Fallout 4 is now my new life. Also so close to getting the Legend of the Wastes achievement on PS4. I have 8 levels to go before I hit level 50. I think I might platinum it on PS4. Be my first platinum lol.

Finally finished Tri Force Heroes. It had a very cute ending! So I went out and got myself Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon! I'm super excited to play it. I haven't played one since Explorers of Time!!

Yes, I'm supposed to be playing Mario Bros. 3, Metroid, and Four Swords Adventures, but I popped in a game I bought recently, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Never played a Metal Gear game, but I'm aware this is nothing like any of those. I've heard bits of its soundtrack and seen part of it before, and it sounded and looked awesome, and for $5, I decided to give it a try. The way it plays out, it's basically a playable movie with some fights and awesome bosses within. And it's pretty fun, mainly for the awesome music and over-the-top scenes. The fighting's fun, though I haven't gotten the hang of the parry quite yet. It's incredibly linear, which is a gripe, but at this point I've decided to enjoy it for the mindless action, which it's doing a good job at.
Although there are definitely more than a few moments where I wish the guys talking to Raiden would stop helping me...

Just so you know, if you've been avoiding Codec calls, one of the shoulder buttons (if you're using a controller) will activate a Lock-On feature. You're expected to use it to beat Blade Wolf (Level 2 Miniboss), but it's possible to beat him without it. It'll make the game much more manageable. Just letting you know because I didn't find out about it until the final level.

I know about lock-on, been using it for big targets. Glanced at the control options first, since I like to peek at any in-or-out-of-game documentation I can to get a feel for what I'm up against before heading into the game. Product of growing up with game manuals, I suppose. ![]()

Got Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon a few days ago. Haven't really gotten too far into it, reason being Buy one get one 40% off. so I also got Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. Never played the Wii version and going in blind and it's quite fun for the 2 hours I've played so far.

A couple years ago, I set a goal for myself to play all of the Final Fantasy games, only excluding XI and XIV because I don't want to have to pay the monthly bills for subscribing. I was doing great until I hit X-2, where it was like a brick wall. I wanted to finish that game, I really did. However, the fact that the game only goes over EXACT COPIES of the maps from the first game, requires a guide to be followed like the Bible in order to get the correct ending without multiple playthroughs, and is such a radical change in tone (It's not bad, but it's like taking a bite of sweet potato pie when you think it's pumpkin. You're going to gag from how different it is from what you were expecting, even if you like sweet potato.) from the first game all made it so I could never finish. I loved the first game, and would have loved to see more like it. I really wanted to see what a lot of my favorite characters were up to after Sin's defeat. I just couldn't finish the game, and every time I came back to it, because of the un-intuitive nature of progression, I'd have to start from scratch all over again.
Fast forward to two days ago, when I finally decided to screw the rules of my marathon and just watch a Let's Play. I found an interesting screenshot LP that went over the game in amazing detail, including what was wrong with the game design-wise and why it was a problem in more ways than just what was apparent. It was pretty educational even beyond just seeing the rest of the plot and how the game went. Now that I'm counting that as "finishing" X-2, I can finally move on to the next game on my list: Final Fantasy XII.
I already know that there's an upgraded "Final Mix" version of the game called "International Zodiac Job System", but found out that there's a completed English patch for the whole game. I'm tired of getting screwed out of the full game like what Kingdom Hearts pulled for years, so I went straight into that version. It's a ton of fun to play, even though I know that I'm not very far. (I just got a Sunstone for getting into the palace) I found another LP by the same guy who did the X-2 one that I read, so I'm going along with that as I play as a sort of guide. To keep from getting spoiled, I'm making sure that I'm only watching content that I've finished, but I'm going ahead a bit on certain parts so that I can assign Job classes the same. As a result, I've got Vaan as a Samurai and Penelo as a Lancer (or whatever this game's calling it. The one with the Spear weapons)
There's a bunch of neat ideas that I'm getting to see play out in this game. For instance, no enemies drop money. Instead, they have a normal death drop, a Steal drop, a Poach drop, and one other one that I'm forgetting at the moment. You gather loot from enemies, and sell it for cash and to unlock items for them to make and sell back to you from the otherwise-useless parts you sell them. It makes a lot of sense, and it adds a bit more to do in fights to get as much stuff as possible per-monster. Since there's no time wasted swapping from Map to Battle Screens, because of the real-time system, it doesn't feel like much of a hassle at all to do the extra couple steps.

Finally started Tri Force Heroes after about a month. Really wish I could've played this sooner, but I'm having a good time at the moment. Looking forward to seeing what else the game could throw at me.

I'm (almost) done with my grade grinding in Tales of The Abyss, so I'm almost ready for my second playthrough! (I even printed out a 40 page guide for the sidequests- I used about 20 staples

Making more progress in Revengeance and I think I'm getting the hang of it. It's a blast to play, just for the spectacle. And the music. The highlight is easily the boss fights though. Apparently I'm not far away from the end, since it's a pretty short game. I would say that's a shame, but I'd probably be here a long time otherwise at the rate I complete things lately. ![]()
Finally went back to Mario 3 to play more. Just one world, world 6, the ice world. And that was surprisingly a ton of fun. Just two worlds left, and I will have finally completed Super Mario Bros. 3 after all these years.

Now that I've finally put Mario 3 to rest, my final verdict is: It's quite good. Very diverse and fun to play. That is until you reach the end of world seven. 7-7 and 7-8 are two of the worst levels I've ever played in any Mario game. Then world eight is just a constant barrage of pain which made me beg for checkpoints, or at least shorter levels. At that point I was also in that mode where I start making small mistakes where I shouldn't due to frustration, so in the end I was just ready for the game to be over. And that included exploiting the fact that Bowser's feet had no hitbox. Meaning you can just camp on his feet until he breaks the floor all the way, jumping out of the way just in time. Because I was just done.
Solid Mario game, really, but the ending stretch just got too frustrating for me. I'm glad to have finally exorcised this demon, but I'm not enthusiastic about the game overall. Fun to play, but number one in my heart remains Super Mario World. And Mario 64 at number two.
