I approve of my return. I honestly thought the Gen 1 Trainer was going to be replaced by Gen 2 Trainer. But Charizard by himself? Hell yeah! To be honest though, this is my first time seeing Greninja because I haven't heard/seen/played much of the new Pokémon games (i havent played anything past gen 1 hi), but hey, newcomers are always good. All these new additions are wonderful.

I hope they make Bowser playable in this game. And when I say playable, I mean, being able to use him effectively...
In Melee, he's no better than the Home Run Bag... In Brawl, he's a little more useful, but he's so clunky...
The trailer that I saw him in, I noticed he seemed a lot faster, but it was hard to compare it via the trailer alone.
I just hope Nintendo will be awesome and have an eShop demo of the game before it comes out.

I think that we shouldn't count out "clone characters" - after all, we do have Luigi and Toon Link. Mainly Luigi.
Thinking about it from another angle, having characters with similar specials might make it more worthwhile to have customizable specials. If Mario and Luigi, Ness and Lucas, Fox and Falco and other pairs can use the same modifications to their specials, then we get more mileage out of them. This could be the reasoning behind Kirby's new hammer attack, which looks pretty similar in function to Dedede's. It could be that Sakurai's intentionally withholding most clone/semi-clones to demonstrate the customization system at a later date. Yeah, I'm speculating a lot, but the move customization has me intrigued ...

Also, I don't remember where, but I saw Donkey Kong do a roll attack, like he does in the DKC series. It's probably a running A attack, and I'm very happy about that.
Near the end of the direct when they are showing all the characters.
Glad they gave it to him as it only makes sense. His old dash attack was useless.
Also it's good in Project M where he has it as well

Is Nintendo seriously using stuff from Other M?!??
That's insane.
Fixed and I agree, that's pretty stupid.
*runs*
Though it kind of is a little head-scratching why Nintendo would draw most Metroid inspiration from that game when clearly it has a lot of fandom backlash. And that's a bit of an understatement... Ah well, Zero Suit Samus isn't based off Other M and looks amazing, so there's that.

Wait, aren't the only things from Other M like... her suit design and the stage (neither of which look bad)? Am I just not in on the joke? ![]()
Also, if you think that having DK with a rolling attack meaning that they're using stuff from Project M directly without coincidence... Please play Donkey Kong Country. <_< DK having a rolling attack has been in several games since then.

The only thing I stated is that it was in Project M as well and it worked well there, so it could work well here. To claim Nintendo is copying a fan game or mod is ridiculous.

I was actually more responding to Strike about that.

Oh, my bad. Still nice either way.
I am curious as to just how much customization can be done with the move customization, and if it only applies to special moves.

There was a trophy of a boss enemy shown in the Direct too, one of the shittier bosses. Oh wait, that's not very specific.
And the stage looks fine, but I'm honestly just not too fond of the suit's design. It seems... too sleek, I guess? It doesn't seem as distinctive as her usual design is all.

I wanna buy that Little Mac's air disadvantage will be the tradeoff, especially since I fill a good portion of my fighting with air maneuvers, so it'll be hard to adjust. Maybe it's true, but until we play it for ourselves, we won't know. I'm still excited though because Little Mac.
Roy was terrible in the air in Melee and he didn't get a OHKO move. It's not like it's too difficult to switch to mostly ground moves anyway. Aerial moves I feel are more for racking up damage than for finishing anyway. (Unless you're like Meta Knight)
As Sakurai stated, he said that Lucario getting TOO buffed will be a detriment in the match, making it really hard to get back on the stage. Despite this, I do think they should reward the player for dealing more damage, rather than rewarding the player for taking damage, ala how Project M does things, and while yes, it probably isn't fair to compare it to a fan project, I'm simply using it as an example.
As for Greninja, think about it. In Pokemon X and Y, you're given the choice of a Kalos starter, and a Kanto starter. From what I've seen of the fanbase, people seem to like Froakie and Charmander the most, so it makes complete sense for Greninja to make an appearance, alongside Charizard.
With Lucario: I'm really doubting it. So someone using Extremespeed went in the hole in an example video. If you're going farther than normal with that, it's an improvement, not a disadvantage. Lucario's recovery was probably one of it's weaker qualities in Brawl and now it's even better. You could quite easily just use it and go straight up and land safely if you're worried about going too far.
Greninja: It depends the way you look at it. Blissey and Skarmory are also quite popular among competitive players, but outside of competitive play, I doubt they're too popular. Greninja is the best competitively out of the 3 starter evolutions, so of course it seems the most popular. I do feel once next gen comes out, Greninja will go the way of the other starters and be completely forgotten still. Mewtwo would've been a much better choice, especially since it got 2 Mega Evolutions, we've been screaming for it to return since Brawl left him out and will likely stay popular among Pokemon.

Actually, I've been thinking about this and the fact that almost none of the so-called clone characters have been shown so far. With move customization in, it seems like it'd be easy to have such characters be costume swaps, with move options that match their specials. For example, have Lucas be a costume alt of Ness (with the same physical attacks) but have PK Freeze and his version of Fire, Thunder and Magnet as move customization options. Something similar could be done with Fox and Falco. Naturally, I'd prefer that all characters return with their full arsenals intact, but it does seem a little odd having moves customizable and then have characters with such similar specials.
Toon Link.

It could be a way to re-introduce characters like Dr. Mario or Pichu without using a roster slot on them.
Toon Link is different enough to be his own character, often even being considered better than Link in brawl anyways.

So, I've had this question on my mind. Who did you guys "main" (Play as most/were best with) in each Super Smash Bros game?
For me,
SSB 64: Link, Pikachu
SSB Melee: Link, Pikachu
SSB Brawl: Pikachu, Lucas, Toon Link, partially Yoshi and Zelda
For 3DS/Wii U, I think I'm going to just focus on Pikachu, Link (Hopefully he's much better this game than he was in Brawl), and Greninja. I may pick up Zelda again, as I loved her a lot in Melee and Brawl. It's better for me as well, since I never liked Sheik much. Although, now I can play her separately if I like! If Lucas is back in, definitely him too (Although, I have a strong feeling he won't be). Greninja looks like a character I would love to play as, I'm excited for him. I also want to give Rosalina a try, since I like playing as Peach. I've also used Mario in every game, so he'll be in there somewhere. Can't forget Yoshi or Toon Link either.
Summer can't come soon enough. How about you guys?
Edit- Oh! I forgot Villager! Funny how I forgot, as I have my 3DS on my lap right now, playing New Leaf. ![]()
