Link's Awakening completed. This game... is just so beautiful. The graphics, the world, the atmosphere, the characters, the world, the dungeons, the story... I want another Zelda game like this, with an unconventional plot and a mystery you unravel the further you progress, I want characters that are fun and lively and bring the world to life, I want thought-provoking dungeon design that has puzzles, yes, but are just as much obstacle courses to challenge your brain and your reaction time a little. There are little hitches in the game, sure, such as slow text, annoying messages that pop up after touching something like a big rock, a bit too much handholding by way of the owl (he's worse than Kaepora Gaebora, I said it), a bit of slowness when it comes to weapon switching, and... the very existence of Guardian Acorns and Pieces of Power. However, if these issues were smoothed out, it's hard to say whether or not A Link to the Past would still be my favorite Zelda game. Zelda games are still a hell of a lot of fun, and all in their own unique ways, but if they were to copy one of the previous games' styles, just for one more entry... Link's Awakening is my clear first choice for that.

Anyway, on to Ocarina of Time. The 3DS version, because boots.

Kind of taking a break from trying to do a living dex in Alpha Sapphire. I was originally planning to play Etrian Odyssey Untold until I felt like working on my living dex again. However, after talking with friends, I decided to do another round of Etrian Odyssey IV instead. >_> I had a solo run going at a point earlier, but ditched the save after finding out the end game stuff takes an absurdly long time solo. I'm not surprised exactly, but I don't have the patience to sit through certain battles taking as long as they would. >_<

Anyway, I decided to do a few things differently this run. I'm running a very different party than last time. Before, I ran -

Old party, spoilers on later classes

The new party as of right now is -

Night Seeker - Focusing on ailments. I'll probably have him use that one decoy skill as well
Dancer - Focusing on healing dances primarily, though I'll probably invest into other stuff later.
Fortress - Taunt build.
--
Runemaster - Not sure exactly. Doing a fire build right now, but that's subject to change later.
Sniper - Focusing on binding the crap out of the enemy

So even for classes I used before, I'm trying builds I never did previously. However, to make the run more interesting for me, I decided on a few restrictions.

The first is seen in the party itself - no medics. This means I'll be relying on my dancer to keep the party up through regen waltz as well as packing plenty of curatives.
The second restriction has to do with equipment. I'm allowing a weapon and one piece of armor - nothing else. This will mean money management will be easier so upgrading gear will be far more doable, but it'll be interesting to see how this'll affect the later parts.
And finally, the big one - no subclassing. I'll be relying on what each class has to offer upfront.

I will allow myself to use the unlocked classes though, which I think I'll end up doing with at least one. My goal is to beat the final post game boss, but we'll see. :P Just beating the main game will be interesting. XD

That's interesting, I decided a few days ago to continue my second run of EOIV as well. It was going to be a genuine run, but I didn't plan properly so I've kinda cheated in some parts.

Unlockable class spoiler

I'm experimenting with a Nightseeker as well since everyone praises them so much. So far, he's been quite disappointing to the point I've considered replacing him multiple times. (Reason I didn't - More grinding.) It's a little too difficult to get binds/ailments to land and beyond that he's a more fragile Landsknecht pretty much.

Old team:

Slight spoilers

New, somewhat junky team:

Slight spoilers as well

Right now, I'm near the end of the 4th Stratum with the boss that's being a real pain. Binds and Ailments really don't seem to ever work on it.

Currently, after unlocking all stages, the second challenge card, as well as all players in Super Smash 3ds, I'm currently unlocking all of the alternate moves for a few characters... I already have Link and Lucina fully unlocked, and am now working on Robin (he/she's actually not too bad... I haven't given him/her enough credit for playing)
I'm also enjoying that I'm finally getting some decent equipment drops, and that I think the most benefit for Smash Runs are making your Character a Speed/Bruiser (though you still don't want to drop your defense into the negative)
The smash run's, I find, are the most enjoyable part of the game when playing Solo. The classic run is quite good as well, especially when you can play against Crazy Hand, but the Smash Runs just are amazing!

I will probably do two or so more runs at getting Robin more moves before enjoying some more Link's awakening.

EDIT:
I'm playing Link's awakening, just got the Red Tunic (directly after Level 3) and Lo and Behold! I picked up a Piece of Power! Which I don't remembering having such a high drop rate in the original GBC game...

I've been playing Ninja Gaiden 2 again for the Xbox 360.

NinjaGaidenII_esrb_051008.jpg

Ninja Gaiden is a game that doesn't understand what easy means. Even when trying to make an easy difficulty to give players a break, they still seem to create something ungodly terrifying and tough. This game and its predecessor has got to be the hardest games I ever played. They easily surpass the difficulty of the NES versions by a mile.

I decided to try and beat the game on its hardest difficulty. Bloody hardest game I ever played. I thought Ninja Gaiden Black was bad, but it's very difficult to tell which one's worse.

Either way, I'm in the final level on Mentor mode (aka very hard mode). If I am able to beat this level and beat the final boss, I'll finally unlock Master Ninja mode.

Then God have mercy on my soul.

Update: I just beat Mentor mode. Now I'm ready to take on Master Ninja... I think.

After just over a two week hiatus, back to being an Iron Man on Old School Runescape. I'm going to try to pull up to getting a Magic Shortbow unlocked (ONLY about 8,000 more Yew Longbows to make until then!) then go back to getting Ranged up. I really need to get Herblore, Agility, Runecrafting and Hunter leveled up; they're so ugly being low leveled.

In other news, since Jagex is releasing a free-to-play version of OSRS, I'll probably use one of my old accounts on it and be an Ultimate Iron Man in F2P. So basically, let me quickly summarize standard Iron Man rules as my Iron Man would state them in his arrogant words:

  • No trading other players. Only lazy noobs that can't earn anything themselves trade.
  • Cannot get loot from monsters unless you did 100% of the damage. So any griefer can come in, poke your monster, and you lose the loot.
  • No being a scrub and having friends sell items to shops so you get a cheaper price. On a similar note, no having friends buy out stock so you can sell your items for more either.
  • No XP from attacking others. Boosting is for losers.
  • Can never have Accept Aid on. No getting friends to cast the Vengeance Other spell on you to cheat tough fights.
  • Cannot use other players' houses nor can they come over to your house.
  • Can't use the Nightmare Zone minigame as a lazy way to level skills (can't buy resources)

Pretty harsh, but Ultimate Iron Man takes the above and laughs pathetically at it. In Ultimate Iron Man mode, the Bank of Runescape refuses to serve you. That being said, you CANNOT use the bank at all. However, you can use noted items on the banker to un-note them. So your measly 11 equipment slots and 28 inventory spaces is all you've got to carry your items. Choose wisely. On top of that, you drop your ENTIRE inventory on death. You keep NOTHING. For comparison, everyone else retains three items (four if the Protect Item Prayer is active). But as an Ultimate Iron Man, even with Protect Item on, you still lose your entire inventory every time you're killed. Have fun literally rebuilding your bank from the ground up every time you die! So yeah, you're basically carrying your entire net worth on you at all times. On member servers though, you can use the Nightmare Zone coffer to store your money, so at least you have that to fall back on.

Would it be safe to say that Ultimate Iron Man would be the ultimate test of your ability to manage your inventory? Not to mention every time you happen to die, you're reset to absolutely nothing. You still have your skills, but no items.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask 3D completed. Now onto the Oracle series. This time I'll do Ages before Seasons, because why not. And after that is... egh, Four Swords. Also realizing that I'll be playing six straight games on my 3DS... Link's Awakening through Four Swords. I'm gonna get tired of this console after a while. chansub-global-emoticon-ddc6e3a8732cb50f

Well, made an Ultimate Iron Woman from an account I had gotten muted for cursing someone out with the release of free to play on Old School Runescape. First thing I did is tried to use the bank (very hard habit for me to break), and it pretty much said "Sorry, you're an Ultimate Iron Woman. No bank for you." Regardless, having played for a good 7 or so hours of game time already, I really overestimated Ultimate Iron Man mode's difficulty. It's really simple, although to be fair, I'm not very far along yet. All you really have to do is manage your inventory properly. You don't get much to work with on free to play. You have 28 inventory spaces in your backpack and 11 equipment slots. That's it. That's your bank. And if you happen to die, it's just like in Minecraft; you drop EVERYTHING.

Anyway, did a decent amount of stuff my first day. Mostly chopped trees down for money making. By that, I mean selling Oak Logs for 2gp each to a General Store and Willow Logs for 4gp each. However, on f2p, all new accounts have a 24 hour trade restriction. With that, they cannot sell items to shops if the stock reaches 50. Done most likely to discourage bots from selling items to the store for others to buy. It's really tedious, but I did it all this time. Already made over 5,000gp just from doing that. I know there is the free 10,000gp from the Stronghold of Security, but I want to save that for later. Don't want to get it immediately just to die with it and lose it all. Besides, being this low of a level, I don't need a lot of money, and by the time that I do, I'll have much more efficient money making methods than making around 800gp an hour selling logs to a General Store.

N = Fishing Net

How my backpack is sorted:

Coin Count: 5,079gp

Worn Equipment: Steel Axe, Ultimate Ironman Helmet/Platelegs/Platebody, Black Cape, 26 Bronze Arrows

Yeah, I'd say I have a ton of free space available, wouldn't you agree?

The games I'm playing are:

Star Fox Adventures, which I am playing for my first time. Can't believe I missed this game, it's awesome.

Dota 2, which seems to be the best multiplayer action real time strategy game available. And it's free. (And paying doesn't give you any benefits unlike most mmorpgs).

The Forbidden City, a quest by Jamian. I'm really loving it, as the dungeons are large and full of puzzles, and there are so many great features.

Star fox adventures is a really average game for Rare standars in that time. It's just an uninspired Zelda clone. It has some cool things here and there, but is clearly rushed. It can be a decent timekiller, though.

Also playing The Forbidden City by Jamian

Stairfax Temperatures?!

Never played it. It didn't interest me, and I mean it seems like a decent game, but having a great love of Star Fox 64, well, I want a space battle game. Assault and Command interest me, though I hear one of them isn't so good, not sure which one. I still haven't played the original SNES one either, I probably owe it a shot, though looking at gameplay footage, it seems quite... dated. At least graphically, in the old polygonal, "what the heck am I looking at and where am I going?" sort of way.

Star Fox 64 for life.

Star Fox snes is better for me than Star Fox 64 (and I love Star Fox 64, I played it before than Star Fox snes). If you can pass the graphics barrier (trust me, you will find the charm in the game quickly), it's one of the best Nintendo games of all time. The graphics are dated, but the gameplay, the music and the stages are AWESOME. And it's way harder than Star Fox 64, which is a great thing. It's a super inspired game, and has way more content than Star Fox 64. For me it's a masterpiece like ALTTP and Super Metroid.

Don't dismiss the game too quickly, I made that mistake in the past.

Just no.
It's not even in the top 3 Zelda games.

Also SF64 > SF SNES. The original doesn't have filler levels, or boring ones like the submarine one, sure, but it doesn't have the voice acting, which gives the N64 title all its magic and charm. But both are good.

I started incorporating shifting spin jump momentum by using the camera in Super Mario Sunshine. Parkour is amazing.

Also melee. Still fourth best in my city but I'm slowly cracking in. I got 25 in a 94 person tournament recently almost beating the third best player and beating the player who eliminated the second best.

An update on the Ultimate Iron Man challenge. Reached 14 hours of play time, so I'm only 10 away from having the restrictions lifted. Hoping that'll let me sell more than 50 of an item at once to a shop. Blew all of my money on a weapon and full Mithril (no shield). Was going to just save up for Adamant Full Helm, Plateskirt and Chainbody (no way I'm blowing 20k for the Platebody when the Chainbody is only 4800gp), but my Ultimate Iron Man armor was no longer cutting it. My inventory is the same as last post. All I have are coins, a Steel Axe and a Small Fishing Net. The other 25 spaces are empty. As for what is equipped, I have Mithril Platebody, Plateskirt, Full Helm, Mithril Longsword, Leather Gloves, Leather Boots and Black Cape.

It's interesting how much a game changes when you have one restriction added. First you have regular accounts that can trade freely and do whatever they want. Then you have Iron Man accounts that can't trade or receive help from other players, forcing them into solitary gameplay. THEN you have Ultimate Iron Man accounts that are not even allowed to store their items in a bank and always lose their entire inventory on death. Or if you're playing Runescape 3, instead of Ultimate Iron Man, there is Hardcore Iron Man mode where perma-death is a thing. Die once, and you're more or less banned from RS3. You can access the lobby still and you're still able to log into Old School Runescape though. You just can't log into RS3 because you're "dead". However, you can buy an item that if you do unfortunately die, it will make you a regular Iron Man, allowing you to continue using your account.

Maybe not to you, but to plenty it is, I dunno, it's like opinions exist or something.

Although I have to agree on Star Fox 64's cheesy acting being a big contributor to its charm. I listened to the rerecorded lines for Star Fox 64 3D and honestly felt a little empty. I don't see why they changed them.
