So question, are you watching the sub or the dub? The dub actually censored that one (and with good reason). They actually dubbed the whole episode, but then aired a censored one instead.

Now I'm curious as to whether you watched the edited or uncensored version... The edited version of the show is pretty much just skippable recap. The uncensored, your mileage may vary. I thought it was funny in places, and felt there was an important moment with Gimmy regarding character development. Either way you can pretty much skip the episode without consequence, but personally I include it in my viewings.

Also Russ is wrong, the episode was censored in Japan first before it even reached us. That's not exclusive to the English dub.

Speaking of Gurren Lagann, I can clearly see it got quite a bit of inspiration from Diebuster, which I just finished. My impressions from the first episode were right in that this show follows completely different rules than Gunbuster. Gunbuster was grounded in realism, sort of, though I can't remember whether it was actually realistic based on the known science at the time or if it took tons of liberties. Maybe both. But Diebuster was a bit more out there with weird powers and other beyond the impossible stuff that made its way into Gurren Lagann. They're both enjoyable in their own ways, though I have a hard time believing the two shows are in the same universe. I think I liked Gunbuster a bit more, it had a more classic feel, but Diebuster certainly had its moments and definitely did some things better.

Oh, it's worth mentioning, there's a simple reason the two shows are so different: Hideaki Anno, the man behind Evangelion, was in charge of Gunbuster, while Diebuster was done by the writer and director of FLCL. I'm not sure if Anno had any hand in the show at all, but at least there's a good reason both shows are so different from each other.

So if you watch these two, it's best to separate them in your mind, even though they're the same universe. It might make your viewing enjoyment better. But same warning as earlier, regarding the fanservice, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Meanwhile, I have nothing to watch. I'll find something though I'm sure.

I'm watching a Subbed version of the show, I don't know if it was a uncensored version or a censored version. I mean everything was covered up in some way or another.

Like with Kamina he had his junk covered with Boota and Simon had Drill Key (Which got huge for no reason <_<) covered up his junk. So they did have some sort of censor kinda?

Let's just say... there was a chunk of the episode missing... and there was a lack of cover for a certain character. Like, it was funny, and had character development, but at the same time... I dunno, that whole episode really toed the line a bit too much for my taste.

Also just as an aside, I'd recommend you at least take a look at the dub at some point. It's incredibly well done; I honestly think most of the English actors sound better than their Japanese counterparts.

Agreeing with the dub assessment, it's one of the best dubs out there in my opinion, the entire cast is basically perfect. ... except Nia, she's better in Japanese and just kind of annoying in the dub.

Spoiler

But she doesn't detract from the overall quality of the dub.

I decided to go with Log Horizon, then go to FLCL. 3 episodes in so far, and I'm really enjoying Log Horizon. Not too much I can say about so far, but it's got me interested. X3

So hey, I've decided to watch this show called Date a Live.

Honestly, I thought the show would be shit like all the other harem shows I've been seeing, but This one actually stands out as a legit good harem.

And I haven't found a good Harem since Shuffle, Tenchi Muyo, and The World God Only Knows, so this is a pleasantry.

Strange thing is that I started with Date A Live II, and the show's been really really good, and the MC isn't a total puss.

WHOOOOOOOOOO

Started two more shows, one my friend wanted to see, and one I wanted to see: Mushi-Shi and Samurai Champloo, respectively. Only two episodes into the first, waiting on my friend to see the third, which according to her is the "make or break" point, as I think it's kind of creeping her out. I find it interesting and will probably stick with it regardless. Champloo, I'm trying out a new strategy of mine, to watch the first episode in both English and Japanese to see which one's worth sticking with more.

... they're both great. Help.

At first I was thinking sub because samurai stuff, would be a little more authentic-sounding.

Then I remembered the opening words of the show.

This work of fiction is not an accurate historical portrayal.

Like we care.
Now shut up and enjoy the show!

DUB IT IS.

Well, now that I am pretty much finished watching Bleach, (not completely finished, I still have a few episodes left on Adult Swim) I decided to watch Attack on Titan on the shear amount of praise it has gotten. That, and recommended by many people here.

So far I watched two episodes, and I have to say, the art style is beautiful. The build up is pretty impacting as well. I can't wait to see what the next few episodes have in store. ;)

TONS OF RECAP.

Oh, uh... slowly but surely watching Champloo. And by that I mean I've only made it through episode six. Meh I'll make progress. Also I think I've given up on Mushi-Shi. I dunno. My friend definitely has and I might keep trying until giving up. There's some interesting stuff in it but the lack of a central, unified plot is making it hard and slow to watch, especially for a twenty-six episode series. If it was shorter, like half that, I wouldn't mind so much, but I dunno if I can make it through this, and if I can, I'll probably not bother with the second season if it's more of the same.

Also, I think I'm gonna watch Black Bullet soon as well (assuming I can actually make Champloo progress), I kinda felt like watching another recent anime and I've heard good things about it, and it's also short (and almost done airing), so I can take a crack at that I suppose. Now if I can tear myself away from old LPs and current speedruns I can make a dent. :heh:

I actually have a couple things I've been meaning to post here.

First, I finally finished Baccano.  In the end, it was a really good series.  It definitely had an interesting, unique story that was told in a very unique way for anime.  The characters were pretty interesting, and the way everything wrapped up was really impressive.  The fact that everything was so confusing at first because it was all told out of order, but then somehow managed to tie everything up was really cool.

But, I do have one big complaint about the series.  It's a 16 episode series according to everything that I've seen, but the main plot actually ends on episode 13.  The rest of the 3 are like OVAs.  They are tied to the plot, and I definitely do recommend that people watch them as they tie up lots of lose ends, but it can make for a very climactic ending if you got into episode 13 expecting the main story to continue for 4 more episodes.  So, I got kinda bummed when things ended so abruptly.  It made it sort of feel a bit rushed, in a sense.  So, I just offer that as a heads up to people who want to watch the series in the future.

Still, I do think it was an amazing anime, and one of the bests I've seen recently.

Secondly, I finally watched the final Madoka Movie, Rebellion.  Now... this movie. :P Apparently lots of people don't like the ending, but I think that's because there's some stuff that is sort of left up for interpretation.  There's a few details that I think people may miss that really helps make the ending of the movie make sense.  So, I think the movie was absolutely fantastic, and it was a very fitting ending to the series.  Well, that is, if the sequel series doesn't continue from where this left off.  Which may be possible?  Depending on what they do, it could be really cool.

For those of you all who have seen the Madoka movie...
