I just watched you guys play mine, and I'm glad you liked it :)

I can answer a question I saw in the chat. That yellow block at the beginning is killable, but only with this quests' version of the arrows, which just so happens to be a rocket launcher. They are 'crates' that were going to be used in another area, and I made them from basic enemies cause that was the fatest work around to not having arrow flags that can be triggered on a single basis. Unfortunately, that part was cut from the quest cause I ran out of time, and I put one there to test it, and just kind of forgot about it being there :P

I don't want to make any promises, but I kind of want to finish the original planned quest. The future areas were going to look more traditional, and not be all blocky, and spacy (Even though it's awesome).

If you guys haven't seen yet, I am making in-depth reviews for all of the two-week contest quests. You can find it here: http://www.purezc.ne...showtopic=60201. Feel free to talk about the reviews or the quests being reviewed. Also, as of current, I have two quest reviews up, and I hopefully plan to make another one every day if I am able to complete the quest in that day. I hope you all enjoy them, as I will be using my reviews to choose whose quest was the best! :D Thank you!

Alright then... after watching TS get repeatedly gang-raped by Gleeoks live via stream earlier today I can safely say two things: I made at least three rooms way too hard for public consumption (I even nerfed them once - this was unintended, sorry), and, that it's still up in the air whether or not turning an exploration based game into a frantic arena shooter is a good idea or not. Combined with the fact that a lot of ZC users use a keyboard (Blasphemers!) and/or have to relearn controls (ie; going from a minimal to a maximalist schema) , I would have to say that it is mostly a failed experiment. Well, heck. I think my quest ideas are always hit-or-miss. Sometimes I get inspired to try out an idea, and then sometimes others get inspired to try out new ideas from those, and sometimes it's a big WTF and almost-there stew.

Anyway, back to my point. My quest prototype was meant to be a bit challenging, but not to be a "challenge quest" - turns out it basically is. I know that a lot of people avoid these because it causes stress. (I was really feeling that vibe from TS today also... spooky!) So if you are one of those people and are somehow compelled or obligated to do a playthrough/stream/review just go ahead and skip it or click below:
Spoiler

I would rather someone have 10 minutes of fun rather than an hour of torment, despite what you might think. ;)

Other than that I was checking out some of the live streams today - (dang, I must be behind the times I guess) - it's like a big purezc event!
Good show guys.

Don't feel bad, Gleeok, I honestly liked the idea, I just think it was really brutal. Heck, I say leave it as is but give it a difficulty setting, let people learn it before attempting the tougher difficulties. And like I mentioned on stream, arena-style quests just aren't my thing, so don't feel discouraged just because I had some difficulty with it. I really did like what you put together, it was clever, and I think you should stick with it or at least do some minor retooling. Keep it, man. :)

Point taken. And yes, I actually did feel a little bad to be honest. :\
I also won't be around the whole week either, so that's partially why I posted some of that. (Man, I really could of used of beta-tester... Let this be a lesson for future 2-week contests!)

Also, just so you know: take out the Darknuts and Gleeoks and you would've beaten that easily. Don't try and deny it because I've seen it. ;)

Back on the quests:
I'm going to try and get through these in the next week or two. Played Avataro's quest already (friggin neat-o), am currently playing Vault of Souls, and Moosh wants me to play through his next. I will do my best to leave a review whenever I finish one as well.

I swear these keep getting better every year.

Yeah probably. Not very good at Gleeoks already, but Darknuts only give me a hassle when I'm trapped in small areas with them. Multiple of them. :P

I am currently playing though Avataro's entry, and wow. I can't stop playing it. This is one of the best puzzle quests I've ever seen, and it's a lot of fun. The dialogue is entertaining too. This quest has a lot of really cool tricks that make it feel very unique.

The response to the 2 weeks contest has been outstanding, guys. I'm so happy to see everyone enjoying all these new quests, completed or not. I saw Avataro's question about bug fixing, and I think that if the participants want to implement bug fixes, they should start a quest project of the same name, but without the (2 weeks) on it, to let people know you've improved things since the submission deadline. For judging, it should probably be based on the original entries, bugs and all. I haven't talked with Russ yet about what categories we will put up for voting, but if you guys have some good ideas, please let us know.

Of course, we should give Russ a huge thanks for putting everything together for us (even while making an entry!). I hope to see more of these type of community events in the near future :)

Yes it surely was a huge success! The quests are great. Thank you Russ and peteandwally for moderating the contest and coming up with the idea to do it!

About your idea for bugfixing, I think that I won't do it that way. When the winner(s) of the contest is decided I will update my entry to include a "(Updated)" version in the zip file, while keeping the "(2 Week)" version too.

For rating, I'd appreciate if we used the sites poll feature, like in the other contests out there (sotw, etc). For categories I have these:

- Your favourite quest

- Your second favourite quest

- Your third favourite quest

- Favourite soundtrack/soundeffects

- Favourite graphics/screendesign

- Favourite story/dialogues

- Favourite humor/jokequest

- Favourite puzzles (yay! ;D)

Just an idea. :D

I like that. Those polls should definitely happen. (Expect maybe the puzzles because you'll win at that one  ;D)

Rather than having people pick their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices, I think I'm just going to have one poll where you can vote for multiple options, and tell people to vote for their favorite two. Then, I'll use the results from that to award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. I definitely like all the poll ideas you suggested, although The Avataro Award Favorite Puzzles might be kinda unfairly learning towards Avataro's entry, so... I dunno, I'll figure something out.

I have a funny idea, Why don't you have a poll where the people can vote for what categorys they want to vote in for the 2 Week contest  entries ? (Not really)

I see no reason for leaving out a best puzzles category. Avataro's definitely got that in the bag, but that's no reason to exclude the category.

That's actually not to bad of an idea if there is any uncertainty about what categories to have.

I don't know. I can't of disagree because Avataro would obviously but I guess I agree too because it makes a more variety of topics to place your favorite quest on. Since one quest or two fit in those extra categories.
