those trees overlap perfectly. "not supposed to" is very different from "doesn't look right." no offense is intended here, but it drives me nuts when people profess to know how tiles or tilesets are supposed to work and use that as a basis to criticize creative uses that work visually. to me, the only thing that distracts in that screen is the blockiness of the grass and flowers.

Get rid of some, (or all) of the flowers and you'll be good icon_wink.gif

Did that. I like it without any flowers, but it makes everything look a little less ornate, and since this is supposed to be the temple of the triforce, that was what I was going for. Still works very nicely though. icon_smile.gif

Well, it doesn't look good. Nintendo never overlapped them that way, just because it looks bad, and they are the creators of the sprite afterall. :P
The MC Trees can be used in different ways than Nintendo used them, but the outline of the bottom tree should not display on top of the highlighted area of the tree above it, hence move it down a tile. <-- Which looks good.

Note: In my post, I said it was a minor thing. But here's my explanation to it. :)

I am having trouble seeing it as you wrote, but I did zoom in (why don't y'all scale your images to 200%?) and saw many more issues with tiles that don't flow together. it looks great zoomed out to a tiny picture, but upon closer inspection there are too many tiles that clash, a bunch that lack grass and a few that straight up get cut off. I withdraw my support of that screenshot.

Just to show I've been up to something; Here's a screenshot of an old screen with a new overcast-ish palette.

You know what never ceases to amaze me? Your stuff always looks so unique. Like, there's nobody with a style quite as your's. I see the Relic-inspired heritage (which I consider a good thing) but it's so much more. Until now, every work I've seen by your had your own signature style and it never looked like it's trying to be someone else. I believe that's why I love your screens so much. Other than that they are beautiful I mean.

Thank you, Yoshimi. You, much like myself, like to see the visual aspects of Zquesting as a form of art, (plus have an interest in art in general) so its always nice to hear your input. I put alot of effort in creating something as visually unique as possible to both the ZC world and video games in general to hopefully inspire others in this community to do the same. The Relic-inspired heritage I'm trying to slowly eliminate as I find other graphical resources that blend with the Zelda perspective.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this is the old title screen, but I plan to reuse these graphics for my secret project. So, thoughts?

Very nice Shane. It looks quite beautiful if you ask me! It has a dark and mysterious feel to it. Could that be the theme of your game?

Well, either way, looks great! Gets me excited from your quest! icon_smile.gif

I like the screen Shane. Very simple, harmonized and captures the 'Legacy of Light' feel.

Master using it and you can have this. Im still adjusting the palette by adding more colors, but I really dig it. I feel it brings a mountain feel.

great shot. I'd fix the obvious repeating pebble over the sand/dirt line and sand/grass line and get rid of the stupid gameboy barrier thing on the ledges (or at least make it be comprised of logs or something more natural). what's with the stairs/bridge/ladder?

What do you think about making the screen even brighter, and then adding a transparent-black layer 6 to darken everything, including Links colors? That might work. icon_shrug.gif

Miniboss battle! (I know the room itself is pretty basic, but it does it's job well)

The subscreen is still goofed up. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to fix my sword script or go with the default sword, so it appears twice...

The screens are good, but there is nothing special about them. Nothing wrong with that, though.
Also, I don't like the grass colour. I feel like I've seen that before.

I like the overall design and idea, but the screen just seems too... chaotic. There's way too much going on all at once. I'd say narrow down the tile variety a bit, and edit the palette to make some of the objects stand out against the walls and floor better.
