I made a good improvement in my opinion.

WAIT. Wrong upload. I fixed the pallete, one moment.

The new palette tweak is better. The previous had too strong of brown shadings.

Trying to balance the black a little bit. I like the way it looks, but I personally think the fences are a bit heavy on the screen. Thankfully the tileset is around 80% complete though.

EDIT: I have not messed with Link's sprites at all yet. I definitely think Link needs to stand out more though. But, it is easier to see Link when he moves on screen.

To be honest, I get a headache and feel dizzy looking at these screens. I'm not being sarcastic or anything when I say that.

I used to be able to stare at really bright palettes (and even made a few), but I've gotten to the point where I literally can't play any quests that have such bright greens or reds in massive quantities.

I'm not saying that you should dump that style or anything. But it's just something to note since I'm probably not the only person that has this type of problem. icon_shrug.gif

I have considered that maybe the palettes are too bright. It is hard for me to play test this with no other lights on in the room, lol. The palettes are likely not final. In fact, I can say for sure they are not. They will still be bright colors, but I think the saturation will end up being lower. I do however, want to capture the cartoony nature of some of the Zelda style, but at the same time, not blind players. If I hook my laptop up to my TV and play it, the colors actually are a little too intense on the screen. My laptop monitor is kind of washed out though.

I've always kind of lacked in the palette making department. They are the most annoying aspect of ZQ in my opinion.

Anthus: Those tiles clash so much. But for the overall picture, I think it works.

Workin on them caves n what not. Getitng more and more detail tiles added.

Seriously, these are the best graphics in ZQ I've ever seen, and they really make the shot look perfect.

Thank you so much, that means a lot to me. I myself though, and not too impressed as they are simple cave tiles. I need to make more wall variety, like vines on the cave walls, cracks, more stalagmites, etc.

The miners left after the cave in. Just Link and that Octo left..

Anthus, may I suggest you do something like this on the big trees?

In your screens, the small and big trees look very little alike. Also, the big tree has some rather severe shading issue: the foilage uses another light source than the stump (and than the small trees).

The colors are blinding and you better wear sunglasses if you want to look at those screens but you said that you are working on that so there's hoping. icon_wink.gif I believe you should work with something closer to the original Z1 colors.

Looks pretty good, although the left looks a bit awkward.

I also think you are over-doing the detail, just a bit.

I agree with Yoshimi, use these trees as they fit in much better with the existing tiles. I was going to post the exact same thing!

I flipped the trees, but left the colors the same. I tried using the black in the trees, but I just didn't like it. It looked too basic, IMO.

I also tried to tone down the palettes a bit, but I think they are still a little intense.

I really like these tiles though. Even if everyone unanimously agrees that 'they suck' I guess I'll be the only one playing my game icon_blah.gif
