While taking on sidequests in the postgame, I've also decided to train up a secondary team while completing the dex. This time I tried to use more Gen VII Pokemon, and it turned out more balanced I think. There's three of them: Litten, Mimikyu, and Mareanie. Then Bagon, Phantump, and an Alolan Raichu I'd trained earlier. Their levels are wildly inconsistent, so I'm gonna work on that first. And naming them all... Only Raichu has a nickname, and it's Mascot. I put it as a joke originally but it kinda stuck...

 

EDIT: Alright, got them all nicknamed.

 

- The Litten (male) is Kane. So named for the WWE wrestler because of similar color schemes, and because Incineroar has a wrestling theme.

- Mimikyu (male) is Emmett. It's kind of an obscure pun based on it being an imitation of Pikachu.

- Mareanie (female) is Predatori, as it's a predator of Corsola, and also Tori is a name.

- Raichu (male), as mentioned above, is Mascot, because Pikachu's a mascot Pokemon, Pichu's my mascot, and Raichu is basically the mascot of the very idea of Alola forms.

- Bagon (female) is Lunar Dragon, because Mega Salamence looks like a crescent moon. Name shamelessly stolen from a Super Mario World speedrunning category, and it's ridiculous enough to be an awesome name. Too bad this is Sun, not Moon.

- Phantump (female) is Shade. Shade is a kind of specter, trees give shade, it works.

Okay, now I'm getting really, really curious about when Pokebank will be updated

It's this month, I think. My main concern is that if there's no free trial. I know it's only 5 bucks a year, but i have no way of paying for it. Not that i don't have the money, but where i live there's none of those paid cards and i don't have a credit card. I live in an island in the middle of nowhere.

I've done a few wonder trades and received several Pokémon I suspect are hacked. For example I got a lvl 1 Magicarp in a Masterball in addition to two different shiney Vulpix both lvl 1, one in a beast ball the other in an event ball.

It's this month, I think. My main concern is that if there's no free trial. I know it's only 5 bucks a year, but i have no way of paying for it. Not that i don't have the money, but where i live there's none of those paid cards and i don't have a credit card. I live in an island in the middle of nowhere.

If you can't get an e-shop card from Walmart or somewhere perhaps you can get a prepaid debit card with around here are readily available even at many corner stores. With that you can do it like any other debit card.

With Pokemon breeding, parents can pass down their "ball-types" to their children. Since Pokemon of different species can breed if they're in the same egg group, there is a possibility that the ones you got are legit (I think?)

 

But I too, would be suspicious of shinies obtained via wonder trades.

I'm honestly considering dropping the franchise altogether if there's no free trial when it updates to SM. I already kind got a little upset when i knew that i basically had to pay to transfer mons. They did give a free trial when they released Pokebank and i know it's only 5 bucks a year, but it's still something that was free in Gen 4 and Gen 5. It's why i only have physical copies since i can't obviously pay for digital.

If your 3DS is soft-modded, there's a local PokeBank called PKSM.  It has the ability to store your Pokemon on your SD card for use in Gens 4-7.  It also lets you edit the Pokemon, clone them, do whatever.  Best of all, it's free.

I thought about doing that as well after someone in this thread mentioned you could use that method to clone. I cloned my best ones from Alpha Sapphire to transfer to the PokeBank as I wanted to keep them in the original game as well, but using Action Replay can be a bit time consuming as you have to move all the Pokémon out of Box 2 in order to give a place for the clones without deleting the Pokémon in that box.

I'll wait for confirmation of the free trial. A friend of mine told me that the island nearby might have those prepaid eshop cards, mainly because that island has a lot more stuff than the one i live.

 

I've been playing very much lately and holy crap, some of these totem battles are insane. The first two are rather easy but the difficulty ramps up on the third and the fourth is somewhat difficult.

 

Granted, i'm not using Exp. Share, i'm only using Gen 7 mons and i'm kind of underleveled. Totem pokemon in the fourth trial was around 2 levels above my team.

Collected one inter-lingual couple for each species in the Alola 'dex so I can do the Masuda method (or just breed) anytime I choose.

In between completing the dex, which can be a pain, I also called an audible on my team. I decided to ditch the secondary team I was training but I brought in two members of it into my main team, switching out Slowbro and Muk for Alola Raichu and Toxapex. And Toxapex is really good. I've never mained a predominant poison-type (I mainly used Muk for dark attacks) but its abilities are fantastic. Also it's kind of cute in a weird way.

I finally got a shiney, it's an Exeggcute but I'm satisfied. Also got a Rowlet through Wonder Trade, which was a bit of a surprise.

Edit: Just did a GTS trade my level 32 haunter for another haunter, which I got a level 31 in return which of course as I wanted it evolved into Gengar. I never used it in past games but now I'm finding global trades very handy. Lots of people are willing to trade Pokémon that only evolve by trading.
