Completed a major part of my secret project.
Well, I got a lot of the project done these past 3 days. I redid some of the graphics and also fine-tuned others. Once this project hits ~50% I might announce it.

FINALLY got started on fixing things up for the expo. Lazy RedmageAdam is lazy. Also I took a video of an unused song from a game and using Windows Movie Maker, I extended it up to 31 minutes. If only I knew how to convert a video into an audio only MP3 file so I could use it in Adam's Quest Redux later on. I'm debating whether it should replace the original level 9 theme or be used for an exclusive bonus dungeon only available to the remake. See, based on what I've been told, my level 9 theme was perfect as is; a Castlevania song called "Leon's Theme". However, I'm not so sure. I also wish I could learn how to take video game music and make it into a MIDI file, because there are a few songs from obscure games I'd kill to use.
Link to the song I would use for the final or bonus dungeon:

So, what do you guys think? Save it for a bonus post-game dungeon?

For some reason this is all I can think of when I hear that Brain Lord unused track.

Slightly more progress. I decided I will show off a teaser of this project soon.

Nice stuff. I recommend to make the purple of the last book lighter because this way its hard to see the symbol on it.

Since the last few days have been nothing but recoloring tiles for LoW's main city and a dungeon for the game, I have not gotten to more overworld design or even start on the plot line of LoW to get you started. I at least have the opening tutorial dungeon at 95% and the where it takes place is going to be a secret and not be disclosed in the first demo, since I do not want to spoil the fun when I release the full version of the game (whenever I complete it). The demo will be the over world and the frozen beach dungeon for people to see how this project is progressing. FF UPDATE #1 has more details on where I am at with the project.

I think I have everything ready and raring to go for creating the Expo thread. All I have to do still is test my quest and make sure nothing is screwed up. I decided instead of rushing and half-assing the level 4 area and level 4, I decided to keep it shorter and just present what I have up to this point, just polished and refined from my last demo. I also added in an obstacle that requires level 1's dungeon item to remove to get its Boss Key. But yeah, I did a lot of layering work today and even changed one of the palettes around. It's still NES compliant, but it kind of sticks out a bit more. I also two-tone colored the White Sword so the hilt is blue and the blade is a silvery-white color.
I feel like passing out after all this work. Luckily for me, I already have the body of my thread created; it's all a matter of making the screenshots for the thread and getting it together before the 20th. I also made one special string for Eddy when a certain point comes up later in the quest that won't be in the expo. I should prepare for the worst from him; I already ruined his life with a certain running gag and even trolled him in a birthday quest I made for him last year:
Another big thing I did is that I separated all the Rupee denominations into two types. One has the tag "no pickup" while the other does. For instance:
Rupee (100)
Rupee (100, no pickup)
That way, I can control when the item pickup script plays without annoying the hell out of the player. Also, do you really want to see "You got 20 Rupees!" every time you collect a Red Rupee? It also lets me have the "secret money" guys' Rupees display the pickup message while the others won't, depending on the situation at hand. I also added in another new item called "Key (level spec, first)". This will be the first key you pick up and THE ONLY one that shows the pickup string. I don't think people need to be reminded what keys do a hundred times over.

Have you played Twilight Princess recently?
Very good idea here, I support you all the way.

To be honest, I only ever played Zelda games up to Majora's Mask, the Oracle games and Minish Cap. But thanks for the compliment!

And it's official. Adam's Quest Redux is officially tested and ready for the expo. All I need to do now is actually create the thread and get a few more screenshots. What a crazy ride of creative juices! I did nerf a couple things and buff a couple others last minute. Also, I put in my trademark troll somewhere in the expo. It's nothing like a 999 Rupee door repair or anything else retarded like that. Kind of a bit of a laugh I had with the original game that began some light-hearted trolling on my part. I can't wait to see how people react to it when and if they discover it. I did kind of make the spot fairly easy to find. I'm not being subtle at it with it.
I was also thinking about experimenting with making Nayru's Love later on a one-time use item that you can buy another of. So basically, you buy Nayru's Love for say 100 Rupees and it will have a fairly lengthy duration, but it's a one-time use. You would have to buy another one. That way, you can't just spam Nayru's Love and cheese everything, but at the same time, it's not like it is in say IoR where pretty much the instant you finish casting it, it's already about to expire. It's about the only way I can think of balancing it without adding in a magic meter, and giving it say a 100 Rupees per cast cost seems kind of cheap, since it would promote Rupee grinding, meaning those that don't grind are at a disadvantage while those that do can simply "buy" their way to victory. Of course, it's always possible to have enemies ignore it.
Honestly, I have to wonder if it would be possible to make Nayru's Love function as a spell that halves the damage taken for the duration. For instance, I cast it in a Green Tunic and for 20 seconds while it's active, I'm treated as having a Blue Ring. Or if I had the Blue Ring, it would be a 20 second Red Ring, and so on. But I want to gauge interest in repurposing Nayru's Love to simply reduce damage instead of flat out make you invulnerable first. Even so, I wouldn't use it until at earliest post expo.
