The last line of your speculation post reminded me to make a pokemon joke.
"Though the elements' great guardian shall arise to quell the fighting, alone its song will fail - and thus the world shall turn to Twilight."

So this thread's been dead, which is odd, because season 4 is turning out to be the best season thus far. I think the CMC episode is the one episode thus far that hasn't wowed me with the writing, and honestly, it wowed me with content. The moves they're making have been quite Daring (see what I did thar).
Let's take an episode tally.
Here's hoping for many more amazing episodes.

It is and has always been marketed towards young girls. However, while their new series is still marketed towards young girls, I find it does have qualities that I believe make it an enjoyable show for my son.
Though while this is not a first choice show I would watch with him, it is entertaining. To deny him that entertainment because it's marketed towards girls is a sexist attitude that I would never want to teach my son. Just like how I see no harm in his sister sometimes watching boys shows (which she'll never do because she says they are boys shows. Lol)
Either way, if my boy looks like he is enjoying the show, I see no harm in it, I even pays attention to the episodes and know the characters names. Lol So while I can say I enjoy it, I'll never really ever sit down on my own to watch it.

But really and truly, Cloudopolis is beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. They really put in a ton of detail into it. It definitely feels like a great place to unwind after a hard day's work or something. I'd put it on par with Dalaran (Music and all) from World of Warcraft.
Seriously. This is amazing. Either that or I have really really low standards. Either way, I'm having a blast just flying around. This is just awesome.
Oh here's a video.

Oh this show. I have a lot to say about it, but I don't think anyone wants to hear about it.
Go ahead. As long as it's not an opinion you're regurgitating from someone else, I'm sure some people would listen. ![]()

If you really feel the need to vent about this particular show, I guess this is as good a place as any to exhibit your well researched viewpoints.
The way I see it, anyone who gets extremely defensive about something they didn't create themselves, is getting defensive for the wrong reasons.
I'm probably way off in that assessment, but that's okay.

As long as you don't make it your sole purpose to piss people off, go right ahead and voice your opinion. I'm sure people will go easy on you. Maybe.

Anyone can say whatever they want. Although that "Freedom of Speech" concept is a real thing, it's perfectly possible to make a lot of people mad at you and not care. It's also entirely possible to state an opinion in an unnecessarily harsh manner, no matter how honest, and watch as people just accept it and move on with their lives, because the opinions of others on things unrelated to you personally aren't that big of a deal.
There's no good reason to control or influence other peoples' opinions about arbitrary things.
I hate the concept of birthday cards, for example. Yet so many people really like them. I can't claim to know the actual number, (and I actually feel it's considerably smaller than I'm making it out to be.
I like to think people are better than that these days.
Especially with something like this show. If you just like it because of the animation, writing, characterization, plotlines, themes and settings, and general messages, great. Glad you're enjoying it. But if you see it for the depth that it has, and really get something useful out of it as a decent, amiable human being, than good on you. Good on you.

On somewhat of a side note, I did just see someone getting banned for being too much of a pest and/or troll by injecting too many negative opinions into a similar thread to this one on the ZDoom forums, and generally overstaying his welcome. It took way too long.

... seriously?
I'm just calling it as I see it. Bronies tend to be WAY too protective of their precious cartoon. I was only giving him a fair warning.

You can certainly say whatever you want about the show, provided it stays within the rules. However, I will say this much. Provided you have something negative to say that's more of a rant than an actual point to make, what benefit will it have for you? What will you achieve from trying to bother people who legitimately just like watching the show and talking about it? I'm not going to be upset if you don't like it, but it's honestly going to be annoying if the sole sake of it is just that, because it just creates conflict and pointless discussion. You could walk away and let everyone be, and hey, no one has to get in a tizzy about anything.
At this point, I'm not even talking about MLP, but just anything in general.

Here's an interview with Lauren Faust, the brains behind the first two seasons, at least, and the general spark behind the show. Points 17, and 23 and onward are where the meat of my point lies, assuming I have a point.
Plus, there's this classic image, with Fyre-Flye being Faust, of course. That, coupled with this amusing image, delivers her point in a small but tidy package.
Besides, I repeatedly hear from my peers that children are growing smarter, apparently. I'm not entirely sure what that means, to be honest, but I haven't really seen a childrens show that attempts to dumb things down, or even be halfway decent in terms of morality to the point of being something Ned Flanders would approve of.
This show here appears to be just that, but adds to it a vertical growth of charm and wit, often extending surprisingly high. There are Big Lebowski Ponies, for example. That link goes beyond that.
There's also the rampant expansion of quality fanworks. I'm not even going to touch upon the flops and the wannabes, but every fandom has them. The quality ones, like Flufflepuff, are just heartwarming when given the chance. It's rare that I actually have an opportunity to shed a tear over a simple webcomic.
