Thanks Russ, lately I've been designing from a perspective that instead of drawing on flat land, that every screen is a block that I can cut into. Alot of my rivers because of this new perspective looks like they dig into the land a bit. This river in particular is almost like an underground river and the land just caved in above it. That's the "effect" I'n trying to display.

I am planning on making all of Lanayru a very high region in regards to altitude. It wasn't going nowhere with the way I was designing it. So in many screens you'll hear ocean, knowing that its near, but see mostly cliff sides on screen.

I really like the fence tile in that bottom left conor. I can't really say why, though. The palette is quite pleasing and the new grass looks interesting. though I would edit the flowers to blend in better, too. The more defined water borders are a nice touch, too.

Nice! I like this sand/ quicksand logic you are using. I did something similar in BSMC a while ago. I don't think that palm trees are the best choice for a desert, though. I can imagine them near some oasis but not amongst all of the sand. Then again, it's video games, so logic might be out of place to begin with. Palette is nice.

Both of you need to fix your subscreens, though. :) And: Is this part of an actual project? What do you have in mind for such a project?

Thanks! When I saw your BSMC desert shot I kinda wanted to do a similar thing and make river of quicksand span across a desert screen. I agree about the palms somewhat but I'm afraid the desert will be too brown. Also about the palette, that's your Volcano Adventure one. :P Yeah, the subscreen will be redone to something more pleasant I can say this could be the start of an actual project; but I won't go as far as to say what it will be... since I'm in no right to give the details without letting Jared know first before giving infomation away. Sorries. D:

I thought the detailing was a mess (distracted the screen too much.), so I redid it without making it look too carried away. I also tossed in alternative cacti tiles (thanks to Lightwulf who did them in classic (I redone them in GB), according to LordVolcanon who gave me permission to use them, so thank you both!) and replaced all palms with dead trees just for the sake of it being more desert-y. Also replaced most grass-like details with something more withered to help the theme.

Thank you for the compliments, Sheik. How could I edit the flowers to blend better though? And thanks!

We definitely have plans to edit the subscreens later on. We do have a secret project! But it's staying hidden, besides these two screenshots until we announce it.

So enjoy them for now! ;)

@Jared: The actual flowers are alright. The grass that's on the same tile as the flowers just looks out of place. I'd replace it with the sticky grass you have on all other tiles or just leave those two 8x8 pixel blocks blank (green).

@Shane: Oh no, you misunderstood me! I wasn't saying the palm trees look bad, in fact I really like how they work in the screen. They just don't make too much sense. But again, it's video game logic that can be applied here, so who gives a damn. You could argue that my Eramus Desert in fFK looks like a garden, but I don't really mind as long as it's pleasent to the eye. (Anyways, looking good with only dead trees too. Gives off a more serious vibe.)

Oh. >_<

I'm glad you like the edited one! I kinda wanted a serious vibe for the desert area. Also if you're curious about those two skulls on the mountain wall, you'll be seeing them throughout the desert. ;)

Looking at the palette again, I would suggest to edit all blacks to 0/0/0 RGB value. Seems to work best with the simplicity of the GB tileset.

Beautiful design as always, Mitch. I don't know what advice I can offer.

The pots look bad but other than this it's a very nice screen! I like it.
