It was dubbed by Aniplex, who are known to be expensive. Don't hold your breath about the show itself though. Its animation is gorgeous and its music is enjoyable, but the pacing isn't very good, there's a lot of wasted potential with the amazing world created, some plot points are rushed or just outright stupid, and the second half of the series is too bland and pointless and (occasionally) sexual and a waste of time. I think the show could've been much better if they ironed out the stupidity and just made the first arc extended into a more fleshed-out 20-something episode series. The dubbing is pretty bland too, and I had to fight temptation to switch to the sub version when Yui showed up. This is coming from a guy who normally doesn't mind dubs, except when they're no good; I'll fight tooth and nail to tell you Gurren Lagann's dub is far superior to the original, for example.
Basically I'm warning you not to have high expectations. You might find more enjoyment in the show if you have low or no expectations.
Meanwhile with myself, I've finally started on Cowboy Bebop and am a little over halfway through it. So far, I like it. I do dig this space-adventure-type stuff, it's almost like an anime version of Firefly, or vice-versa since Bebop came first, but I use that comparison loosely since they're not that close alike, it was just the closest comparison I could make. I enjoy the characters and the dubbing is quite superb as well, but who couldn't love anything Steve Blum does? Looks like the characters' backstories are starting to piece themselves together though, as is an overarching plot. Hope it don't disappoint.
On the side I'm watching a short, cute little anime called Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth I found while digging around Anime News Network, and I, being susceptible to cute things, decided to check it out with my friend. It's about a young Japanese girl named Yune who was brought to late 1800s Paris by a French traveler (who looks like a taller, thinner Iroh with hair). Only two episodes left and one special apparently, but so far it's been cute and well-written for what it is. Nothing too special, but a nice little cute and entertaining show.
Log Horizon is still on the horizon (*shot*), but I think I've decided that I wanna watch Kill la Kill again after I finish Cowboy Bebop. I enjoyed that show way too much and want to give it another run.
