Loving the "ruined" vibe I'm getting from this screen, and what's that familiar symbol I see on the rock right there? icon_wink.gif

As for overall screen design, I feel like you should give the grass a bit of a more "reddish" color so it makes more sense, as grass that close to lava would probably wilt very quickly.

I look forward to the completion of this quest as always, good luck and have fun making it. icon_smile.gif

@/M/: I like all of the screens, except for the lava one. First off, why is everything else in the screen in a greyscale like palette, yet the lava is bright as ever? It really does not look good; as if they are from two entirely different palettes.

Other than that, why are you using both BS, and Minish Cap mountain tiles? They both style clash pretty bad...and that's not something I'd want to see too much in a quest, or things might get a little out of wack all over the place.

/M/, those screens are straight up perfect. And I don't say that very often. I seriously didn't believe that was ZC when I first saw it.

Shane, that shot has a serious early SNES rpg vibe to it. Me gusta.

Look great, /M/! Really dark and all. Anyways, I sincierly suggest using tMC waterfalls on the volcano screen. It all looks quite lovely indeed. I especially like the orange -> purple gradient in the last shot.

Thanks, Shiek. I'll look into the tMC waterfall and see how it turns out. icon_smile.gif As for the screen you posted, the lava looks very nice but the fact that there's grass completely surrounding it.. Is a bit awkward. Its Unique though. icon_razz.gif

I like this, it also reminds me of early SNES RPGs. Good job so far, Shane.

I apperciate it, Fausch. I just hope I can manage to blend everything perfectly when I map everything out and make it equally as nice.

Well, I guess that's why.

More points for realism I suppose, although I feel a couple clouds or smoke of some sort would bring the screen together. icon_smile.gif

Looking for some input on this palette, I'm not sure whether or not it needs any changing.

That palette looks horrible, actually. If that's supposed to be a beehive, it needs a lot less green and a lot more yellow.

Aren't those the tiles from Super Mario Land 2? It's kind of odd seeing sidescrolling tiles used for a top-down area.

Why are the vertical borders/treetops flipped vertically?

I felt like the yellow was too bright, thats why I tried a yellow-green instead. So how can I add more yellow, but make it not as bright?

Why would I use 2D tiles in a Z1 perspective? Of course it's in 2D, the player is just jumping.

Because the only set that came with these tiles only came with 1 side, 1 corner, and 1 inside corner. Nothing I can do about it.

Try orange instead of green? Otherwise I like.

That's actually a super easy edit. You don't even have to know the first thing about pixel art to do it. You pretty much just need to know how to use the pencil tool in MS Paint :l If you are going all the way to rip the tiles, why not take the extra minute and edit them to make them look properly?

You mean the extra hour? Cause that's how long it took. icon_sweat.gif

Still don't know what to do with the palette though. I mean I tried changing the yellow-green color to more of an orange, but it doesn't really look any different (if anything, worse). I think the oranges for the border need a slightly lighter color, but the rest of the area seems way too bright already. ugh

I'd say probably a mix of oranges and 'creamy' colors would work pretty good for that one.

I've been experimenting with the Roc's Woods abit.

Does the palette + overhang look okay to everyone?

Transparency in GB never was never will be a good idea. The palette is nice, though.
