Come on. You've gotta have something more to say than that.

Anyways, looks like maybe I'll finally have an excuse to sit through and play Master Quest then. For some reason, I just never could get into it before, so maybe this'll help. We'll see. That definitely just expanded its target audience, that's for sure.

Likewise. I might just play through Master Quest first to switch it up a bit more. icon_smile.gif

This is awesome. I already own Master Quest, but I've yet to finish it. This is definitely some extra content to look forward to, since they haven't released it dozens of times. Actually, was it only ever released on the GC? I can't recall. But either way, a welcome addition, no doubt. :3

OoT 3DS includes Master Quest.

Called it. icon_blah.gif

Excellent! I honestly didn't expect this. Way to go Nintendo for keeping consistency in the series. Too many remakes ignore previous additions to the original game.

This is not a world-shattering announcement, but it is definitely enough to increase my interest in owning it.

What we call Master Quest was released on the N64DD originally, but only in Japan (as was the N64DD itself). It was called "Ura Zelda," which means "Another Zelda."

The Gamecube special release of OoT gave them an opportunity to include the Ura Zelda content, which probably wasn't terribly difficult to work out, since they already had to construct a way to emulate OoT on the GC. That's how we got to see "Master Quest."

I will enjoy not having to revert to N64 graphics or give up portability to play Master Quest. And even if they don't increase the difficulty of the original game, Master Quest has just enough added difficulty to scratch that itch. The 3DS remake will also give them a chance to work out some of the little quirks and awkwardness that cropped up in Master Quest.

You know, people always say Master Quest was harder, but I actually found it easier. I remember one of the temples (Fire Temple, I think? It's been a while since I played) allowed you to go directly to the end, skipping most of the dungeon. Kind of disappointed there.

But I can't complain about the inclusion of Master Quest. At the very least, I've only played through it once, and a long time ago. I don't know it nearly as well as OoT, and so that's a big plus right there. While I feel OoT's dungeons are the more polished, they're also the more familiar.

The game does look very nice to me. It might just be me, but the palettes look a bit brighter in the 3DS version than in the original.

As far as difficulty goes, I seriously doubt they're changing anything in that regard. But OoT was nice in that it let you skip every heart container if you wanted extra challenge. Most people don't need even more challenge than that, even if it would please the more hardcore of gamers, so I just don't see Nintendo doing something like that.

One thing I'm not looking forward to? 3D Redeads. Those things used to keep me up at night. Now they're going to be freezing me in my own fear, slowly lurching out of the screen toward me. *shiver*

Bahaha, I have to agree...You've no idea how many times I played the Sun Song as a child, trying to stop those things from jumping on my back. It gave me chills just thinking about it. Of course, you can toggle the 3D feature... icon_razz.gif

I'm hoping the inclusion of the microphone will allow us to scream back at the Redeads. That'll show the bastards.

Really? I thought the N64DD was cancelled before it could be made. Hm. Shows how much I know. XD Ah well, my point still stands, on NA shores, we haven't had the game released many-a-times so it'll feel refreshing to have that in there to play. :3

Well, if you wear the Bunny Hood, then you're covered. For some reason Stalchildren find cute little rabbits intimidating.

In any case, I just heard the Master Quest news and was on my way to tell you guys about it. It has "re-sparked" my interest in this, somewhat.

Master Quest largely consists of the majority of the content in each dungeon being skipped, trying to extend play time instead by fiendish puzzles. Fire Temple and Water Temple are clear examples of this.

Nintendo is competing with Sony. Nintendo is no longer the company they were during the 90's. Their primary drive now is money. So Nintendo, you notice Sony has in development a new PSP. They took the DSi (Wasn't the DSi just released not too long ago?) and added some little gadgets. Now they praise it as a "ground breaking" technology advancement. So to further help them launch it, they require a game that will use the 3DS's functions. They look back to the N64, because that's all the 3DS's engine can hold...unlike Sony's PSP ability to carry on PS quality games. They use OoT. Slap some new textures, a new UI, and call it remastered. I have gone through many images of the new OoT, and I still see sharp, simple polygon objects. Nintendo has the capacity to go beyond this. They are just using a marketing technique to target the gullible. Even with master quest, you still have the basic game. I'll just go ahead and stick with the cell shaded mod of OoT and port it on Project64.

Yeah that's sort of the reason behind the whole 'we make stuff and sell it'-idea. Regards if it's Nintendo or Sony or some dude on ebay.
Anyways, I agree with you. I still think that OoT3DS is a neat thing, but I would've liked some of the 2D titles remade in 3D better, though. And not in top-down 3D ("2,5D") but in third person 3D.

I second this entire post. I, too, will be sticking with the original OoT. Because, as far as I see, this game is one giant waste of money. Heck, I'd even say that all these "New" DS's are just wastes of money, let alone the games that come with them.
