Heh, good luck beating the gym leaders over there with those level 1s! lol (the gym leaders are, like, in their fifties and things I think, right? ^^' )

I would love to set up a PZC tournament for post-Red battlers... but I can't get on DS wifi at my house because of security settings (I think; I don't actually know specifically why I can't get on). It really, really blows. icon_frown.gif

You're wifi is probably protected by a WPA code. Just change it to a WEP code and you're good to go.

I'm thinking of starting fresh once i arrive to Kanto. Like, i want Kanto to be a challenge for me. So what I'm going to do is, transfer over my platinum team on the mid level 10s or just catch all Generation 1 Pokemon in Kanto and start off from level 1 and train them there..

... Good Luck. The gym leaders will maim you.

I think that Christian's idea has merit, in that Kanto is never much of a challenge if you play the way you're EXPECTED too. So, I think a nice remedy to that oversight would indeed be to start over, only with Pokemon caught exclusively in Kanto (which, if I remember correctly, are stronger than level one).

But aren't Brock's Pokémon in the forties range? O_o

They are? Weak.

I think I read somewhere that the Kanto gym leaders had their levels boosted to add more of a challenge.

In Silver, anyway. Mid-to-high level forty range, at least. Maybe higher, but I didn't pay attention to their levels.

In HG/SS?

Yes, or so I've been told. I know for a fact that Red's 8 levels higher now, and I'm pretty sure the other gym leaders are harder too.

Brock's are in the lower 50s in SS, I think. The psychic (or was it poison?) gym leader in Kanto has some higher forty leveled pokes, though, if I'm not mistaken. icon_razz.gif

But, I hate training high-leveled Pokemon for the use of battling. Like, if I need a rock type for the elite four, it really pains me to go catch one at Victory Road or something just to use it in a single battle. Training things from level 5 or so is more my style; you'd be surprised how much stronger trained pokemon are compared to just-caught pokemon!

It's called Effort Values. icon_razz.gif

Man, I want this to come out so badly. I'm resorting to playing the original Crystal to keep me sane. There is definitely something wrong here.

But WEP has terrible security, plus since it is a home network that my parents use for business and taxes the level of security is highly important. I have tried using the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi connector but had no luck, although I wasn't connecting it to the main computer. I will have to try more with the USB connector over spring break, but Nintendo should have anticipated WPA/WPA-2 connections for the DS. It's stupid for them to develop a system that relies on outdated connections. icon_unsettled.gif

Oh, you don't have to teach me! lol I've been teachin' the youngsters 'round my place for years now! (well, not really years, but year and a half to two years, at least!) IVs, EVs, Natures, Abilities, Stat boostin', Breeding (for IV's/Natures)-- but I'm still getting a grip on the whole thing, myself! I've only dabbled in 3v3 strategy; 6v6 for me is basically two 3v3 teams put together! ^^'

Speaking of IVs, I'm trying to RNG my WonderCard Jirachi to having near-perfect IVs for Speed, HP, and Special Attack, though it's kinda hard... my DS doesn't calibrate with my external clock very well. icon_razz.gif

I have a feeling that the day before the release, Russ will end up in the insane asylum, along with me icon_deformed.gif.

I was kinda "meh" on the whole thing, thinking I'd just get it eventually, but I'm over on Bulbapedia reading up on it and man, is it making me want it badly. icon_eek.gif

I'm still playing the original Silver, though, but the only goal I've got left is to train up and beat Red.

I know, it looks amazing. When it came out, I looked through Serebii's discovery thread, and I was amazing. I can't wait for it.

You're way further than I am in the original. I'm at the first gym, and that's as far as I'm going. Unlike most people, I have no nostalgia factor from playing the old game, so I want to build some up, even it is just four day old nostalgia. icon_razz.gif

And on a side note, the music from that first gym town (Azalea, I think) is really good. It got remixed in FireRed to be even better (one of my favorite songs from the series). They better not have screwed it up for HG/SS.
