I believe Papenbrook isn't with Funimation and is freelance, and I want to say he's relatively new? I can't say for sure. He did Red in Origins (you knew that), Kirito in Sword Art Online, and some other anime lead I think but I don't know who, but that's all I know of that he did. Repetition's not a problem with him yet, I think. Honestly I think he can improve, I would just prefer someone, ya know, taught him how to act, and they kept him in minor roles until he improved. I like to describe him as a poor man's Yuri Lowenthal.

Just so you know, Bryce is succeeding Travis Willingham as Theo in Persona Q for 3DS. And if you know how low-pitched Travis Willingham's voice is, then it would be interesting to hear Bryce do a low-pitched voice. I have never heard him low pitched before in any game that he had a role in.I believe Papenbrook isn't with Funimation and is freelance, and I want to say he's relatively new? I can't say for sure. Well I don't follow Persona, so it has no effect on me, though I do admit some interest in seeing if he sounds any better if he uses a lower-pitched voice. Eren, Kirito, and Red all had a similar pitch, so something different might benefit him.

Just finished Mirai Nikki. I enjoyed it all the way through, but I feel like the story kinda fell apart at the end. Also I feel like it went a little overboard with the shock value stuff at times. Also it basically lifted a character straight out of Neon Genesis Evangelion. So yeah, it had its share of problems but I liked it overall.

I watched the 3rd Episode of Attack on Titan. I'm not going to rush on this anime because I don't want to go into hiatus between Part 1 and Part 2 on Blu Ray. This was my favorite part of Episode 3...

You say this now. But then the cliffhangers will start.I'm not going to rush on this anime because I don't want to go into hiatus between Part 1 and Part 2 on Blu Ray.
And also yes, Sasha is an amazing character. My second favorite in the series after Connie.

Finally finished Samurai Champloo, overall I thought it was an enjoyable series, if not disconnected, which invites a more casual viewing pace; I never really felt compelled to finish it. I feel like it went on just a tad too long, though it had some great episodes, fun action, and funny humor. And heck, when the story started to come together, it was quite enjoyable. The dub was also really solid as well, which was a good experience.
Eventually down the line I want to check out Space Dandy, even though I'm aware it's more of an outright comedy show. However in the near future I'm looking at Black Lagoon and Fate/Zero, not sure which to start with.
Oh, and apparently the Kill la Kill German dub is less than spectacular, if this preview clip means anything. Satsuki is an old lady and Gamagoori isn't a loud angry German... disappointing. ![]()

So... for the last two weeks I've been binge-watching Hunter x Hunter. In the end, it was a really good series (fantastic at points, even).
The show starts out with the premise that the main character, Gon, leaves his home island to train to become a hunter. Hunters in the series are people who take on odd jobs of tracking down people, killing people in some cases, explore unknown territories, and things like that. Gon decides to do this to try to follow in his father's footsteps, who left him to continue to be a hunter.
Intially the show is a pretty normal "shounen" series (think Dragonball, One Piece, Naruto, etc.) It's pretty much Gon taking the test to become a hunter. There's a lot of training and things like that during the first... I dunno... 30-35 episodes? Not that this stuff is bad. It's enjoyable in its own right, but there's not much of really anything brand new or amazing during this portion. It's the arcs following that where the genius of the series really starts to unfold and unravel.
There's a few things that really start to separate HxH from a lot of its peers. The first of which would be the characters. Again, they mostly start out generic, but as the series progresses, you really see some amazing character development out of them. Some seem to slowly drift toward the good side while others start to drift toward evil. Plus, even the villains get a good amount of screen time, which oftentimes either show them growing or at least portray their side of things. The show is really good about portraying that there's no one that's really "pure evil." Even the most evil people have a bit of good in them, and even the most saintly people will end up doing some pretty sinister things for the greater good. Also, for the exception of maybe one trio of villains, all of them have really good characterization or motives.
Another thing that sets HxH apart is its use of strategy in later arcs. This isn't like DBZ or One Piece, where fights pretty much boil down to brute force and unveiling secret moves. It's about planning both before and during fights. It's about people having a set amount of skills and thinking about how to use them in a way to accomplish their goals. Gon is strong, but he's not infinitely strong. Not only are a lot of the villains more powerful than him, he's not really even the most powerful of his own party. It's because of this that they have to resort to strategy, and I really enjoyed that.
Not to say that the series is perfect. It's certainly not. As with many shounen series, it starts out slow. Even when the series gets really good, there are still a few parts that drag on a bit as well.
So, if you're wanting a longer series to invest time into, HxH is definitely a solid choice in my eyes. The only problem is that currently it's on hiatus as the author hasn't written any new chapters since around 2012. Supposedly he's gearing to start up soon, but apparently that's been the status for a while.
So you definitely want to keep that in mind when you start up the series.

This is the second anime I watched with Papenbrook. I'm not getting that repetition of his voice yet though that can change very quickly. At least Monica Rial or Colleen Clickenbeard are not voicing this anime. Those two voices I'm getting too much repitition from.
You know who's the king of repitition? Johnny Young Bosch.
Like, I know he's good, but Goddamn! HE CANT DO ANY OTHER VOICE.

Tell me about it. Especially when he appears in almost all of my RPGs.

I'll be watching The Big O again. It's rather underrated IMO. It's also short: 26 episodes!

I haven't really been watching too much anime, I've simply been playing random Square RPGs.
