Well, maybe it's not supposed to be foggy in Hyrule Field? xD

If you're referring to the cloudiness from the original N64, that was graphical limitations: It always blurred what was in the background, and some objects didn't show up until you got close to them. With the power of the 3DS, that limitation is a thing of the past now; you don't see it Twilight Princess. icon_razz.gif
No, I'm not talking about that (or fog, Lynker)

I'm talking about the distance. It's common knowledge that if you look at a mounta-- nevermind, I'll just find a picture. http://www.fun-costa...ntain-range.jpg

See how everything in the distance is semi-faded? That's what I mean. I only "overdid" it in my screenshot to show what I meant even clearer... I suppose I failed there icon_razz.gif Basically, I think it should have something like that, as it makes the field look larger (I already said that in my post icon_razz.gif) It's not super-realistic, as the field really isn't too large, but it will make it look, and feel a lot larger, and it would make a difference. It would also work really well with the 3D icon_razz.gif

Basically, what I'm saying is that they need to add a bit more depth. Imo. They already have this "fading" I'm speaking of, but it's so under-done that you don't notice it too well, and then the point is really lost. icon_unsettled.gif

As it was on the last page, I'll just quote it:

So, I'm wondering why they haven't done something like this:

My crappy Photoshop-edit:

My skills with the shop aren't that good, and I didn't exactly spend a lot on time on this... plus, I think I overdid it a little too, but either way, it'd be nice if they tried doing something similar, as it really makes the field seem a lot larger than it is. *shrugs*

Either way, I do think the graphics are looking nice, but... I just can't help but feel that they should have gone a little further, especially seeing as the 3DS is most likely more than powerful enough.

I see what you're saying, Migo. It's an interesting point. icon_shrug.gif I'm fine with it either way though. So some things aren't top notch. It still look faaaaaantastic. :3

Oh, i get it now. But still, it's not exactly supposed to look realistic. But the way they did it looks amazing.

Oh, it's not so much about realism. I even stated in my post that doing it would be a bit unrealistic, as the distance isn't really that great, but it'd improve the look and feel of the game, which is very important, regardless of realism. Though, yes, the game does look fantastic icon_razz.gif

I agree the lack of the fog/blur would make the game environments seem ridiculously small.

But it would somewhat look better.

I'd rather them keep the fog, it really was a great effect, even though I doubt it was intentional. icon_razz.gif

No, I added said "fog" using Photoshop. It's not in the actual game. It's not fog either, but rather colorwashing. It makes the field seem larger than it is. I overdid it in my mock-up just to prove a point... in the actual game, if they did this, they'd probably not make the "fog" that strong.

To answer your question properly, it was due to graphical limitations on the N64. That's why it used fog, so it would obscure the fact that objects in the distance only appeared when you got closer to them.

I realize this, but I meant it would be nice if they'd keep it from the N64 version of the game. I also know that they probably won't add it to the final game.

Yeah, I figured as much, thanks for clearing that up.

And who's to say Hyrule isn't small?

Oh come on, you know perfectly well what I meant. It'd make the gameworld look and feel more real too. Not real as in "realism", but it'd help the player immersing him or herself more into the world of Hyrule. It'd also look fantastic with the 3D effect added in, as it'd go a long way towards making it look like an actual 3D environment. So it's not so much about making the field seem "bigger", than it is making it look better.

Grr, it's irritating me that there's no new news. I want more gameplay, except with a dungeon, or Adult Link!
