Well, that's pretty beastly, if you ask me. A crumbling stage adds to the fun and awareness factor. icon_biggrin.gif

When I saw Skyworld in the trailer, I was thinking icon_omg.gif. It looks sweet... heh, imagine what Mario's Final Smash or Wario's "draft" will do. icon_razz.gif

Don't get me wrong: in the right hands, the Ice Climbers are a nigh unstoppable force. I just don't care to use them, cuz I'm too much of a Link fanboy. icon_razz.gif

But not as much as I am a Jack Sparrow fanboy. icon_deformed.gif I wonder what it'd be like if he was in the game...

Imagine what his taunt'd be like... icon_xd.gif

if jack sparrow was in ssbb his tuant would be "My Peanut" from PotC:AWE

Today's update is... Bizarre.

You can jump on other characters to get extra height.

And what exactly is a Meteor Smash anyway?

Meteor smashes are moves used to send opponents flying downwards at extreme speed. If done correctly, they can't recover.

That's pretty beastly. I guess that means that all Brawl characters will have meteor smashes, unlike their Melee counterparts.

How do you know it couldn't be "♫ I got a jar of dirrrt! ♫" icon_xd.gif

Anyways, that's a nice technique. Classic Mario style thing. icon_biggrin.gif I like it.

lol, BOING!

I'm two-sided on this, though. It looks like a really fun addition to the gameplay, but it also looks like it can alter the gameplay in a negative way, although I will need to play the game to find out. icon_razz.gif I'm leaning toward the positive side, though. I can just see Falco using his Aerial Drop Kick perform so much better like that. icon_twisted.gif

Meteor Smashes are Mario's forward-air, Falco's down-air, and Young Link's Flame Hilt, ect. I just can't remember if it's Meteor Smashes or spikes where you can cancel them...

Anyway, this jump thing looks like it's going to be extremely annoying, especially if it stops you while you're doing something when it happens on the ground

Happens on the ground? It only happens on an enemy's head, and only when you press the jump button again. icon_shrug.gif

They really shouldn't have added this..

You didn't make your post that clear.. If your opponent jumps twice in the air, they can slam you down? If so, If a person short jumps, wavedashes, or anything in the air, they get slammed to the ground. This also makes much easier than on Melee, because you bounce on your opponents head, so you can recovery easily. While on Melee, it is alot harder to recover, unless your Samus.

Hmm... I must've overlooked that part. In that case, I think the new feature does work well. icon_thumbsup.gif Now, can you do a double jump after that? I'll try it out when I get Brawl.

Well then, it only happens if you press the jump button with perfect timing on an opponent's head. icon_razz.gif

Maybe it is easier, but it would also be a great guilty pleasure. icon_twisted.gif

EDIT: you should be able to do double jump, if you haven't done it yet. Programming is much more advanced, these days. icon_razz.gif

EDIT 2: said it wrong. Thanks /M/. icon_redface.gif

"could be easier"? It is easier. Your basically treating your enemy as a platform, so therefore you can still use your Up + B move. And it won't feel good when your the one being stomped on like a Goomba.

I'll start at where I began reading posts - around the DK stage.

First, yeah, it's kind of like the Ice Climbers' stage, but it's a bit different. It seems to me the stage will only scroll up, and at constant speed. No more guessing which way the stage is going to scroll. No more getting close to the top only to watch the stage suddenly start scrolling downward. So that'll be nice. Also, he asks what's at the top. I'm thinking you'll scroll upward a ways before reaching some classic fighting grounds at the top, where you'll spend the rest of your time. But who knows? I never liked the IC stage, and I don't know anybody who does. But maybe I'll like this one. It also looks like you can climb ladders, though I don't see why you'd want to. It seems like it'd just make you a target, since jumping or falling would be faster. Unless you can do Smash Attacks while hanging on or something. I don't know.

I'm not really sure why this stage is "confirmation" that the Ice Climbers are out. Delfino Plaza is a lot like Falcon's F-Zero stage, where the stage moves around to different parts of the track. Does that mean Falcon's out? Not really. It just means DK has a stage similar to the Ice Climbers' old stage.

And to those who keep referencing the old rumors: they're FAKE! That rumor you read a long time ago that Ice Climbers, Game and Watch, and Young Link wouldn't be returning was shown to be false. The same rumor also said that WW Link, Ridley, and Baby Bowser would be replacing them. Also shown to be fake. A long time ago. Yet it lives on, much like the Sonic and Tails SSBM rumor lived on. Don't be fooled any more.

Next, it's about time Yoshi has a third jump. Maybe more people will use this underutilized character. Given the rest of the game, his lack of a third jump was just so unintuitive (to me), and one edgeguarding hit on Yoshi spelled his doom. Hopefully this gives him a better chance.

Pit's stage looks really fun. It's kind of like Brinstar's destructable elements, but this looks like it could be much more part of the strategy than those elements ever were. I can imagine breaking the stage to stop someone from recovering, or breaking it to force a jumping foe to change his trajectory and force him into a vulnerable position. Lots of possibilities.

And finally, the footstool jump. I can't wait to see how this alters strategy. I can see all kinds of edgeguarding techniques and counters. I could see two people get blasted outward, then frantically trying to use each other to jump back to the stage. I could even see someone airdodge suiciding just so another player can't make it back to the stage. If teammates can use the move together, I can see even more strategy (launching teammates into the air, saving them from doom while you still have your second jump and up-B to recover back to the stage, etc.

BTW, a meteor smash can be cancelled. It's the spike that can't be cancelled, I think.
