Ooh, you're in for a journey. Gurren Lagann is incredible. It combines basically all the things that I normally dislike (giant mechs, over-the-topness, etc) and somehow creates a masterpiece that's one of my favorite stories of all time.

Yeah.  Hopefully you enjoy it more than me. :P I have a pretty big list of complaints about Gurren Lagann.

Anyway, some anime that I've been watching has been One Week Friends and My Neighbor Seki: The Master of Killing Time.  The first one is really cute (it's basically a rom com) and the second is just a really funny series with silly shenanigans.  I sort of felt like getting away from the more serious stuff Ive been watching recently. :P

Complaints that nobody cares about. :P

You'll enjoy it. It's my favorite show of anything ever, and I'd say even the most casual of anime watchers should see it once. You may not find it your favorite, but you'll definitely have a good time watching it. If you like that, then, if you can get past some fanservice, you should check out Kill la Kill later on, by the same creators. It's got much of the same hot-blooded action and stuff that Gurren Lagann had, just without the mechs. It's a pretty great show too.

Speaking of, if anyone hasn't seen the dub trailer for Kill la Kill, here you go: https://www.youtube....h?v=pLhE2EhuoZ8

It seems pretty solid, at first a couple of the voices seemed off but after repeat listens they sound just fine. Mako's voice... bugs me slightly, I'd have to listen to it more before I can make a judgment, and Senketsu's is... kind of plain. But the rest seem solid, and I'll definitely be looking forward to checking this out. As a fan of good dubs, I'll probably end up liking the original Japanese more, but only because damn this show was well-acted in Japanese, so the dub already had stiff competition from the start. But I have faith the dub can still be competent on its own.

Replying to both

From what I've seen and read and looks like something that I think I'll like, I know already I love the intro for it. and I've also been looking into Kill la Kill since its been talked about a lot here on this thread.

So I figured I would see what the buzz is about on it soon.

Started getting into No Game, No Life.  It's okay.  Starts out as with Bro/Sis as NEET's who beat every game they play, and want a challenge.  They get teleported to a new world where the rules of the game dictate how the world plays out.  It's okay thus far, only about 4 episodes have been made for it at the moment.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Gurren Lagann. And I've enjoyed them. Its pretty interesting so far, I have a thing for giant mecha battles (well as they put it Ganmen :P).

So, not really anime related, but I finished the The World God Only Knows manga.  Phew.  Now that certainly was a series.  Something that just started out as a silly parody of harem series really got to have a strong, serious plot to it.  Close to where I left off it really started going in a direction that I didn't expect, but it really managed to tie all the loose ends - really well, I might add.  It also has some really powerful moments that I honestly don't expect from anime/manga - especially not one that started off as lighthearted as TWGOK.  Phenomenal series in the end, and it could be in my top 5.  Hard to say right now.  I powered through a lot of the manga today, so I'll have to let it stew for a bit before I can make a firm decision.

In other news, I picked up Black Bullet, which is coming out this season in Japan.  And... for positives, it has a really dark, interesting world.  It has cool action sequences, and it has some pretty grim moments revolving racism and discrimination.  There's also an air of mystery around everything, so I'm curious as far as all that goes.  But (and this is a pretty big but) they had to throw in a harem into it... for no good reason... with lolis.  It's really frustrating that an otherwise perfectly good series had to be nearly ruined because of that, and it's a big part of what I hate about the anime industry today.

Cowboy Bebop.
First seven episodes completed. All of them (except "Session #6: Simpathy for the Devil") have been extremely solid. Love its OST, it makes every scene fresh and special. The narrative is wonderful. Everything works.

I guess the best is yet to come.

The best is whenever Vicious is involved. It's still a fun show on its own when they're off doing other things, but when Vicious comes into the picture is when it really gets good.

I finally started Baccano! a few days ago. Finished episode 6 recently, and I've been really enjoying it. Isaac and Miria are so much fun to watch with all their crazy antics. The story itself seems really interesting and I like how they handle the story telling from so many different perspectives and how they cross at times. Looking forward to watching more! :3

I'm also (re)watching Hayao Miyazaki's filmography. Oh god, Porco Rosso and Princess Mononoke are masterpieces. But I still need to watch Laputa, Chihiro, Ponyo and Castle of Cagliostro.

I need to get around to watching Lovely Complex...

Been sitting on my Harddrive for god knows how long. Might as well get around to sometime this week!

Yes, I, Jubbz watch Shoujo animu. It's pretty good too when you seek out those gems.

Like Dan, I've also started up Baccano.  Pretty good series so far!  I'm really enjoying how everything is starting to wrap around together.  I just watched episode 11, so I don't have too much left, though. :(

Finished up Baccano today. That was some pretty great stuff. Like I mentioned before, the way they swapped perspectives all the time was a neat way of handling the story telling, and how so many tied into one another was really cool to see. Overall, had a great time with it! I'll have to give the dub a watch at some point as I've been told it's worth watching.

Next on my list will probably be either FLCL or Log Horizon. I'm leaning on FLCL since it's so short, but we'll see. X3

Can't go wrong with either. Flip a coin. Or something.

Meanwhile, I started Diebuster. It's clear it's playing by different rules than Gunbuster did, so we'll have to see how that turns out. Loving the animation though.
