I know this is really sad, but I'm more of a fan of the screenshot itself with the Classic Tileset than the Link tiles you made. icon_heh.gif Love what you did with the shape of the river especially-- even if there's not much walkable space for Link, it's still a very pleasing shot. (In Classic. icon_razz.gif) Perfect for "completing" the corner of an overworld segment and closing off all the gaps.

What tileset do you most frequently use? You ought to use Classic and make a quest with it, after you finish whichever one you're working on at the moment. The thing I love most about Classic is that you can modify it and easily make it "yours", both in terms of graphics and palettes. As awful with graphics as I am, I'm even somewhat able to create stuff when things are kept simple like this. So if you like to innovate the same way as me, you'd probably love it too. Give it some thought!

Posted this in the "What did you do today" thread, figured I'd post here for feedback.

Wanted to know opinions on the subscreen layout (Ignore the top-left corner please) and the tileset I put together. I used the new 2.5 version of EZGBZ as a starting point, mainly because I'm slightly lazy and the sprites were already drawn for me and just needed more colors and shading. How's it look? It's the first floor of my main dungeon, named "Hero's Arena" (the floor, not the dungeon) The room's empty because it's going to be a shop, I just haven't set it up yet and am using it as a starting point for testing. (Would appreciate if anybody else would like to test what I've got so far as well.)

Nice colors, was it based on making it look like Newfirst?

I frequent Dance of Remembrance. And thus, I formed the screen on that. I always form my screens in similar ways. But you actually think it's that good? I just threw it together...xD

Actually, no. You see, I love the graphics in EZGBZ, but I wanted to add more colors so everything didn't use that catch-all off-yellow color. I don't know what tileset it's from, but you know that first dungeon in Link to the Heavens DX? (I think that's the quest) I used the brick pattern as a starting point for the dungeon tileset, along with tweaking the colors for one of the floor tiles in EZGBZ. I've never actually used Newfirst.

I accidentally skipped over this. Very nice colors, and set! They even seem like they would work with GB-styled dungeon building. Well done! icon_smile.gif

Weren't you working on this ages ago? Like, a year or more? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else... If it is you, have you been hard at work at this for a whole year, or did you go on a haitus?

I went on a haitus. icon_frown.gif Don't be like me...

Sort of haitus, sort of being really lazy. Remember when I was asking how to copy/paste secrets and flags between screens? Trying to do all of that manually kind of turned me off my project for a long while. Before that, I decided to stop for a bit and work on a different project because I needed to learn how to do some things first. This quest is another one I'm using to learn some things I need for my two real projects. (One is the quest I was originally working on about a year ago, the other is one that I REALLY wanted to do because it seemed awesome and nobody seems to have done it before.)

One of the things that has been giving me a lot of trouble is trying to figure out palette-making, so I decided to start over using a pre-made tileset as a starting point to try and get this working right. When I'm done, I'll have all the resources I'll need put together for my two main projects.

It's been a while since I showed anything. This is work-in-progress, but I think it looks pretty good.

Nope... doesn't look good... It's amazing. icon_biggrin.gif

That's how I want to see people use the GB set! Two thumbs up!

Thanks Shane. icon_smile.gif I'm waiting on Tingle to respond so I can send him the .qst file so he can finish what I started. Then it's off to work on level 2 for you, Tingle, and myself.

Good stuff here, though, the screen doesn't feel right IMO. Not that it really lacks anything, but it's nothing new and amazing, either.

I like it, reminds me of me. It's very new, something we've not seen in ZC. The simplicity and monochrome mint green draws my attention in. Those water wave tiles could be outlined more, for its a little hard to tell what specifically is there
