See, I don't mind that world eight was tough, I just felt like some of the levels were too long, and I mean, once you get past them, then gaming over becomes a non-factor. Also there's the very easy leaf grinding should you game over as well. The one I mainly hated was 8-2, because the sun just made things too hectic. And I never thought the sun was annoying before.

As far as P-wings, I tried very hard not to because it just felt like cheating. But 7-7 and 8-2 was where I caved. I also tried not to use them up too much, save them for when they were truly needed. I'm not sure how I'd feel on a future replay, but again, I'd ended up in that state of making too many simple mistakes simply out of being frustrated. :P

If I ever play it again, I'll see if the All-Stars update changed anything other than graphics. I feel like a bit of smoother control would go a long way as well. In a Mario game, you want smooth control, or at least I do. Fancy jump tricks I can take or leave, at the end of the day I just want to feel in total control of my movement.

Currently trying to finish 100%-ing Yoshi's Island for the first time. Completed all 6 worlds a few months ago, and doing the extra levels now. It literally took me 3 hours to beat Extra 3: "More Monkey Madness"...

The SMAS remake brings saving to the game, which is a godsend if you don't wish to use savestates. This saving system also allows you to backtrack to previous worlds to do them again. Just keep in mind that it resets your life and item stocks though. Idk what other non-graphical changes it made.

The way SMB3 built up to (which was the result of it being a NES game) is that it turned into a game of careful resource management. Lives and powerups were distributed by the truckload, especially early on, but you need to carefully manage them in order to survive the whole 8 World ordeal; especially World 8. Just gunning to World 8 via whistles means you are in for hell, but a full playthrough should give you enough lives and items to make it manageable should you manage them properly. I personally 1cc'd the entire game on the VC, but that was because I stocked enough lives and powerful items in order to survive the hell World 8 was.

yeah is true is better made at least all worlds 1 and 2 before warp.

a popular trick is keep the rewards you get after boss 1 and 2 and use the cloud on 8-1 and do 8-2 whit the wing, i don't think is cheat use this items, they are rewards for clear the worlds

Speaking of Mario, just started up on Super Mario World for my chronicles entry and cleared most of Donut Plains. The reasons why I loved this game so much are already becoming apparent; Secret exits, Unlocking secrets that affect the entire world (something which I want to see return), Yoshi, the vast number of branching paths and more.

So far my only complaint about this game is that the Feather Cape is ridiculously OP. Its gliding ability allows for infinite flight time and protects Mario from damage at the same time, seriously breaking a great deal many levels.

The main thing SMAS version changes is:

1) The ability to save your progress which includes what world you're on, what lock blocks on the world map have been unlocked and what items you've acquired for use on the level select map.

2) You no longer arbitrarily lose maximum running speed after running for a long time/can maintain P-Speed indefinitely so long as you don't run in to stuff of course (Is best change).

And Super Mario Bros 3. really isn't that hard, it has a ton of diversity for sure though and a decent difficulty curve. I don't mean to brag lol but I used to hate World 8 as well when I was 15 years younger, but now I can quell my fear and do the levels easy peazy even as small man. For that sun level, are you aware of the shortcut/safer route you can take by drowning in either the first or second sand pit? It takes you down to a secret place with 2 tunnels to choose from, this kind of secret is featured at least once in NSMBW as well. For the dark level in World 8 (first proper stage) I can see why you'd use P-Wing there, that level can be a bit brutal at times.

I'm surprised you've never finished SMB3 before now. Also you can also bypass the sun in 8-2 completely by going down the quicksand pit at the start. That's probably the intended path for that level because it sucks otherwise.

Anyhow, I've finally gotten a copy of Kirby's Return to Dreamland from the Black Friday sale on the eShop so I've been playing that for awhile. It's fun and all that, just it's extremely short and kinda linear for most levels. Some of the levels also are extremely tedious if you miss one of those objects and have to backtrack through the entire level to try it again (6-2 is especially bad with this).

Also with the final boss:

Beyond that, I've been doing the occasional Mario Kart 8 Battle Mode with my sister (Never trust teammates, they're worse than the other team.) and Pokemon Shuffle still.

I had it as a kid, but I was more drawn to Super Mario World, which we also owned, and just never felt compelled to revisit 3.

And now I know about the pipe thing. I was tempted to experiment but just didn't; I was more determined to press through and get out of there.

That are exactly all the reasons why I consider SMW the start of the decline of Mario xd

Yoshi is OP also. The secret exits are fun to find the first time, but they get old in the replays. The game is too much focused about secret exits (so, you have to do a lot of stages at least two times if you want 100% in every replay). The pace is slower, and the platforming very simplistic because... all the challenge is in finding the exits. I prefer Mario as a obstacle course like in the nes games. Just that. SMB3 has a ton of super secrets (anchors, whistles, toad houses, ships...), but they never feel a compromise to enjoy the game. Also, I missed the cool world themes and powerups of SMB3.

You heard it here first folks, multiple objectives kill replayability.

And now Revengeance is complete. It was a ton of fun mostly for the spectacle, story was decent, there was a lot of awesome moments, and of course the music. 10/10. Er the music, not the game itself. It was a bit talkative, repetitive, and linear. Combat was mostly fun, though it could've done with better parrying and dodging abilities. I enjoyed it. As for whether I'll play the other, vastly-different main series Metal Gear games... we'll see. Not touching games that came out before Solid, no thank you.

haha, good punch xd Nah, I explained it, Mario World lack the challenguing courses that I liked (except bonus world). For me, Mario is about pace. The extra exploration does the games slower and less focused, I had the same problem with Yoshi Island and SM64. Obviously it's a personal preference, but that's the reason because I like more the Nes games.

Started playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I created a character with a custom class called Red Wizard, like the one from Final Fantasy 1. It uses mostly Destruction, Restoration, Blade and Light Armor.

Oblivion is really fun.  I personally think it is better than Skyrim.
