Hmm... what if he's on the Pit stage and ends up destroying the ground that he's playing on?

Problam he is invisbale and the screen locks in that place while it happens

I sort of got the impression that the screen itself is unaffected, while it's entirely possible that any screen scrolling that occurs could sweep him right out of the screen.

I think he means Rainbow Cruise in Super Smash Bros. Melee (one of the stages on my course-returning wish list). It's the one with the flying ship in the beginning.

Pitfall from AC i love this item i used to prank my frinds with this all the time

anyway one person bures it then comes along someone else and fall into it qand if it was done on a platfrorm the person fall thought that

I'll be honest, the first idea that came to my mind while the page was loading was that game series with the same name. I remembered how much fun it was to play Pitfall tricks on my sis in Animal Crossing, and now I get to do it all over again in Brawl! Oh, Brawl's going to be one heck of a game.

EDIT: On the side note, I think the superevil smiley animates too fast, but that's a topic for another time.

AWESOME! You can just lay these all over the place on the bottoms of levels, and plunk! Instant KO's!

But, what would happen if there was nothing to fall to? Like, on Mushroom Kingdom. Would they get stuck in the brick?

It looks like Pitfalls only work on platforms, not the main ground surface. So no instant KOs and no getting stuck in the SMB underworld.

Look at the screen again where DK fell in the trap. That was the actual stage there, since Yoshi's stage has only one platform, and that platform was above DK. The actual stage has no end, so he probably got KO'd.

I think if somebody steps on a planted pitfall, they get stuck in the ground (similar to DK's forward+B attack in SSBM),

However,

Incidentally, it also has an effect if you simply hit someone with it instead of setting it in the ground.

If you get hit by a Pitfall, you’ll drop through pass-through floors!

Looks like a fun item. Also looks like a great prankster weapon.

I can't wait to use this on some unsuspecting three year old.
