Beginning was pretty great. Voices are excellent. Really excellent. Amazed at the number of blatant show and internet references they put in there all at once. It was literally one after another for a solid minute or two. Then all these cameos showed up, and I'm just not sure what to make of that. It certainly wasn't horrible. I just think the first half was far better than the second half, is all. Rather, the first half had "that MLP:FiM feeling," and the second half was just a whole bunch of interesting, all in one.

So I just saw that fanmade episode. I think I'm going to be physically sick. I was really looking forward to this but then it started off meh and then continued to get worse and worse until it went full retard. Never go full retard. And then when Pinkie opened flash I swear I heard the nearby window calling to me.

The thing that makes me angriest is that we can never be rid of this abomination because the creator got permission from both Hasbro and Time Warner.

Edit: You know how I said it went full retard? No fuck that! This thing crashed right the fuck through full retard and went something I can't even begin to comprehend. This is trentagon tier. My acorns are angered. My donuts are depressed. My jimmies are rustled. My rainbooms are all sanic.

Well, I feel it's about time I come out of the stable...

 

I love this show. I love it so much. It's so adorable and charming and whimsical and beautiful and rainbowy and bubbly and *deep inhale*

 

...It's a very nicely written show with an interesting and wonderful line of characters. My favorite BY FAR is Fluttershy. OHMYGODFLUTTERSHYISSOKAWAII!!

 

Honestly not sure what else I could say. Like, totally lost for words right now. It's such a great show! ^_^ I feel horribly stupid for feeling indifferent about this show not too long ago, and even going so far as feeling uneasy about this whole "brony" phenomenon. But now, I see the true beauty of My Little Pony: Friendship is magic. I can rightly say that I am a fan of the series

Happy to hear that it's brought you happiness.   Fluttershy is definitely quite the character.  It'll be interesting to explore how deep she actually really is.  She'll definitely surprise you.  The "Iron Will" episode was definitely quite fantastic on her part.

 

The thing that I love the most about the show is how much we can utilize it to grow, ourselves.  It's pretty important to be able to take something back to our internal selves and absorb something useful. 

 

It made me take a good long look at my own concepts of loyalty, for example.  I actually had quite a thinker about it.  It wasn't something that came innately to me, and as strange as it may sound, it's definitely helping me sort some things out.  I don't know where I would have gotten a source of information like this with so few strings attached elsewhere.

So I just saw the Equestria Girls Movie. I'll put my thoughts in spoilers. But I will say this:
 

It was fantastic

I know that my standards are pretty low, and I will force myself to enjoy anything that I'm watching, even if it contains songs, which I don't quite like. Luckily, Equestria Girls doesn't take a great concept and become "lame" - Rather, it takes what would have been a rather disastrous concept, makes a lengthy episode of it, and ends up as being something that I am very happy to have watched.

For one thing, it's very funny. There were actually quite a few scenes where you will be laughing out loud. These moments are anything from internal references to the show that only Bronies will understand, to general moments that are entirely non-sequitor, or completely flip reality upside down, forcing your brain to complete the picture with hilarious results. They work wonderfully.

The movie itself works with the concept of turning ponies into humans. It of course has the opportunity to explore a pony to human transition, and understanding a bold new world, but it also gets to extend the concept of friendship into the mix. I can tell you right now that, yes, it mixes. It blends so well that it may as well be a regular episode. You'll end up with the same feeling that some crucial life-lesson was learned or reinforced, and will be happy to see it in motion and alive and well.

There are at least three songs for everyone to hear and sit through. Overall, I would say that they're pretty well done, particularly the second one in the lunch room. Nothing seemed terribly forced, (Though again, I have a terrible ear for that.) and everything was as delightful as an impromptu sing-along could be, given the circumstances.

The movie uses plenty of cameos from show to movie to make the viewer feel welcome and nostalgic. Everybody seems to have their human pairing where appropriate, and they definitely behave exactly as their Pony equivalent would. The transition between worlds for both Twilight Sparkle as well as the viewer is gradual but gentle, as both expand their awareness of their own culture by examining the vastness and diversity of life as it is lived on either side of the portal.

If I had any complaint about it, forced or otherwise, it would have to be that it couldn't have ended any other way. There was only one reasonable or logical way for the scenario to unfold in order to provide a satisfactory and happy ending for everyone involved. Not a bad thing that it was able to end, of course. I didn't necessarily expect what happened to happen, but wasn't surprised when it did.

If you have access to a theater that's playing, and you want to go with a non-Brony, there is a somewhat decent chance that they may have a wonderful time watching it. For what it is, it's good enough, but for anyone who has ever watched Saturday morning cartoons, it's pretty fantastic, and I couldn't be happier with it.

EDIT: Someone is adding Rainbow Dash to the ZDoom mod "Aeons of Death." I am seriously psyched. She's a Cyberdemon class monster, meaning there's a rare chance that wherever there would have been a Cyberdemon on that map, you'll get to fight the impossibly difficult Rainbow Dash. I think she grants you a permanent flight ability. That is far too awesome.

This playlist here contains some phenomenal music by Brony composers.  There's some fantastic stuff, particularly the song I linked to there.  Most of the "Boss music" type stuff, particularly from Nightmare Moon, Luna, Sombra, and Celestia is just epic.   I'm just completely loving these remixes.

 

 

Additionally, PonyVania exists.   Been playing it, and it's pretty neat.  It's Order of Ecclesia, but with Ponies.   I'm pretty happy right now.  My two favorite things in one program.  Damn skippy.  It's just a demo, but still.  Get it here.

 

Although there is no "world map" per se, like in the actual Order of Ecclesia, it doesn't really matter as much. It's basically Castlevania 4 in that respect, but you still have the full inventory and skill system of Ecclesia. Every level has a miniboss and a final boss, after which you get to go back to the starting area for a debriefing and a new mission, and can save your game and speak to the merchant to buy things.

The amount of new visuals and attention to detail is simply amazing. Cloudsdale looks incredible. I couldn't believe it. It's even hard to tell which graphics have been reused.

 

Anyway.

 

So, looking forward to the 4th season, obviously.  Twilight has earned her wings, now she's gotta learn 'em.

I still adore the series and look forward to season 4. I bought a copy of Equestria Girls on Blu-Ray and it was fricking awesome. But I have almost completely left the fandom. Mostly because, I realized, there's no such thing as a good fandom. 

"A fan is smart. Fandoms are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals."

 

The fandom as a group has not truly innovated in a VERY long time. It is no longer doing anything unique. People no longer write truly good fan fiction. All the art is either gore, or nothing special when contrasted with all the art the fandom has already done. The music scene still has some good musicians but the industry as a whole is devolving. Fans are getting even louder and whinier than ever before just because the writers are actually doing things with the plot. And I've kind of have it.

 

I love the show, and that's why I can't participate in the fandom. It's no longer a movement towards acceptance. It's no longer a middle finger to gender stereotypes. It's just another crappy fandom with occasional cool people.
