Yes, and I definitely would love to play with you guys, somewhen, somehow. Saturday afternoons are still nice and open for me, and likely always will be.

Ten+ different types of wings. That's bloody amazing.

Hey, I'm totally down with this.

We just need a server...

The last two times I used my Hamachi server. Mine is paid for, so it has a 32 person capacity.

... and thank you again. :D

Perhaps a little bit of pre-planning this time around. I dunno... something so that we can get a good idea of what sort of thing everyone is looking to do.

Last time around, I dug myself a rather large underground home, filled it with electricity, (making all the necessary spaces beforehand before the Mechanic was available.) and had my own hellevator, as did everyone else, of course. So underground spaces are easy to find, surely. How about everyone else? High spaces? Flat spaces?

Also, to consider, although we are by default (I assume..?) replanting all trees that we dig up for wood, should we be obliterating an entire biome for a material, like sand to turn into glass? Or should we just import it from other worlds? It would be nice if we didn't go total entrepreneur world-wrecker with this. :P Who will think of the vultures??

.. and of course, I suppose it should be at least a week or two after the update's release, so we all have a chance to toy around with it. Would be nice. That will help with the pre-planning. Don't want any unpleasant surprises and lack of full planning on our part due to not knowing what to expect.

How about both? I'm an avid fan of both ideas. I could vastly enjoy the company of others when I tour both Sub-con and Planet Zebes.

Sand isn't very easy to reproduce is it? I presume we could either import it as players, *or* a facility could be built to house certain materials in a pinch. On that note, are we allowing use of the treasure chest glitch (assuming it isn't fixed)? It's quick money, but technically cheating and quite laggy. Wouldn't hurt anybody if they brought their money from their own worlds, though...

Bonne idée. On that note, Ventrillo/teamspeak/etc or no? Revive Mumble? Terraria has a chat feature, but it may be a bit of trouble to figure out, and can be cumbersome when you're suddenly attacked.

Oh, Speaking of Planet Zebes...

I possess a recreation of much of Zebes from Super Metroid. (Not included:Maridia, Tourian, Wrecked ship.) If you wanna do this, I could send a file of it over to whoever will be in charge (I'm assuming Nathaniel at this point) to incorporate into a map for us. If you're interested.

The problem with doing that is that the world wouldn't have any of the new ores and other new stuff that will come with generating a world with this update.

Yes, it will definitely be a new map. Most likely a "Large" map, so that we can take advantage of all of the new Biomes and as much ore and terrain as possible. Even a Medium map is fine. Small maps are big enough to support four people, really, amazingly enough, but I wouldn't go so far.

In terms of a community chest, I'm sure that during the mid to late game, there will be a fairly decently large area filled with barrels and chests full of stuff that people can use freely and contribute toward. That would be lovely. It's bound to happen anyway. There are just some things that people don't need that much of that they tend to collect tons of anyway.

Because you should really only have a single homespace... Anything more would likely be selfish. Any non-home constructions should likely be more collaborative than not, in the spirit of fairness and space consumption.

Doesn't need to. I'm suggesting the use of Tedit to simply copypaste it.

Me??? I'm talking about letting people build wherever they want. He wants a house in the sky. She wants a house underground. Shi wants a house with a basement and three floors. No point in making everyone put their house underground.

Large Worlds are perfect. They are so expansive and resources are plentiful.

I wouldn't play Single Player first on update, I usually dive head first into things and see what happens. Besides, I doubt the wiki won't show everything until at least a week after release.

Perhaps what I meant is preventing a person from staking a claim before anyone else gets to have a say in it. The optimal thing is for a person to set up camp in a single area, and set up a "border" of their potential homespace. It doesn't rob a person of a prospective desired house position that way.

It also must be agreed upon where the game's NPCs will stay. While it's nice to have them all in one place, they will need some sort of crude housing initially just so they can exist to serve the needs of the players until proper NPC housing can be set up the way everyone would like to see them. Something like what Sephiroth did on the server's last iteration. We must also remember that, according to the Terraria forums, monsters don't spawn nearly as often around NPC-heavy areas.

My replies in bold.

Last time around, I dug myself a rather large underground home, filled it with electricity, (making all the necessary spaces beforehand before the Mechanic was available.) and had my own hellevator, as did everyone else, of course. I am open to either. Sounds like an interesting idea you have there.

I'm not a huge fan of obliterating biomes. However, we can find ways around it in order to get what we want. For example, taking most of the sand from those underground sand circles (they are shaped like circles if you ever look at the world map). For above ground sand, I suppose taking some off of the top is okay, as long as you don't leave it looking like you have destroyed the biome. I prefer preserving natural landscape as much as possible, with maybe some very minor adjustments for smoothing out for the sake of easier travel. Not perfectly man-made flat. Just smoother to the point of being able to run without stopping too much. Thus, no bomb/dynamite spree on the surface.

.. and of course, I suppose it should be at least a week or two after the update's release, so we all have a chance to toy around with it. Would be nice. That will help with the pre-planning. Don't want any unpleasant surprises and lack of full planning on our part due to not knowing what to expect.

Yes.

Definitely a large map. While some resources are abundant on any size map, there are still some that are scarce on smaller maps, plus there might still be that bug on medium sized maps in multiplayer where the solid stuff on the eastern edge of the map doesn't show up. Plus I would like to get the most out of the new biomes, which can be done on large. I might choose medium for single player when I play around with things, though. I'm past using small maps in general at this point. On small maps, there is a slight chance that the world doesn't have a lucky horseshoe or a murmasa. That could also be a possible issue with some new items.

Agreed here. I do like the idea of shared homes, but to make everybody happy, there can be two large homes: One in the sky, and one underground. People can choose which one to be a part of. Each can have common areas and some of the NPCs, and private suites for each individual to do whatever they want with them. The two homes can also be connected, assuming they are directly above or below each other, but not necessarily touching each other (the sky one could be well above the underground one, but making travel between them fairly simple. I'd be happy in either myself, so I will likely choose the one that fewer people choose, to try to keep closer to a balance. It wouldn't be done immediately, since it will take some time before we can collect all the right resources for them. So early on, we will have at least one temporary home.

What do we think of that idea? If most of you don't like it, we don't have to do that, of course. I'm happy enough having this opportunity to experience this together.

The optimal thing is for a person to set up camp in a single area, and set up a "border" of their potential homespace. It doesn't rob a person of a prospective desired house position that way.

Hopefully we can all act like reasonable mature adults who know how to have a good time.

One place or two places not too far from each other when the better looking homes are set up. Before them, just not too far away from each other in general. We wouldn't want them scattered any more than that.

Sand can be reproduced - Use a Sandgun and Necro Armour (or any other armour that grants a chance not to use ammo per shot) and bam! You can generate infinite sand. The only trouble is getting the materials for it - Illegal Gun parts costs 75 Gold each and Antlion Manibles are difficult to come across in the required quantities. The Topaz required can be gathered easily enough.

Money is no object. Through illegitimacy and cheating, I could easy procure the funds for something like that.

Anyway, since we can't do this right away, I propose we keep talking about it, like we *were* doing this right now. This is too much fun. Besides, by the time the update happens we might forget aboutthis thread.

Edit: Apparently my last post cloned itself... ?? Disintegrate plz?

New trailer!  So talking across terrain (even 1-block high cliffs) is MUCH easier now, since we can just run across it.  That's awesome. Rainbow liquid!
