I'm halfway through Valkyria Chronicles. I plan to try to beat it before month's end. This is my JRPG for January. February is going to be Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Tales of the Abyss 3DS.

I also finished my favorite dungeon in OOT 3DS, the Forest Temple.

Just got "done" with Portal 2. I don't know why, but Shaft 09 is one of my most favorite game locations ever.

Definitely helps that it's also one of the best areas in the game. Incredibly clever, that part. Makes me wanna replay Portal 2...

*glances at list of "to-play" games, which includes Metroid Prime 3, Assassin's Creed II, The Minish Cap, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, and Zelda II*

... maybe later. Speaking of Prime 3, progressed through Elysia and just went back to Bryyo to pick up something I'm assuming is probably the space jump boots and/or screw attack. Unless the wall jump just got demoted to its own skill (or promoted, if you look at it that way).

Gotta love good old Cave Johnson. Doesn't let anything ever bring him down, except lemons...

Spoiler

I've started Final Fantasy VIII, and I'm not really sure what I think. I'm kind of having a good time of it so far, but the min-maxer in me won't let me finish a battle without harvesting every last drop of magic from the enemies. I finished the first Biggs and Wedge fight, and spent about an hour just holding down the X button and sucking down Esuna spells with two characters while the other pulled and used Cure spells to make up for damage being taken.

Is it true that you can pull off an incredibly easy low-level game entirely through Junctioning magic? I've completely forgotten about Triple Triad and haven't tried it yet, but there's got to be a better way to get magic than spending hours vamping the vampire bats. I mean, ironic humor is only going to take this so far.

I have been playing the Sims 3 and its expansion pack World Adventures as of late. If any of you play it, be sure to get the most recent patch and the most recent version of Awesomemod. There is a topic in this forum that deals with the tombs in World Adventures (it is right here.) If anything is certain, it is that me posting in this topic has just killed it, because my posts tend to do that. icon_sigh.gificon_cry.gif

Aside from working on 10 Questions #5 (that's not a game), I have also been playing Modern Warfare 3 and Saints Row The Third.

Also, briefly, a friend needed co-op achievement help in Portal 2 so he brought that over and I got to actually play that (beat both Single and Co-op). Best 2 days of my week.

I definitely have to get Portal 2.

I'm also hoping to get back into and finishing Duke Nukem Forever and play the DLC for it.

I do play Mario Kart 7 on the side though.

As for my current progress through the games I'm playing right now. I have made 0 single player progress in Modern Warfare 3, I completely forgot it had a single player (I thought multiplayer online WAS the single player), and I just finished the Genkibowl VII DLC for Saints Row The Third. All that's left are achievements.

Sonic Generations 3DS. I'm actually liking it a lot, but I'm a bit disappointed the modern sonic stages are 2D: The 3DS could easily handle the kind of 3D sonic gameplay you see on the console version. Oh well. Down to 48 seconds on Green Hill Zone Act 2; I'll be happy if I can whittle it down to 45.

I found repeat playthroughs of the levels more fun in Generations 3DS than the first playthrough, even if attempting to S-rank them can be a pain because you have to be flawless and know where every trap and every split in the path is. Then again, I somehow managed to S-rank classic Water Palace and modern Tropical Resort without really trying that hard. Maybe it's just different per stage, but I remember it taking forever to S-rank Green Hill Act 2. Oh well, at least they're not so easily handed out like in the console version.

As far as Prime 3 progress, finished up Elysia and took out the Leviathan; now I'm at the Pirate Homeworld. Just landed, haven't looked around yet.

I S-ranked Water Palace Act 1 myself on the first try, but Tropical Resort Act 2 took a bit of effort: I kept using that first laser immediately to get through that line of enemies, but you can skip the parts where you have to wait for the fans to turn on entirely if you hang onto it for just another second and boost through that line instead. The S-rank's trivial if you know that trick, it just took me a dozen playthroughs to figure out ;p

Honestly I wouldn't recommend anyone pay full price for the game like I did, but I could only afford to buy one 3DS game along with the console, and Generations seemed like a better option than anything else. I have played Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario Land borrowed beforehand though. Didn't finish either one because I didn't really like them. Oh well.

EDIT: Off-topic, but I suppose this is as good a place as any to ask: Has anyone been having problems with the 3D effects giving headaches? I was expecting it to give me a migraine after five minutes, but I can play with the 3D slider all the way up all day with zero problems.

I usually landed at that spot with them down, so I could just boost through without a problem. Now I just gotta find the tricks to all the other levels... and the boss fights. I've managed to S-rank Egg Emperor and Big Arm, as well as Metal Sonic and not sure about Silver, but I have A-rank on Shadow, Biolizard, and Time Eater. I know the trick to beating Time Eater, I'll just have to make sure my reflexes are perfect. Same with Biolizard. But the rival races... were really the worst part of the game. They require too much precision, and they just feel lazy (so does the fact that Green Hill's, Casino Night's, and Mushroom Hill's Act 1 are pretty much direct ports from the Genesis games).

This. Wait for the price to drop. The console version is more worth the price than the 3DS one is.

I did a little bit at first when playing OoT 3D for the first time (which was why I only had it at half-3D), but then I got used to it and play with full 3D on now. It probably just depends on who's playing it.

Have almost all the S-ranks on Sonic Generations 3DS now, except for Biolizard and Radical Highway (both acts), on all three of which I have an A. No idea how I'm supposed to bring them down much further except for subsecond optimization.
