I took a break before Dime Tower to upgrade some gear with random fruits and veggies. I'm currently using the spear and the staff. I'll likely finish the game using the spear as long as everything is vulnerable to jab. I currently have +50 defense from the item I got from leveling Warrior 40 times in a row, so now I need to focus on my Mind stat to raise my magic resist.

Ahh, I am so mad that my GBA isn't working as I love this game! Nintendo needs to port this over to the 3Ds ! I had the nearly every spirit as well as the brownie ring and Niccola's secret shop menu opened. I was also at a high level as well (i forget what one but I already had a final class title of Sage) and basically was OP'd as I did alot of grinding for materials and such for better weapons, such as the various Aerolites that you can get.

I might try and find a new GBA just to play this game though...

Limebeer: Do you, by any chance, have the DS or DS Lite (not the DSi)? You can play GBA games with it...

After grabbing the stylus from my old DS Lite I decided to get back to Etrian Odyssey Untold, since Etrian Mystery Dungeon comes out next month. On top of that, Untold 2 is supposed to come out this summer in North America, so I'd like to be caught up. XD I'll probably end up juggling it with that one EO IV run I was doing.

I'm doing story mode, and am debating if I'll go for 100% as I did so on the original game already. Though from what I've seen so far, a lot has changed from the original, so I may try either way. XD Presently I'm on the 5th floor of the first stratum, with the average party level being 14. All the FOEs except moral hunters are blue for me. (They're orange at the moment)

Anyway, a few things I'm immediately noticing -

1. The inn is completely obsolete because of floor jumping. This isn't really a complaint more than it is something I noticed, since later in the game the prices are negligible at worst. Though for the first stratum, you'll still need to to there to save. But once you find the first geomagnetic pole...You don't even need to go to the inn to save. XD

EDIT: I realized I should probably explain this a little bit - there are healing springs in the game that completely heal your party and being fallen characters back. I want to say they're on the 3rd floor of every stratum, with the exception of the first. (though until you beat it, there's someone who will do the exact same thing) You can just floor jump to one of these, heal up and be back on your merry way.

2. Warp Wires/Ariadne Threads are almost rendered useless as well. If the floor you're on doesn't have floor jumping available, it usually doesn't take long to go back to one that does, then just floor jump to town. Though they're still handy for when you get stuck between a group of FOEs or something, or are in extreme peril and can't make it back a floor safely. Though like the inn, the cost of these are negligible once you have decent money flowing in.

They're not really complaints, but more observations. Though I wouldn't mind if they made floor jumping cost something in future games, since it's a really powerful tool. (Maybe you can only do it so many times in a day?) It's definitely a nice addition though, since traveling the same floor so many times to finish a stratum can get irritating, even after unlocking the shortcuts.

Regardless, I'm liking it so far. I like how the floors have been changed up. Those rock pig things definitely were a shock to me, ha ha.

I just started playing Codename S.T.E.A.M. I hate to say this, but I'm actually not that impressed with the game. It feels very restrictive. Probably because all of your actions require steam which you have a very scarce amount of. Plus, the Enemy Phases are very long. I don't know why Intelligent Systems did not include a speedup option like they did with Fire Emblem Awakening. So far, it feels like an inferior version of Valkyria Chronicles.

Yeah, Floor Jumping requires you to explore the entire area the stairs are connected to to open that up. I believe you have to do the downstairs first before you can activate an upstairs on that floor. If you haven't activated one on the current floor you are on, you'll have to backtrack to one that does to get out. So, Ariadne Threads will still see plenty of use, especially in that horrible 6th Stratum.

Compared to EOIV, it's a lot more generous with just about everything still. Even abilities are quite a bit better without counting Grimoire Stones.

Maybe it's because of how early it is, but I haven't found myself needing to use them , as I can usually pull myself to the previous floor and floor jump my way back. I also tend to be very thorough with each floor, so I've yet to have a floor not give it to me the moment I find the stairs going down. I'm sure this game will go out of its way to prove me wrong though, ha ha. XD

Though 6th stratum will definitely be one I can see Ariadne threads being incredibly helpful if it's anything like it was in the original, what with all the warps and pits. >_> That, and getting stuck between FOEs or being so injured that one failed attempt at escaping could be a game over. I may or may not have had both happen to me. >_<

Yeah, the 6th Stratum is arguably even harder than in the original from what I've heard. I've only seen a tiny bit of the original's 6th Stratum myself, so I'm not too sure difficulty-wise. That's also playing on Hard which I'm not really interested in doing as Normal is hard enough..

That scares me a little as I'd argue the original's was the hardest of the series out of what I've played. (One could make a case for EO 3's 6th stratum, but I stand by the first game's 6th stratum.) Some of the gimmicks in that stratum were extremely mean and I recall the enemies being really tough. Not to mention, if I'm recalling correctly, there were no short cuts until the very last floor. Mind you, once you unlocked this short cut, you never had to go through the rest of the dungeon again. (There'd be a teleport right next to the geomagnetic pole that took you just outside drakoid/dragoid/wyrmoids' door and beyond that Primevil.)

In a way, I'm looking forward to it. Just to see what's changed and what they kept.

Well I finished Another World (GOG's 15th Anniversary edition, with original music and graphics).

Now the good stuff: I really like the wordless, dialogue-free narrative. This game understood that videogames can have their own language, and that they're as capable as movies and books to express feeling and tell interesting stories, with memorable scenes. The lack of words makes the central character even more alien and isolated in a strange, hostile world, and his friendship with the renegade alien grows scene after scene.

However, I'm kinda sad that in order to explore videoganes as a form of art, thia game overuses many verbs from movied and other mediuns, rather than developing its own verbs. Some of my favourite games are pretty good at this (Mario, Minecraft)... I recently talked with a friend about Captain Toad, and our conversation leds us to speak about Shigeru Miyamoto, and my friend make a good point about some sensibilities Miyamoto applied to some of this games: weight is highly important in Super Mario Bros's jumping. I certainly miss that (gameplay as a character) in Another World, with its overuse of try-and-repeat level design and clumsy controls.

But it's a good game, if ultimately failed.

Decided to start playing Fantasy Life again. I'm currently trying to finish some quests as I'm a minimum Master in every life, and a Hero in 4 of the lives. I'm also at level 60, though I do not have the DLC for this game... I'm still planning on getting it eventually though.
Right now I'm working on getting to Hero in Mercenary, after which I will be working on my Magician class.

I also am enjoying the fact that, once you beat the storyline, you can (when going to a certain spot) reassign all of your stat points! For a marginally expensive price, ofcourse, but the option is there still ;)

Unfortunately, i forget what I originally was doing in the game when I stopped playing, so I forget if I was training up the current weapon I have to make a new one and such as that... Ah well, I'll figure it out.

I hate to say this, but I may consider selling Codename STEAM. I am completely and totally underwhelmed with this game. The gameplay doesn't really evolve as I progress, there's hardly any story or customization, and the enemy phases are so freakin' long. If there any good reasons why I shouldn't sell this game, please let me know.
