hmm, to be honest, I think the reason it became popular was because I redrew it. Allow me to show you.

Bengal's version:

my version:

Saffith's version:

Ben's(REM's) versions:

Castchaos's version is in the database as "Metal Milkshake - Player Tiles"

If I had to assume a guess, the reason it caught on is because I decided to redraw it. I think it would have gone unnoticed had I not decided to redraw it.

Admittedly, yours is better. When did this whole thing start anyways?

I say we give credit to Bengal. He drew the original (awesome icon_awesome.gif) image.

...

And frankly, I don't think I could live with myself as an Internet trendsetter. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night... icon_sorry.gif

I formulated the idea of drawing the sprite version in my head before I noticed Alestance's version though... I'm not sure if I would have actually gone ahead and done it without other people adding their versions, so it might not have even seen the light of day. So maybe Alestance deserves a small amount of credit. I think Saffith's LEGO version is what inspired me the most, though.

I'm surprised it came out as well as it did (and it didn't even come out that well, in my opinion)--pixel art is not my forte, and I'm certainly no Relic or Exate. So far it has a perfect rating, although I feel like me saying that will jinx it. icon_frown.gif Not that I mind or that it really deserves a perfect rating or anything...

Oh. And the official title is "Milkshaek". With the "e" and "k" switched. The plural forum is "Milkshaekz". I probably should have titled the submission that, but it slipped my mind. If I ever find a reason to update it later on (I might add the miniature milkshake if I get unlazy) I'll switch the letters around.

Abbreviations are fine as long as you use the correct ones.

I'm REM. Ramblin' Evil Mushroom. I am not, however, Ramblin' Avil Mushroom, or anything else you can think of that starts with "A".

icon_doh.gif I had to leave, and I was typing fast. I guess I just though A because it's the second letter of Ramblin'.

I just can't believe I got it wrong. I'm a huge EarthBound fan, and you're name is an EarthBound enemy, so it's something I would normally get right.

Speaking of EarthBound, I've been playing it again. And laughing. Why? I've been playing through, reading the text, and comparing it it to the Japanese text. For example, in the English version, some guy says roughly "You better hurry though. She might already be gone." In the Japanese version, it roughly translates. "You better hurry. They might have already killed her." English: "A guardian angel protects her." Japanese: "God watches over her." This one's my favorite though. In English, one of the guys yells, "Don't go to Heaven!" I'm sure we can all guess what it was originally.

You're REM?!?! Can I have your autograph? I love that song you do about the end of the world and Andy Kaufman!

Anyway. Helping my dad put in hardwoods =/= best way to spend a Saturday.

Well, I've been better. Last night I let my imagination get the best of me and scared myself half to death, so I was up til like one in the morning. I woke up at 5 am today.
