(Also trying to figure out why Link's tunic turned yellow, when it should be red; in the autumn palette O_o)

Did you ever figure out the tunic color issue? Could it be there was a cycling palette where that palette originally was that's writing over CSet 6? That's the only way I know of to change Link's coloring outside of transparent layering issues.

Isn't there a quest rule regarding Link's colours on certain levels? 'No Palette 3 CSet 6 Fix'? Could that be a problem here?

Looks good to me, reminds me of DKC. It'll be interesting to see the screen transitions. I like how the stone looks like it's IN the swamp / water.

So, this thing is pretty cool.

Sorta wishing it were my SotW entry now. It's not like I expected to finish it in time-- took me a week, and it's still not flawless. But it's getting there. (Oh, this is no static image. It animates. Like it ought to in any good video game.)

Well, now that SotW400 is already underway, I'll ask for feedback on the changes I made to my forest. (I dunno why, but I wanted to wait until after SotW had started before putting my picture on here.)

For comparison's sake, the original version is on the left, and the new version is on the right...

The big comment I had gotten before that I tried to address was that I needed more of a foggy palette to match my transparent clouds. This is what I came up with.

I know it looks rather hard to see most things on here, but just know that Link and enemies will really pop out since they don't have the same fogginess to them as the ground does, so maneuvering and battle shouldn't be all that difficult. (I took the pictures in ZQuest, the area's not finished enough to need playtesting yet, so I just took the pictures during development.)

Personally, I like the old palette better. The new one might be more realistic, but it's also really hard to see anything. Graphics should serve to further gameplay, not hinder it. Setting the mood's fine, but when it feels like the player's struggling against the graphics, you need to change things.

Same. The old palette looks more like an actual screenshot from a video game, and less like an abstract mosaic.

Mmm icon_frown.gif Kinda sad that (almost) nobody said a word about my work that took me a week...

I've still got my old palette, it's really easy for me to switch the colors back.

Regarding your picture, I originally didn't say anything because it seemed really straightforward, honestly. I'm not very good at the technical parts to it, and generally just look at the artistic side. I like the idea, and it's really impressive (as usual), it's just that the only thing I can really think of to ask is how the game determines your scores for each category. Does it do something like start at 100 and deduce points as the fight goes on? (getting hit subtracts 15 points from technique, time decreases by 1 every three seconds, etc.)
