So... with Xenafer, am I just waiting him out? I've tried various combinations and nothing seems to harm him. Is he vulnerable when his eye-lights go out, or is that just signal to a new stage? I'm just peppering him with no real knowledge of what's damaging him. Does he show damage flashes when I've hit him with the correct attack? Any clues?

He is so random so his attack pattern is unpredictable it is up to ZC what move he is going to make.
The two knights noted that he was weak against the arrows and all you have to do is wait for him to lower his guard and all out attack you. (The arrows will only stun him like in the Ganon fight in Ocarina of time which opens up the attack).
Other than that it is just dodging and killing slimes.

In the challenge behind the tower the wizrobes don't seem to take any damage, Am I missing an item?

Couple of things.....
Can you find the magical boomberang in level 5?
I found a bug in level 5..... when the water is lowered all the way, and you head down the stairs (you need hammer to access it), it will bring me to the same room as where the water level is higher. I go up the stairs and the water is higher.

The boomerang can be acquired after you get the hookshot below level 2 in a cave.
With that level 5 problem I been working on fixing the bug reported by Patgarret which has something to do with that. I missed a few corrupted warps when I upgraded to the new 2.50 version. I will get an update out as soon as possible.

The Wizrobes in tower floor 5 are the default Zelda Classic versions.

So.... if I only need to complete level 5 to complete the ??? dungeon, where can you get the magic shield to deflect the wizard's beam? I am missing the boss key for that level and have found 3 keys... used 2 of them... last one you need to access a warp which appears you need the boss key to get which I am assuming you have to kill that wizard which requires the magic shield...

Sorry I meant the windrobes an I am behind the tower in the challenge, not in it

I did not put any windrobes in the tower floor 5 (The only windrobes I modified where the ones for the metal arrow mini game and they where tailored to be shot at with arrows like the gohmas).
The mirror shield is not required to complete the ??? matski that mirror robe is a bonus thing you can do later. There is a room you have to fail the time challenge in to open the way to the boss key.
