Pretty much yeah, unless you have a flashcard like I do. But I tried it out, and it freezes at a certain spot just out of Cherrygrove City. It really depends on what card you own. But yeah, I'm just gonna wait until I get my copy in 5 days.
Haha. Same here actually, but I was able to restart and everything was ok and fine. I'm gonna test this a bit more and see if there's anything in particular that causes it to freeze, and if I can't find a solution... it's awesome incentive to save often! Haha!

Wellthe copy I'm getting is MINE....I don't have to worry about others wanting to play it, cause they're not gonna!
I wish i can say the same thing but my little sister loves pokemon ever since she played platinum and she's looking forward for heartgold also so i guess i have to share with her =/ I am using her DS after all
Actually, Lemon, concerning owning a ROM it's a legal grey zone. Creating one, unfortunately, is almost certainly illegal. You have the RIAA/MPAA to thank for the former and the DMCA to thank for the latter. All this applies if you own the game. If you don't, then it's illegal regardless.
Now, the question I have for Christian is: what are you going to do when culture itself is a walled garden of DRM, providing inspiration only to those who can meet specific income requirements? Should the amount of money you have dictate your access to inspiration? What about when the line of Da Vincis, Mozarts, Turings, and Miyamotos begin to dwindle? Are you willing to contribute to a system that delays the release of 90% of worthwhile ideas for over a century? What if one day we NEED the mind of a indigent to show us the next step?
Yep....Further stratifying the economic classes is JUST what we need.

It doesn't matter. Stealing is stealing even if its on the internet. If you don't own the cartridge ( since it hasn't even released yet ) and you download it, you are stealing it. So what if Pokemon is a ridiculous successful franchise.. that doesn't justify that piracy is right. I guess, i just like my favorite games to sell millions of copies.I think Pokemon deserves each and every sale equal to the amount on how many teenagers on the internet download the ROM copy. Also, i don't want the thread to go off topic with the downloading issues. I know all of us bought the game already, but there are some people in the world who are D**** and not buy the game at all.

I wish I could take you to the debate room on this, but as I'm not allowed in there (*sigh*) I would like to bring up an interesting point one of my friends makes (and also please note that I"m not disagreeing with anything you've said and this is certainly not the case with Pokemon but for your consideration-);
What if a person pirates something that they otherwise would not have bought? Piracy is not stealing; it's making a copy, and if the option to obtain this thing free were not presented, this person would never have obtained it, thus there was never any profit to make.
Just a fun idea to chew on.
Also, how do you share a Pokemon game? They only allow one save per cartridge (which still makes me sad). That must be incredibly frustrating.

And Christian? Evidently you're not familiar with our legal system. It takes money to sue, and money to sustain said suite. The amount varies exponentially to the resources of the entity being sued, and since this is Walmart, I might as well be suing God.
I'm not entirely sure about that. Sometimes things have a way of getting settled out of court since it would save the big corporation money anywho....

If those police weren't so busy admiring their growlithes maybe they'd have time to look out of perps.

Aside from that, I'll probably play it up to the 4th gym- then the difficulty just spikes too much for my patience. It takes too long to train- too long for someone with a life anyway.

This is my lack of knowledge of Pokémon games past the original G/S, but there's still only one save slot per game? You'd think they'd give the option for at least two save slots by now...
Ya know what? It's all probably money-making. Got three kids in the house that each wanna play Pokémon? Oh well; guess you'd better buy three Game Boys/GBAs/DSs and three copies of the game if they want to each have their own copy. May sound like a large investment, but guess what? Your kids can trade Pokémon from game to game! Ain't that exciting?!
... But back when I was part of the Pokémon craze, even when I was effectively an only child, I got all of the versions (R/B/Y/G/S) anyway.
Which means, if my sis wants to play any of the G/S remakes... Well, I was planning on finding work with my dad so I could afford SoulSilver, but what the heck? I'll be charitable and buy both versions.
Hm. You know how your Rival in G/S is being tracked down by a police officer for stealing a pokemon from Elm? Is there ever any development on that? Or does the police force just really suck at gnabbing their man, even though there's only like, 3 red-heads in pokemon that look unique.

lmao on this one. It's funny, too, because he's always out in the open and shows up at important places like Olivine's gym and (at one point) the Indigo Plateau entrance. Maybe police have to use Pokémon to catch perps with, and if they lose, they're forced to let the criminal go, I dunno.

There's a difficulty spike in Pokemon? If you keep your team to like, four or so, (though six is fine too) and don't run away from battles you should be fine.
Really unless you're training a bunch of guys the game gives you a plentiful vast amount of exp.

You could always buy one version and then find a Rom of the same game (assuming you have a sd-card readers, which if you don't, you can get them hella cheap online. Roughly the cost of buying the game itself actually). If you put 3 identical copies of the rom on the card with different file names, then you'd be able to essentially have three save slots.
The graphic really are quite beautiful in this. They really perfected the art from D/P. Slowpoke well is just, WOW. Every area is unique and really nice to look at. Kudos to the graphic team.

EDIT: Oh, and I suppose you could argue that the first gym (Brock) in R/B/Y was a b*tch too. But since this really only applies if you choose Charmander, I prefer to think of it as a built-in difficulty setting.

Then there was Chuck in Cianwood. His first few Pokémon are easy if you have a strong Flying-type or Psychic-type, but that Poliwhirl got on my freakin' nerves. I had to seriously level up Weepinbell (didn't have an Electric-type) in order to stand a remote chance. Weepinbell fainted, but I finished it off with the next Pokémon.
On a side note, not that it's going to stop any of us, but I seem to remember reading about ROMs once in an old Nintendo Power magazine that said that owning ROMs was illegal no matter what. Of course, laws can change, but I just researched the topic and came across this:
There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.
So yeah, it's not legal just because you own the copy. But again, not that it's going to stop anybody.

Good point, but there aren't any ROMs for the Pokéwalker, as far as I know.

That's why I said you should buy the original game still. ("You could always buy one version and then find a Rom")
Also I'm fairly certain it's not legal or illegal and it just falls into some weird grey area that no one dare define besides the occasional lawyer who has to. I can't take Nintendo seriously because of course their going to be anti-piracy.
