As for the maps, I'm going to be perfectly honest that the map of Town Island kinda loses that "tropical island" feel when remade with DoR. It now has a more "foresty" feel. Maybe a change in the palette might fix this. Then again, those trees don't really fit that "tropical" theme at all IMO.

Looking for some input on this palette, I'm not sure whether or not it needs any changing.
i know i am about 2½ weeks late, but this page is the first one i opened when i came here, and something just didn't feel right.

Here are my thoughts: it's too similar. WAY too similar. It's a tile for tile remake. That's just not very interesting. Change it up a bit. Compare Zelda 1 to DFW's Origin. See how the ocerworld is still the same, but each individual screen looks almost brand new, despite being more or less the same layout? Do something like that. It'll make the quest so much more interesting.
It's true. may be interesting to some, but also lost a lot of time doing tile by tile

Anyhow here's a couple shots. You can thank Nitroid and raocow for this, as the music I listened to brought this out, and I found that music through a raocow LP of Nitroid.
I've got almost half a map of complete snowiness, this is just two of the shots.


I'm aware second shot could use more tiles. I guess just posting the main construct.

I completely agree with Russ. A remake doesn't always mean tile for tile. I say go ahead and use extra screens and so on.
I see what you guys mean. I think I'll use ALttP mountains and add some curves to the mountains. I may also add some effects and change the dirt water borders to shorelines.
