossman. I wonder who that masked man could be...

Please say it's a half naked Venser on steroids.

Voted for RedTribeLink, damn, that was one of the best shortest quests I've ever played! :D However, Spirit Forest and Fedora Toss were way too tied, both are fantastic made by great authors! But, by a cookie crumble, Spirit Forest won. Kudos to Moosh and RedTribeLink  But again, everyone did great in this Random Theme Contest.

Been meaning to give my small reviews of the entries for a while.

Russ: From what I've played, it looks to me you put a lot more effort in 9 hours than Dan did in 15 hours a year or two ago. A very interesting idea that, while there could be a bit more, understandably, you manged to pull this off with only 9 hours to go.

Moosh: You and Level 37 can go to the deepest, darkest pit of h......right, very interesting idea that works. Definitely an interesting way of fedora tipping that works well. there are a few, rage-worth levels but in all a pretty good entry.

Lejes: You planned for something big, but didn't quite finish it. The last 2 dungeons are interesting but overall the game could use quite a bit of polish. I do like the idea of being able to select your form of attack at the start of the game.

RedTribeLink: Very, very interesting setup. Being able to choose offense or defense at the start is a nice little twist(OFFENSE BABY, YEAH). There were a couple things that felt a little too cryptic and that final boss was pretty difficult, but felt good when I finally beta him. Also Ice block puzzles should never exist. I don't think I mentioned that enough. Overall, a very solid entry.

EddytheOliveira: I don't mind grinding for optional content, but when it's required, NO. While I did beat it, that was still kinda, yep.

HeroOfFire: Please tell me you made this from scratch in 2 weeks. This quest is the length of a normal quest (8 levels and a final) and it is very interesting. Normally I like the whole Metroid thing that Level 1 pull, put I prefer it when it's used constantly throughout the whole quest. Still, the dungeons and overworld were very nice and there were maybe too many heart pieces everywhere. My favorite of the entries.

I seem to be getting a lot of mixed opinions about this, but yeah, I can see what you and others mean. Maybe making a full grinding quest wasn't the best idea lol. At least I didn't make this a 9-dungeon grinding quest :P

I made mine in 6 hours, not 15. If you're going to try to jab at me, at least get the numbers right. :P

I still have a few to try out, though I've enjoyed what I've played so far. Which is some of Moosh's and Russ's.
