I really have no idea what is going on, on the screen. Everything just blends into each other, I don't think the poor image quality is helping. I'm guessing that to the left is forest brush and those are mountain tiles on the top right. But I don't think greyscale would work because everything is so detailed and everything has a gradient or pattern on it.

It looks like it could be very, very promising but it's just so hard to tell at the moment.

Thanks, you gave me the response I was looking for (And Shiek as well). The main reason I wanted to go greyscale is because of the fact that I could easily grab tiles that really don't match perspective wise but because of the colors blending everything in, it isn't as noticeable. For instance, those mountain tile wouldn't work in full color. But of course, having everything blend in didn't work in this case.

You would be probably save with tMC mountains, looking at the other tiles. Yeah, they've grown a little old, but they work for what it's worth.

Yeah, it actually doesn't look too bad with tMC mountain tiles but the issue is with those tiles is that you can't make complex mountain formations with them. Its too boxy. But they'll do for now.

BS mountains are very versitale then. And they don't take up a lot of space because they were designed for the NES screen resolution.

Green Hyrule Palette in Classic, + Some screens from my quest. icon_smile.gif

those screens are (mostly) well designed and look very good. I like the green, but I'm not too fond of the brown used in the mountains.

I wanted to give greyscale just 1 last try and adjusted the palette a bit. I figured it'd be fair to use the same screen I originally showed in color for in greyscale as well:

I like both palettes, and they both give off very deep feelings of emotion.

The greyscale one gives off a feeling of stillness, a time in which does not move. As if the world has stopped, and everything has stopped moving around.

The other one, however gives off a feeling of life, adventure and hope. A feeling of new things to come, surprises and times of suffering.

Either way, both palettes are very well made, and will surely make this very pleasing to play, and look at. icon_smile.gif

As for the screen itself, it's a solid screen, but not much else I can say. I like the graphics, though. icon_smile.gif

I honestly love both. I agree with what Dragonite said as well. I personally like the GB Color one more, though. Your new player tile (Link?) looks great as well!

Thank you both and I do agree, they each give a different vibe to it. I can't make my mind up just yet, so I'm going to wait to see what other kind of responses I get before drawing a conclusion.

Well doing something innovative is always a plus, so I say go with the grayscale. But the coloured one does look beautiful.

Both palettes are pretty impressive, I keep thinking they'd work together if a quest were one through time or involving the freezing of time. Well done !

I'm going to experiment a bit more with both looks to see what exactly suits what I am aiming for. The color version seems like something I'd like to make a public tileset release for (after heavy modifications and additions), while the greyscale is a early concept of something that can turn out pretty resourceful for a quest project.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
