posting a PM conversation here for my own ease of reference. I know it's not cool to make public a private conversation, but there's nothing to be secretive over, here. I hope this will help me a lot when I open this quest back up, tomorrow.

---

rereading your help on colors, I noticed that you wrote that the gleeoks have their own set that is independent of the level-independent colorset 9. how do I alter that? I want to change the gleeoks colors and I cannot figure it out. thanks!

---

Go to Quest > Graphics > Palettes > Sprites.
It'll ask you which sprite palette to edit: click '1' A palette will pop up.
Each cset in the palette refers to:
0: Aquamentus
1: Gleeok
2: Digdogger
3: Ganon
4: stunned Ganon
5: Ganon's dust pile after you kill him
6: Link's palette with the blue ring equipped
7: Link's palette with the red ring equipped
8: Link's palette with the gold ring equipped
9: The "select save game" Link icon in the green tunic
10: Icon for the blue ring
11: Icon for the red ring
12: Icon for the gold ring
13: ?
14: ? (not sure about either of those)
There'll be a big button at the bottom left that says "Load to CS 9". If you select cset 1, then click "Load to CS 9", then "Done", you can open up the Tile Editor (Quest > Graphics > Tiles), find your Gleeok tile, then use +/- to scroll through to cset 9. Now you can edit the tiles in the proper colours.

thanks, NoeL!

with no gold ring in 1.90, I'm wondering if any of the other sprite colors are in different slots in the older version. anyway, that helpful list contains the information we need, so I feel better about what the early screens will feature. aquamentus animates differently than I thought, but I have a few ideas for making it into the enemy we want it to be. I doubt we'll do that before the demo. I'm aiming for a Monday, the sixth, "release," but the only promise is having one out by the start of Winter. expect another update after some serious work tomorrow. Jerram is surely the hero of late. and he likes rice. mmm....

edit: I also like rice. I prefer white rice. I like it best with some trichomes soaked in at the last chance while the rice is still absorbing water. mmm. also, being the sixth, I must report that my partner in this questmaking adventure was not able to report for duty yesterday. I did a bit of work without him, but I still need to make death scenes before the demo is ready. I'll start as soon as I switch computers. thanks for checking in.

hehe. oops! no raft.

the bombs are a prize for killing some bats.

there will be zero shops in the game, as the plan stands now.

in fact, I plan to use no text at all, so there are fewer language barriers.

Victor, I think you have essentially finished the demo. there's nowhere to bomb or anything like that. I removed the extra flags like the raft stuff. the first post now reflects tomorrow's date for the updated demo file in the link. thanks!

two days, four hundred more views and zero new comments? how about "too limited, too much tile repetition, not enough to do...." and stuff like that?

Nice... is the lens of truth the end of the demo?

Looks like something the Brothers Chaps would make.

yes and who? did some more work on it this weekend (and will likely continue tomorrow), including replacing the bowl (lens) with a lighter (candle), as, logically, you'd need a source of fire to use your smoking device. added some variety to the repetitive tiles (like the rock walls and the rock path barriers), but there are still more to be done (like the dirt and sand paths). further levels are under general development, but the actual construction has yet to begin. we also need to get all of what has been done onto one combo page, which will involve redoing the screens to the right of the starting point. what else... uh, waves have been animated (decently, but not expertly) and some enemies have been designed and planned. the plot progression has been expanded and refined. this quest is certainly well-planned, but the time to get things done is not quite abundant nor often enough for my hopes. it will progress, though. slowly. I hope to have a revision of the demo posted this week. it likely won't be too much more than what it is currently, but I do want to replace what is out there with what is currently working out for us. the whole thing looks prettier than it did. blah, blah, blah. thanks for playing. all comments and questions are welcomed.

The Brothers Chaps are the creators of Homestar Runner.

It looks like a pretty cute quest. I like the artstyle and how you're not going to be using text - gives it a unique flavor.
