I died over 100 times in Lv1 of The Liberation of Hyrule, even original AQ not. Sometimes, I felt AQ isn't hard when play it.

Hey James! icon_smile.gif
I downloaded your "liberate quest" from official ZC HP. icon_wink.gif
It has become more difficult than the one which I got from you before. icon_eek.gif
AQ is easy compared to this insanely quest. icon_lol.gif

However, this quest is not only difficult. icon_biggrin.gif
Structure of the dungeon is cleverly, there is a clear concept in every room. icon_slycool.gif
And various music liven up the game play. icon_twisted.gif

by the way,I have some questions. icon_rolleyes.gif
Are there reliable way to clear wood sword room?
What should I use a lot of rupee?

Any way, good arrange of my quest. icon_thumbsup.gif

You should get a magic shield to get a Lv1 sword, do you remember a room where got a blue lantern? Go up with secret pass from there. Without magic shield, getting Lv1 sword is near impossible.

Hey OUCH!

Thanks for the complement regarding difficulty. I hope you enjoy my quest and may you be the very first player - besides me - who completes without cheating. My best score was 223 deaths taking about 15 hours - and I have beaten AQ many times.

Thanks for your complements regarding the structure.

You need to get the magic shield before getting the sword otherwise its nearly impossible. Can you understand what Ama said in the base camp? She said "look for low powered spikes". Go to the dark room with the blue candle and you'll see some low powered spikes. Just above it there's the magic shield.

As for rupees - you need them to buy health, bombs and jinx cures because enemies only drop rupees in my game.

Enjoy my quest OUCH! and thanks every bit for AQ.

Try copying and pasting the link instead of clicking directly on it. I think Geocities may be blocking referrals.

Real great author can make general or challenging both. You can make only the other one, it's weakly as author, too.

I suppose I COULD make a "normal" zelda quest. But I'd probably quit half-way because it wasn't what I truly wanted to do. But hey, if I'm putting in my spare time into making a quest - it will be a quest I want - not what everyone else wants. Now, if I were working for Nintendo and Nintendo told me to make a "normal" zelda quest in exchange for the money, that'd be different... In that case, I'd make a "normal" version for the public who like easy quests, lots of flashy graphics, big story line, lots of easy little puzzles you know the drill...keep everyone happy. And then make another version for myself which would be really really hard - outside of paid time of course.

Why don't you try making a quest Stray Sheep? I'd love to play your quest someday

I see. You have freedom to make quests, so if you don't make normal, it's no problem.

I would like to make non Zelda quest, so made some original tilesets, but scraped them as crappy. Now I have a plan to making new tileset. And I can see some character ideas as picture.

I have a question. In Australia, is getting official hardcore games or information to them difficult? In Japan, it's no difficult.

I think you're again over-generalizing what "most" people like. I'd say people's tolerance/thirst for challenge is more on a continuum. Everyone has a different sweet-spot. You just happen to be on the way far end of said continuum. You probably also have reflexes and hand-eye coordination that's way above average, like that Billy Mitchell guy in the King of Kong movie.

No I'm not overgeneralizing Ferentz. I see what gets rated well and it follows a pretty clear pattern. I see what Nintendo makes and it follows the same pattern. Obviously Nintendo is for-profit so they're just going to pump out what brings in the cash. I don't like it, I hate it - but what can I do? That's just how the majority are and I have to live with it.

You know, its not all about hand-eye coordination. Challenge quests should be about strategy and outthinking and outsmarting the opposition. Granted, some hand-eye coordination is involved, but getting the strategy right is the most important thing. If you get it wrong, you'll die many many times and get frustrated without knowing why. If you get it right, you'll win sooner rather than later since you have infinite lives. Its like solving a puzzle. I'd be happy to teach these strategies to anyone who wants to know. Just post where you are stuck on the LoH thread and I'll tell you the strategy for beating that room.

Stray sheep, do you know I'm not a fan of hardcore games? I tried playing the 1st person shoot 'em ups like Doom and Wolfenstein 3d when I was young but I never really like them. Made me dizzy. Zelda was the very first game I got hooked on all those years ago. Don't feel too bad that you lost to LoH stray-sheep...its no disgrace to lose to such a difficult quest. I love Zelda Classic. I think its the best game in the world and I've tried many games.
