NOTE: even before that particular toy was released, fans were calling her Bubbles, on account of many serious fans didn't like naming a character Derpy.

You realize Derpy was
like
the most pathetic name the fandom could have possibly given her. Almost as bad as fans calling themselves bronies.

Practically speaking, Bubbles is a much better name.

Yes it matches her Cutie Mark, though two things:

1) We don't know how she got it.
2) If Bubbles were her name we would have to find out if her cutie mark matches her name or vice-versa, which would open up a whole can of worms like "Why isn't Pinkie Pie's name balloons or her cutie mark a big pink pie, or pie with pinkie-fingers sticking out of it horrifically?

Because Pinkie Pie's name and cutie mark were established in G3, prior to any canon explanations for correlation between cutie mark and talent being given.

Considering that's how the character was defined for well over a year, and that the fan-given name was actually aired in an official episode, yes; it does.

Were we to go back and make Stimpy or Pinky to be respectable gentlemen, that too would be contemned.

I don't think you understand why people are frustrated about Derpy getting her name changed. It was, essentially, a shout out to the fans, and they changed it because soccer moms complained. And then underping her eyes was completely silly.

Also, as Scootaloo said, what's wrong with your attitude recently?
