Another map update. This one would have actually been up two days ago, but I was having some problems with the internet on Monday night until now. All of Level 8 plus the Mountains have been added, and there were updates to some other maps.

Map List

Petoe - Our worst fears (well, maybe not worst fears) have been confirmed. There are in fact 58 LEPs in the game, since I found three more in Level 8. Like you said, this is a good thing to a certain extent, since it helps the players, but it just makes you look bad. Oh well. The quest is amazing otherwise, one little mistake isn't going to hurt you.

The only other thing I can say is that the maps for Level 9 will probably not be done soon, and even when they are, I'm worried about putting them up at all because of Spoiler issues.

Oh don't worry about me looking bad. icon_smile.gif I'm not a liked person anyways so it doesn't matter as long as people won't bash the quest because of the LEP mistake I made. It makes the quest a bit easier but not worse IMO.

Oh and something was missing from the "Level 8 - Research Laboratory" map. In the eastern part where there's 20 Zens laying on the floor, there are 3 dark barrels next to the Zens. When you melt the barrels you get access to a statue room.

And about spoilers, I agree with you. Since nothing too complex happens after Level 9, I'd say the best thing to do is to end the map making after the 9th level so that the tower would remain as the last map... though people might want some maps for the challenges as well, but let's talk about those special challenges after you've reached that far.

Yeah. You don't wanna spoil the ending but IMO those challenges should be explained with maps. But I'm just an outsider whose opinion doesn't really matter so you discuss it with Jish, I had nothing to do with the production of MMDWR. Unfortunately. lol icon_wink.gif

I got inspired to play MMDWR again after viewing those maps. However, my gameplay has been completely crippled by bugs. As I was entering the 4th level, ZC crashed, and then I lost everything up until before the 3rd level. I beat the ship again, and I saved immediately afterward to avoid losing my progress again.

Now, whenever I load the game, I start on the 6th deck of the ship, and I can go and kill the boss. When the boss is dead, there is no triforce in the room behind him since I already have it. I tried leaving the ship, but there is a door that blocks traveling backwards on the 3rd deck. Even if I was able to leave through that way, the flags for beating the level wouldn't trigger (i.e. the ship would still be there) even though I beat the level. Is there any way, using ZConsole or otherwise to get past that empty triforce room? My idea was to walk through walls to get to the scene where Megaman kills the robots right before he leaves the level. The only ZConsole I have found is for 183, and I am using 184 player.

Agh! icon_mad.gif
184 player... that's the reason you're having those major bugs. Rats, I thought I made it pretty clear in all of the MMDWR threads NOT TO USE 1.92 BUILD 182 or 184. The quest was made for ZC 1.92 Build 183 and it works perfectly on that version. I've also tried playing the game on ZC 2.10 and it has worked pretty well with some minor bugs.

I don't know much about those ZC Console cheating programs, but I'm pretty sure there isn't one for the 184 build. All you can do is to get either the best version (ZC 1.92 build 183) or the second best one (which is the most recent public release, 2.10)

Sorry to hear that this is not your first time when your progress was ruined by bugs. BUT in my opinion I have made it very clear what versions to avoid when playing MMDWR DC... icon_shrug.gif

NEW INFO: Rats! I just finished MMDWR DC with ZC 2.10, and because of its renewed continue system it seems like all players who finish MMDWR DC with ZC 2.10 won't be able to view the special ending that comes after the "official" ending. So you can only access that ending by finishing the game with my favorite ZC build 183. icon_heh.gif

Now the special ending isn't that big of a deal, you just can get to a new area on the overwolrd and access a party house where you can chat with people from PureZC, and you can also talk to Roll and Dr. Light in the special ending.

Oh well... these kind of things happen when the program changes pretty drastically every now and then. It's a shame really... icon_shrug.gif

I think the maps deserve their own thread, and since I don't have a forum here anymore, I made a MMDWR DC Map Thread to my own little borad (which I made just for fun, but it starting to become surprisingly active... icon_blink.gif )

Anyways, I hope you don't mind, Jish.
Oh and not to sound too impatient or anything but what's your progress with the Tower maps? icon_wink.gif

Your map thread is missing some of the maps. Just wanted to point that out. icon_razz.gif

WARNING!!
Oh by the way! I was testing the new beta 6 and MMDWR doesn't seem to work in it! You can't get the items because you warp before you can get the items. icon_sigh.gif
Peteo, do you know more about this all?

Yeah... about those Tower maps, I'm not sure if they will ever actually be made. I have loved the quest up to this point, and consider it among my favorite games (not quests, GAMES), but now even though I'm so close to the end, for some reason I don't feel like finishing it. I probably will eventually, but not soon.

All my effort is currently going into finishing Bikdip's Adventure 2 before the 24th (next Monday). I really, REALLY hope I can do it in time, but I don't think I can make it. I still have to...
- Finish Level 9
- Wait until my friend has some free time so he can make Cutscene 4
- Create Cutscene 5
- Create the ending
- Add the Easter Eggs
- Add all the Strings at once (see my topic, "HORRIBLE problem in 1.90, [I may die]")
- Get 10 interesting-but-not-revealing screenshots for the PureZC database when it is submitted
- transfer some crap to another computer so I can put all the stuff together
- possibly tweak the 'novel' at bit (the readme, I call it the novel because its a freaking 30 KB Notepad document)
- submit it
- create a web page for one of the easter eggs

Phew. That's a lot of work. Anyway, be sure to look for the quest when it is added. I really hope people will enjoy it.

Ahh, so you are trying to finish your own quest ASAP. Well it's perfectly understandable that people's own quests go ahead of everything else. icon_smile.gif At least that's the case with me... there are some interesting quests out there, but I have no time to play them since I'm currently finishing up my own, newest quest. And oh I would love to help you too after the maps you created... icon_neutral.gif Dang.
Anyways, maybe I can make the tower maps myself, but if I'd send them to you could you upload them to your imageshack account since the rest of the maps are there too?

Oh and Johan, I know that nasty bug. I even reported it to AGN's bug forum. Now I'm just waiting for a response about is the warping change intentional or an accident. If it's intentional, then ****... I have to make yet another version of MMDWR...

This doesn't really affect you in any way, and is very off-topic, but I just had a terrible revelation and I want to discuss it. In my "HORRIBLE problem in 1.90, [I may die]" topic, I explained my conflict with message strings and how I reached the limit. It seemed like there was a roundabout solution to it, but I guess not. The limit for strings has been reached at 127 max, and I have to add like 130 more. So I'm breaking the quest into two parts now. The first is in 1.90 and contains 8 levels. The second is in 1.92 and contains the last level and all the cutscenes related to it.
It really hurts me to do this. The entire point of the quest is that it is very long and in-depth, yet still uses the old 1.90 version. It was going so well, too. *sigh*

Stupid message string limit. There was even hope that I could make the second half in 1.90, but if there are really as many strings as I anticipate, it would still be over the limit.

Oh man. The good old 1.90 is not so good in this case... icon_frown.gif

Yeah, all the limits 1.90 has... they may come as a surprise since the limits haven't been told anywhere. I ditched 1.90 right after my first quest. Well, I actually started working on MMDWR graphics on 1.90, but thank god I decided to make DWR an "advanced superquest" meaning that I had to move to a newer version... ZC 1.92 build 104 I think it was back then.

Anyways, why don't you just save your quest in a newer version of ZC? Of course it would mean that you cannot play it in 1.90 as you intended, but is making 2 different .qst files better in your opinion than taking the quest from 1.90 and making it playable only on newer versions? I guess you have given some serious thought about that, or maybe not, but I'd just like to know...

Oh and to back on topic, I ask again: If I make the remaining maps, could you put them on Imageshack? icon_smile.gif

Well, this new method is going to work out ok in the long run, its just kind of messy. I will not change the first part to be in a later version, since that goes against everything the quest stands for. It was supposed to amaze people that I could have something so large and complicated in 1.90. It even had cutscenes. But seeing as how there is no way around this problem other than using individual letter tiles for all of the 150+ message strings - which is impossible in itself because those letters are bigger and the messages would have to be shorter - I'm settling with this idea.

About the maps, sure, why not. I'd be fine with that.

First off just want to say Petoe I love the quest, especially the side-scrolling mini-levels those are great. But anyway I was just wondering if you ever heard of a bug in 2.10 that made certain shops not work. Mainly the heat beam upgrade one. The energy refill place doesn't either but I can live with out that.

I know I shouldve used 1.92 but Im kinda new to ZC and I didn't see that until afterwards icon_eek.gif I guess I could live without the heat beam upgrade too but ya..anyway just lemme know if its a 2.10 problem or what.

icon_redface.gif I suck at quests.

How do you get into the Mega City Power Plant...

I'm so confused.

I just started the quest.
