I've only played WWHD, which means I had the Swift Sail, so I don't feel qualified to talk overall on WW, but at least WW also had really good and useful warp points everywhere also. OoT's were often in places that weren't super useful IMO, so you'd still have to do a lot of travelling after warping. Also, yeah, the minidungeons, islands, and forts really made it work for me.

You probably wanna look up a playthrough online on the original then.
The original Wind Waker's overworld was awful. It took centuries to get anywhere. Even after getting the ability to warp. You also had to play the same dang song and see the same cutscene to the change the Wind's direction every time you wanted go somewhere unless the wind was at the direction you wanted already.
I got a lot of reading done while playing Majora's Mask and Wind Waker.

It sounds like I played the better version, so the solution is that I should look up a worse version and be bored? Is this one of those "back in my day we didn't have it so nice" kinda things? ![]()

I personally enjoyed the sailing in the original Wind Waker because the atmosphere was so fantastic, the sea, the clouds, the seagulls following you, the occasional creatures or platforms, the sense of discovery was immense. I also found sailing at night to be quite peaceful, ya know except when enemies popped up. Sure, when I got WWHD and the swift sail, I used it because there's definitely an impatient side of me. When I didn't have it, though, I never complained, because it actually felt like an adventure. You never know what may pop up during your travels, or what kind of islands you can discover and explore for secrets.
If Zelda U manages to recapture that feeling, only on land, I'll be more than happy.

I'd say since the whole slow motion jump think is one of the main gameplay mechanic they are selling us right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see various types of arrows.
Maybe even the ice arrow and fire arrow will return.

This game looks like it will be huge. I think Nintendo will do a good job with this one. Also, I agree about TWW's ocean being fun. I liked sailing across it. If anything, I hated changing wind direction, but other than that, I liked sailing around. Same with OoT's field. I know you spend a lot of time walking across it, but after a certain point, fairly early, you get epona, and can ride around which is a lot faster, and probably what they really intended the area for anyway.
I am excited to see how dungeons are incorporated in this gam

I have a Wii U now, but if I didn't get one for Christmas, I would also definitely buy one only for Zelda U. It just looks simply so amazing and I can't wait until it comes out so that I can play it on the Wii U.

Can I call something? The game is coming to come out in the holiday season of 2015. Just a premonition.

You guys'd blow $300+ on a whole system for just one game xD?
Just imagining someone getting the Virtual Boy for the sole purpose of playing Wario Land.

I think I'll just rent the console and the game when it's out, just so I can play it. I have no plans of getting a Wii U yet.

You do know that buying a console for a certain game doesn't mean that you can't buy other games for it later on, right? For a while, Wind Waker HD was all I had for Wii U, because that's what I'd wanted for it. My collection grew later. Sometimes, all you can afford is the system and one game, and you gotta have that one game to edge you over. Not everyone has the kind of money that just lets them say, "Yeah I'll get this system, a couple controllers, and a few games." Same thing happened when I bought a 3DS as well, I really wanted one but my budget didn't allow me to get more than one game, so I just stuck with Mario 3D Land for a while. And even then, sometimes people are just so excited for a game that it's a must have. Gee, who'da thunk that in a community focused around Zelda, it'd be the new Zelda for Wii U that urges people to buy one?

I know I will because I'm stupid
, I did the same thing for the Wii... I think I do that for most Nintendo games because I'm a stupid person.
