That's why I said you should buy the original game still. ("You could always buy one version and then find a Rom")
Well, it was so we could each have our own Pokéwalker. icon_razz.gif

Also I'm fairly certain it's not legal or illegal and it just falls into some weird grey area that no one dare define besides the occasional lawyer who has to. I can't take Nintendo seriously because of course their going to be anti-piracy.
It was the best I could do. I don't know where to look to find legal stances on issues besides Wikipedia, and even then I couldn't find much, not that I was going to use it as a source.

Ah... in that case I suppose you could actually share that. It would be easier than a game cartridge for sure.

Do you know who's a total badass who doesn't give a ****?
IPB Image

This guy. Best character ever, just goes around calling everyone weak and not giving a ****. Beat him? Pokemons fault. He's got to hit them harder. Stealing? **** yeah give me that Totadile. Badass.

I've also found it fun to try to beat my Rivals starter with mine every time. Thus far it's been ok, but beating him when he had water gun cost me a bunch of super potions.

EDIT (again): Currently just pulled into Goldenrod. Team thus far:
Quilava AKA "SquekyHeat" Lv.21
Pigeotto AKA "SQUAWK?!" Lv.20
BellsproutAKA "Thing" Lv.5
Toegipi AKA "Eggie" Lv.4

I have no intentions on raising the bellsprout or togepi, and just about to go and get a Sunkren to start on the path of obtaining a Sunflora. Woop Woop!

Wait. Each Pokéwalker's not linked to one specific game?

I used to do that. Recently, though, all I've done was pwn his Feraligatr with my Weepinbell (who is now a Victreebell). I think I only did the starter vs. starter matchups religiously in R/B, but my Charizard was level 100, anyway, so it wasn't much of a problem. icon_razz.gif

Um...I wouldn't be getting legal advice on copyright from Nintendo. For starters, let me say that as of the enactment of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, it is indeed illegal to make a copy of a videogame PERIOD. As for the copies themselves, that's a legal grey zone for the following reason:

Basic copyright law stipulates a "personal use" exception to the "no copying" rule. Big Media (Dawkins wept, that's a sorry word to have to type) have been desperate to argue that this only applies if they were selling it in the absence of a licensing agreement, which they claim they are most certainly not. Their claimed stipulations are that the money you give them in exchange for the product (videogame) only covers the purchase outright of the media itself. Therefore, the only thing you technically own is a blank disc, cartridge, or card, and an intangible LICENSE. There are three problems with this:

1. There is no attempt whatsoever to convey this to the consumer in a clear and forthright manner. Consequently...

2. The consumer's yea or nay is never established.

3. And besides all that, this entire legal theory conveniently assumes that an EULA is legally binding. In reality, NO SUCH TEST OF LEGALITY HAS BEEN MADE. In other words, no court has ever ruled on the validity of an EULA, and never will, if Big Media has its way.

Now do you see the grey zone?

It is, of course, still patently illegal to make a copy of a work not in the public domain and distribute it.

(IANAL).

I think the Pokewalker was a great marketing strategy. People will still buy the game just to get ahold of that pokewalker. I mean, with the pokewalker you can catch pokemon on the road and obtain rare items. Isn't that neat? icon_razz.gif Can't wait, I'm bringing Umbreon and Chikorita everywhere with me. And plus the best and nostalgic way to fully enjoy the game is if you play it on your DS because it is problem and glitch free.

Ya, if anything, the Pokewalker will make less people pirate the game so they can use the Pokewalker. Looks awesome to me.

To the guy who is talking about Wal-mart. The won't ask for money if it gets to your door step. My mom has canceled orders and received that package anyway. You get to keep it if you don't tell icon_smile.gif

ZOMG I remember Squeaky Heat :3
Ah, memories.

Anyway, I prefer to rape my rival with whatever it's weak to. Maybe if he/she wasn't such a jerk all the time, I'd go the other route.

I still really want one of those. Now that I've started to work out, I could actually use it icon_biggrin.gif

**** YEAH SUNFLORA!

After three hours of battling trying to win the bug catching contest for a sun stone I finally got one and now have 3/6 of my desired team. Also caught a Pinsir. Training will start shorting.

Team thus far:
Pidgeotto Lv.22 - SCRAW?!
Quilava Lv.21 - SquekyHeat
Sunflora Lv.12 - Sun****era
Pinser Lv.14 - Sir Pinser

I might also buy the game on Sunday or Monday or Tuesday or so. This is good enough that I wouldn't mind a second game that didn't freeze up every 30 minutes. On the bright side I've developed a paranoid habit of saving, but eh, it's still good. I was mistaken earlier too, apparently lots of 13 year olds know about flash cards; as evidence by the thousands of "HEY MY HEART GOLD GAME GOES TO A BLACK SCREEN OCCASIONALLY OR FREEZES RANDOMLY" threads popping up everywhere; only to be met with; "yeah, Anti-Piracy. We're workin on it. Go away."

EDIT: In Pokemon there is no cure for love :3

(which is really annoying. Here's lookin' at you Whitney, curse my all male team.)

I dread meeting Whitney when I get the game tomorrow; lowering its accuracy is the "best" way to defeat it but I don't really plan on having a Spearow/Pidgey because I've already caught them about 15 times before (plus, they'd just be a huge disappointment after Staraptor). I really just want to use stuff that I haven't used before; Crobat, Starmie, Houndoom, etc.

Well, really the killer thing about Whitney is this: as far as her Miltank goes, the longer the battle, the more the outcome is in her favor. This leaves you with two options: break up Miltank's attack (if I remember correctly, the first turn rollout doesn't hit, its damage amount is reset) or kill it quickly. Now, the first option is risky, but viable (because it is accomplished through many status effects). The second option is not likely to happen at all, due to the fact Miltank is built like....Well, a TANK.

Of course, before even fighting Miltank, you have to get through at least one Clefairy, I believe. And yes, it does have sing. icon_frown.gif

Also for Whitney, you can get a powerful fighting-type before running through her gym; at the top of the Goldenrod Dept. Store, there's a guy who will trade a Machop for a Drowzee (a great trade if I ever saw one) and Low Kick will absolutely destroy Miltank if you get him before Lv. 13. In addition, being a Fighting-Type, he resists Rollout. As icing on the cake, he also comes with the Macho Brace (!!), a key item for EV training. icon_biggrin.gif I was never big on the Machop family, but Fighting is a great type and I'm sure someone can use this.

What's EV training?

When a Pokemon defeats another, it gets EVs, or Effort Values. However much it gets depends on the species of Pokemon it beat. You can get EVs for HP, speed, attack, defense, special attack, and special defense. A Pokemon can have a maximum of 512 EVs, but only 255 per category. EV training, then, is defeating specific species of Pokemon to get certain EVs to strategically boost certain stats.
