Fun fact: The first time I beat LBW, I did it without the red mail too. Or the blue mail. Or shields. Or bottles. Or sword upgrades. And I still didn't die until the final boss. LBW is certainly enjoyable, but dang is it easy. I wish hero mode would have been unlocked from the start so I didn't have to resort to self-imposed challenges to make it enjoyable.

For a real challenge, you should try beating it on Hero Mode... WITHOUT dying once.

I gave up midway (getting hit will hurt. A LOT), but trust me, it will be well worth the effort. up.gif

Done that ages ago, it's not really all that difficult. Even 100%ed that file. Most ZC quests put up more of a challenge in the end.

Now Green Tunic, 3 hearting the game on Hero Mode is probably a challenge at least.

The Rental Shop also takes away the difficulty if you rent everything early on. But seeing as you can't finish the game without renting most items, it's always going to be easy in the end.

Anyway, I've been playing Pokemon Shuffle on and off. Honestly, it's not very good. It's more something to play out of boredom while waiting for real games to come out.

While similar to Pokemon Battle Trozei/Link Battle, it's far more luck based and a lot of levels can't be done unless you buy a lot of items to bring in. After getting wrecked repeatedly in a stage and buying an item that basically puts it in Easy Mode, it's very disappointing to clear it.

If I had to rate it right now, I'd give it a 3/10.

Apart from that, I've also been playing some random ZC Quests.

You know I have some serious weirdness going on when I made Shinya Arino in Wrestlemania 2000. I'm tempted to team him up with AVGN, but I'm not 100% sure. For those of you that don't know who he is, he's the main character of the Japanese TV series "Gamecenter CX", or what Americans call the Retro Game Challenge. Basically, he plays and tries to beat hard retro games. But yeah, I made HIM of all people on my Wrestlemania 2000 cart.

Arino >>>>> AVGN

Two years since the last time that I saw a episode of Game Center CX, it's a great show

Here's a fun fact: the first time I beat ALBW, I did it without the red mail, but that was only because I couldn't find it. (I found it on the next run though.)

Yeah, I found the red mail by accident when I first played it!

Oh gods, that Hero Mode... I got my ass kicked when I first entered the Dark World. Luckily I had fairies as those monsters could pretty much one-hit you when you first enter it! But it was definitely worth the effort, like you said!

Now do Hero Mode with 3 hearts and none of the bonus upgrades you can unlock in dungeons!

I actually didn't get the red tunic either but for me it was on purpose. I wanted the boss to be more challenging than what I was expecting. Heh. Will have to give Hero Mode a try, though I've never been one to replay a game immediately after completing it!

I always thought the second part of Yuga was harder than it looked. :P I tried doing a three heart run without any tunics, but right up to Yuga, I was insta-kill. I got all bottles, but it still was stinkin' hard. But I was a loser and ended up getting the red tunic. At least I still beat the game without a tunic until then. XD

Well, I DID warn you that getting hit on Hero mode was going to hurt, especially without tunics... :P

fair enough

Anyway, I played Quake (via the Darkplaces port) on Nightmare the other day, and as expected, I got my butt kicked. id wasn't kidding when they said that skill level was so bad.

Is Quake better than DOOM? Because I find DOOM borderline boring, but at least playable for short sessions.

Hmm, trying to think on what to get right now for my Coin rewards... Original Legend of Zelda, or Sakura Samurai...

Other than that, playing Links Awakening some more.

OSRS Iron Man again and a bit of the free to play Ultimate Iron Man. I'm very scared to do Dragon Slayer on the latter, mostly because in f2p, the ONLY source of Planks is going into the Wilderness, where other players can (and 99% of the time WILL) attack you. I need three of them, and f2p is swarming with player killers. One encounter with them most likely means death to me, which means as an Ultimate Iron Man, I lose EVERYTHING. Yeah, sound fun? I'm tempted to cheat a little and get a bond to get membership for 14 days so I can get them safely. The other way would be to just get at least 25 Magic (since I'll need 33 for Dragon Slayer anyway to save myself 10,000 coins) and just teleport away if attacked. Of course, I would only attempt this suicide mission late at night during the weekdays to minimize my risk of being attacked. Also, the higher I level up, the stronger and stronger my attackers can be. So leveling up could actually make it HARDER for me. I really should have just gotten them when I was a level 3 and had almost nothing to lose.

Anyway, Arino had his debut in my ring against the AVGN and beat him via finisher into a pin in 9:38. Now all I gotta do is edit them to be each other's enemies and I have the stage set. Besides, AVGN already has Duke Nukem for his partner. So in Gamecenter CX terms,

"Arino's Challenge: Defeat AVGN" CLEAR!

In other news, I'm tempted to make Mike Matei and Bad Luck Bootsy as two of AVGN's alternate costumes. They could all be different Superstars, but then they're forced to share a move set. Possibly try to make a few of Arino's ADs as his alternates as well?

Quake is a great game, but whether it is better is a matter of opinion. You can try out the 1-episode shareware version (similar to how most id games in the past offered), and if you like it, you can register or buy the retail version (preferably the latter).

One problem I've personally had with the latest development autobuild release of DarkPlaces (I use the 64-bit built, so YMMV) is that I couldn't get the 'center view' button to work, even when configured via the options menu. Oh yeah, you will need a decent graphics card to benefit from DarkPlaces' graphics features.
