After reading through the thread I have the opinion that all of them shots we're submitted not too participate, but to get the contest running.
Submitting a shot just to get the thing moving is not a good idea.

 

Nulled because of this.

 

Ventus: Not enough detail + water is too rectangular which isn't your fault because MC water sucks anyways and is impossible to make rounded.

 

Dawnlight: Way too crowed and over detailed, plus them enemies are out of place lacking detail to match the over detail.

 

Bagel: This shot isn't too bad, but you forgot the moldorms. You're also using the wrong dungeon entrance tiles.

Submitting a shot just to get the thing moving is not a good idea.

I do this all the time. In fact, it is my only motivation to participate in SotW at all. What other reason do you suggest, though?

Except all of them were submitted without prompt, and except for one, were in at least two days before the contest started.

Why? The more participation we have in a contest, the merrier. People submitting shots at the last minute has been part of Screenshot of the Week since the very beginning. It doesn't justify nulling my vote.

It might be a good idea for people to have a backlog of potential screenshots to use in future SotWs.  That way, if there is a shortage, they are not rushing to put together a screenshot, but rather just choosing among screenshots they have already made (but never used before in SotW, of course).  Perhaps if someone wanted to submit more than one screenshot on the same day, one can be labeled for the next SotW number, and there can be an option to label something for a "future SotW", rather than the next one.  A little planning ahead for a rainy day.

Went with Dawnlight. Though the darknuts don't fit much to me, and would be a pain to face in some cases.

 

@Ventus: The land mass seems a bit plain, maybe touch up the bottom left side of the screen so the ground is not so rectangular. Sorry I can't explain more then that. I like the palette though!
