I actually don't mind the location of the d-pad on the 3DS, but that sucks D: They should've just had you hold down B (or have a button on the touch screen to take them on or off) to use the rollerblades.
Honestly, having to hold down B bugs me, because occasionally, I like to just move around in the game with one hand while I'm doing other stuff, and having to hold down a button kinda prevents me from doing that. Having it be a touch screen button like in HG/SS would be MUCH better, in my opinion. But oh well.

Gotta agree, I don't like holding down B. HG/SS had so many things right; why are they not sticking with these changes? Also, re part of the leaked info:

More data that explains Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Transporter. I dig it. No more having to get a second DS to move all your Pokemon. I also like the cloud features, because I'd assume if you store your Pokemon there and then lose your copy of X/Y, you at least would still have the Pokemon in your bank.
No more having a second DS, assuming you only have Black & White pokemon games to transfer that is. On the official site it says only Black & White and up are compatible.
Which means, I can't transfer anything from Diamond, Pearl and Platinum I own until I buy a Black/White/Black2/White2 game, finish that and transfer them to that game. To do that I'm also going to need a second system anyway. At least my 3DS and DS Lite will work, but that's still a really bad setup for anyone who got rid of their DS or never had one to begin with...

Is it worth complaining about? I don't think so.

Call me a smart-aleck, but this is me showing you why I don't think it isn't worth complaining about unless you wish to complain about how B/W did the exact same thing (minus the pokemon bank, which is minor as far as this is concerned).

So I'm not gonna complain about that. I WILL however complain about not being able to actually trade from Gen 5 to 6 until December 27th. Or without a subscription. Now THAT is kinda stupid.

I do have to agree; it is pretty annoying that I have to pay to actually just simply trade Pokémon. Are they afraid that we are going to beat the entire game by using Lv. 100s from another game? I never do that; only some people do. That's why it is kind of weird for them to do that.

Your edited message makes no sense btw.
Difference being that Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold and Soul Silver are on the same system as Black/White/Black2/White2. How would you feel if you could only transfer GBA pokemon in the DS titles only through Emerald instead of all 5 of them?
Regardless, it's safe to say I won't be using Pokemon Bank as with this game and ALBW this year, I don't have another $35 to spend on another game just so my shinies from Diamond can be in XY.

Still, you would still require 2 DSes and that the DSi is not compatible with the GBA. Wouldn't that make it worse than the issue with X/Y because you would have to buy a new DS just so that you can trade if you happened to sell/trade in your old DS to get your DSi or 3DS. The subscription price is really a drop in the bucket compared to a new DS. Still, being forced to pay for subscription is a stupud move especially when many people already have a second DS.
By $35 I was referring to needing to get a copy of Black/White/Black2/White2.
I still need two systems to transfer Pokemon from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum to Black/White/Black2/White2 anyway. So lose lose if you have Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and want them in XY. DS/DS Lites at least had the GBA Slot anyway so technically you don't need a second system which is nice. Never had a DSi, so didn't know that.
Anyhow, I'm done complaining. I'm just really disappointed I need to get a new game if I want my pokes in XY. I kinda feel like they could've had support for those games too with this instead of the jumbled mess it is.

Alright guys, I feel like I've played this enough to give you a little more than a first impression. Mind you, I have yet to beat the second gym, so I'm not too far into the game... so I guess it'd be better if you consider this more of a first impressions 1.2. Also mind you, I'm not technically allowed to speak about this yet, but we're a pretty small community and I doubt it'll be a problem. If it does, then ouch, that sucks for me, but if anyone comes around asking about me, my name is Alfred Jockermacker, and I come from Italy or something. Anyways... I'll keep this spoiler free though.
I said I've yet to beat the second gym, and that brings me to my first point: I've played now for ten hours, and I've yet to beat the second gym. What the fuck?! How did this happen? I honestly don't know. I have taken my time training, and probably more so than I ever have in a Pokemon-game, but come on, the second gym?
I think this is interesting. I still feel like I've done a whole lot up to this point, and I'm not sure if the timer still counts when the 3DS is on sleep or not, but I would not have guessed that I've spent ten hours yet. And I think that's because I've been having... fun. I was pretty skeptical of X and Y before actually playing them, and I had my reasons. This series has been stagnating for years now, and I don't think it has really been worthy of being called 'great' since the Ruby and Sapphire days. Don't get me wrong, there have been good games since then, but I don't think Diamond and Pearl, Black and White/2 was really all that worthy of being new releases. I don't think they added enough to the mix, and while they were definitively good games, they felt almost like add-on packs to what we've seen previously.
X and Y does not change everything. They are very much both classical and typical Pokemon-games. But it feels a lot more meaty, and for the most part I actually want to take part in the small, silly side stuff that I used to gloss over. This just feels a little fresher, and in many ways it actually feels like playing a game that actually has something to do with the anime that comes with. I've really only seen the oooold episodes of Pokemon, but the world I've experienced in X and Y reminds me a whole lot more of that world, than what we saw in say, Black and White. This is both good and bad.
The new engine allows for a lot of variation in terms of camera angles and so on, which again allows for stuff like actual cutscenes. This is great. There's a scene early on where you get to see some fireworks, and while the dialogue is really cheesy (I'll get back to this), but just because you actually get to see this stuff happening in the same space in which the gameplay takes place in, it's suddenly 'real'. If they wanted to do something like this in say, Ruby and Sapphire, they'd probably just have a character telling you that there's fireworks taking place in the sky.
But the people in this world? Eh... they're awkward. Everybody is so nice, even nicer than in previous games. There's a character involved with the fireworks scene I mentioned earlier, and that's like, one of the only people I've met so far that's supposed to be dislikeable. But he's not! I don't really understand why no one in the world doesn't like him, he wasn't so bad when I met him. It's like the writers doesn't know how to create people who aren't in some way super nice to you. Even the villains can't help it but complement you, and it's really weird. This is of course sort of a staple of the series, and I know it's supposed to be goofy, but it's a little over the top in X and Y. At the same time, this does create some funny moments - I was walking door to door in order to make sure I talked to everyone in this small town I was in, and I had five people in a row give me some sort of really useful item. They were giving me stuff that I never would give away to anyone. It's silly, but I was sort of hoping we'd see more of a contrast in the people that populated the world this time.
The gameplay itself is what you expect. It's got a lot of smaller changes and updates, and it's generally better. I won't go too far into this, as I've already made this post really long, but I really dig the battles this time around. I was jumping up and down when I was fighting a Bulbasaur and I saw his vines actually whip out of his little flower thing and slap my Pokemon's face. That's great! Finally. Also, Pikachu actually says Pikachu now. As far as I know, this only goes for Pikachu. But he'll not just say it as he enters battle, he'll say variations of it every time he attacks and stuff. It's so cool.
The overworld feels a little more open this time around, but you've still got usually just two ways into towns, and they sort of feel like train stops because of how they work. This is not new, and I've learned to accept it. It's okay, but I'd loved to see a little more of an open world this time around. But the big city is freaking awesome, and I'm not going to tell you one little thing about that, so you can find out all by yourself. Have fun! ![]()
Overall though, I'm fairly positive about this. Looking forward to 7 more gyms, starting with numero dos right about... now. See ya!

I'm sure there will be a lot of people that disagree with this opinion of mine, but Game Freak has never been one to have good character progression or realistic scenerios in their games. By realistic scenerios, I mean basic human-like interaction in the form that, "not everyone will like you." I had worked on Pokemon Pyrite for that very reason. I wanted Pokemon to seem more gritty. I was tired of the games catering to a world where there is no fault or any form of actual conflict.
A great example of this was how they portrayed Team Plasma in B/W. To me, I found it extremely hypocritical of them to use Pokemon to force others not to. They could have gone so much deeper into this concept, such as kidnapping the professor of the games to figure out how to disable Pokeballs from working, or being able to stop production of Pokeballs all together. It just seemed very rushed and not much thought put into it.
I want to feel like the villian of the story is actually menecing, in the sense that I should have a reason for stopping them, to have a reason to go after them.
I really hope this new team has that idea in mind, and is not another blubbering "blasting off again" counterpart.

I'm confused, Migokelle. How do you have X or Y before the release? Did you go to their event where you could play the game? Are you from IGN? I don't know....
I believe he writes for GameReactor.
